I believe I was just insulted at my gym.

Fluffy...I'm an old fart. I have to laugh at myself when I need a translation to a hand gesture. I'm that clueless. Just to make your week girly...Tossing bills your way.

My gym is actually a great place and family friendly. Most people are respectful and friendly. Especially the gym regulars.

You already know he has not been successful sticking to a diet. Prepare yourself that he is going to still battle his own issues with weight. You may have to do this on your own. You are the one that will have to pick yourself up when you slip.

    Open to be a mentor

Congrats on your December 5th sugery date. Absolutely do this for yourself and your health. I hope your sleeve will be a better experience than the band. We are all here to help along the way. You will also find others here that are a revision from band to sleeve. Question... Would your husband consider surgery if he is also struggling?

I was 254 I'm 137. I can't afford plastics. My loose skin was not as bad I I thought it would be. I just use shapewear and clothing to hide it. Can't say enough about investing in a good bra. Reality is I have I have lose skin. bat wings, my mid section hangs below the crease of my upper legs. Back and bust and butt are saggy. I lift weights and distance run. The muscle I have built fills in the loose skin. Plastics are the only way I can get rid of it.
  10. I make my tray with meats, cheese, raspberries and almonds. No crackers - if you place crackers out for your family or nuts on the tray...There is no need for you to eat them them. You can enjoy the other items that are protein packed. I use parmesan cheese crisps instead of crackers. You can make your own or buy them. Step 1 Preheat oven to 400°. Step 2 Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Spoon cheese by tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheet. Spread each mound to a 2-inch diameter. Sprinkle mounds with pepper. Bake at 400° for 6 to 8 minutes or until crisp and golden. Cool completely on baking sheet. Remove from baking sheet using a thin spatula.
  11. Planning ahead for unknow food that's going to be at your family's house is hard. Stick to eating a protein and vegetable choice. You can always grocery shop and make a dish/appetizer you can eat and the family can enjoy. Deviled eggs, Meat and cheese plate, veggie tray. Be creative... Restaurants I look up the menus online before I go. I can usually find a protein and vegetable most places.

    Pre op

Congrats on your December 8th sugery date. Good advice from @DropWt4Life I did not have a pre op liquid diet. My Dr said my liver looked fine. Each of us seem to have different instructions. Check with your surgeons office.

    Protein

I'm sure there are many food log applications out there. I still use myfitnesspal. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myfitnesspal.android&hl=en Yes, Everyone's instruction on protein may vary a bit. My instructions in weight loss mode were 60-100g, Part of your protein goal range is due to the amount of calories you are able to consume in the first stages of surgery. What do you consider too much protein? I get in 135+ grams. I'm further out. Increasing my protein goal helps with hunger. It also supports my weight lifting and distance running.

    Goodbye Phat Girl

You said [But I also want to be healthy...] Keep that in the front of your mind. Do this for yourself. You may find your inner fat girl may still have a chip on her shoulder about people treating you better after your weight loss. Trust me, the same negative people that comment now will make comments as you lose weight or find a new flaw to to judge after goal. In the process of weight loss, I hope you can learn let go of the negative statements, fat shaming and judgement from the past. Letting go is for you...Not them. Other people don't get define you. Only you get define who you are. Invest your time in people that are supportive in life. Loving food : You will still like food but it won't control you anymore. The surgery is only a tool the rest is the hard work you put into this. Changing into healthy behaviors will keep you successful in the long run. Right after surgery the Drs. will have you walking. It helps the healing process. As you heal your Dr will release you to higher impact exercise. New cute clothing feels so good! Not a crime rocking your new bod. If it keeps you motivated. Go for it! Wishing you the best for your upcoming surgery, Jenn

    4 Year Update

I'm hopeful after reading your update. I love hearing from the veterans. I like to know the reality of being years out. What it looks like from a patient's perspective. It''s better then reading the random statistics. Congratulations on year four. See you again year five.

What are you doing for yourself today?

I hope you are smiling big! That was a great NSV. I hope you like shopping for clothing. More smaller sizes are coming your way.
  17. What you do with this twentyfour hours is going to make a difference. This is caring for yourself enough to push through and make changes. Working on your mindset and emotions that may be impacting your weight loss. Getting your workouts in. Are you struggling or enjoying the sweat? Logging food and slowing down to appreciate each bite. Are you considering food prepping on the weekend? Are you celebrating hitting a small or large goal. Get out there and live life with no regret! don't waste this day.

    Plastics or no plastics ?

The complement is nice thank's. If you can afford surgery or insurance coverage that's great! ( I cant afford it) I just wanted to give a different perspective on the loose skin issue. It's a fear of the unknown outcome from surgery. I hope people mentally prepare for it pre surgery. I googled loose skin from weight loss images. Worst case and best case scenarios. Trust me, I look like a shar pei puppy nude.

    Plastics or no plastics ?

Trial and error to see what type of shapewear works for you. The ones that work for me I found at burlington coat factory for $14.00. They are a hit and miss to find. I don't see them on their website anymore. (If anyone finds the trifox shapewear on a site that has smaller sizes please message me) The only type that works for me have eye hook and zipper front to pull things up and in. I like the type that you can wear your own bra. This type helped my clothing to fit. I had to go a size up to fit my lose skin correctly. Trifox zip front shapewear - https://www.ebay.com/i/222209858061?chn=ps&dispctrl=1 the spanx type just smoothed the rolls and bulges a bit, Clothing still didn't fit right.
