I do have compassion for anyone who has experienced complications. It's normal to be concerned, have doubt and nervous. Complications are possible...Also lack of complications are possible with any surgical procedure. Look up statistics on complications...Talk to your surgical team. I'm three years out and no complications.

When your RNY stops working...
Healthy_life2 replied to UrsulasShadow's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
The amount of revisions due to stretching on this forum seem to be a rare occurrence. US national library of medicine link https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4485844/ Conclusion Long-term weight loss in patients following bariatric surgery requires regular and supportive management by qualified health professionals. Based on the literature reviewed, our principal recommendations to optimize long-term weight loss include: ensuring that the patient understands how the procedure works; offering pre- and postoperative education sessions; ensuring the patient utilizes self-monitoring strategies; tailoring nutritional supplements; restraining liquid calories, pureed foods, grazing, and eating out of home; engaging in an average of 60 minutes of physical activity per day; and conducting lifelong annual medical, psychological, and dietary assessments. Stomach stretching? there is a paucity of long-term clinical evidence to describe the rates of occurrence. -

High carb, high protein, low fat diet 6 months post op during intense physical activity?
Healthy_life2 replied to Gabbee's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Always consult with your medical professionals Option (1) Stay on your bariatric plan. How intense is your workout? I worked out five to six days a week on my bariatric plan until goal. Bariatric plan seems to be working well for you. down 47 and another 47 pounds to go...Really think this through if you choose to go off plan. Option (2) Fitting your new macros in. It takes all day eating small meals. If you choose to follow your trainers plan. Monitor and make sure you stay in weightloss mode. If your trainers plan causes weight gain..Go back to your tried and true bariatric plan. __________________________ A few things I can relate to..... My surgeons office had no advice when it came down to my exercise/fitness level. I did consult a sports medicine dietitian. She has no experience with a athletic bariatric patient. I distance run and lift weights. I am at the gym two hours five days a week. I also have long run days. (two to three hours on a route) ______________________________ -

Help with hair loss
Healthy_life2 replied to Rose400491's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Unfortunately biotin did nothing for me. I use hask argon oil. It comes in a vial. At walgreen. It wont stop the hair shed. It will help keep it healthy and growing out. The texture of my hair changed. This got my hair back to soft and shinny. Sent from my SM-G920T using BariatricPal mobile app -

Need advice: 13-Months post sleeve. Stalled for last 3 months.
Healthy_life2 replied to Revconguy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You are following your plan..100 pounds down! Fantastic..Just keep at it. I always add this link..If it applies great..If not ignore it. https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/351046-embrace-the-stall/#comment-3952027 I don't think there is a secret. It's finding what works for you. This is from my personal experience, I'm no expert. Some things to try to break the stall. Increase your protein goal 100 grams slightly increase calories. (go back to 1100-1200 calories if you see a gain) My body type..Ugggg. If I am not exercising the scale will not move. Exercise. Change it up never do the same intensity or exercise over and over. Keep committed to your exercise. Your bicycle do HIIT high intensity interval training. Set the resistance to a comfortable pace for 3 mins. Increase the resistance and your speed for 5 mins. Repeat for a half hour to an hour. -
How many calories do you eat in a day?
Healthy_life2 replied to elliekay's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Things look different as time passes. No way you can eat like a bariatric patient if you are have an above normal fitness level. -
Research Results: Roux-en-Y, Sleeve, Dieting
Healthy_life2 replied to James Marusek's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Statics are interesting. My surgeons office follows patients for five years. Many patients stop coming to follow up appointments at two years out. They admit, Statistics are not accurate. I agree with @blizair09 What I have noticed...is if you don't change behaviors you will gain. Is that the same for all bariatric surgery types? I knew early on I didn't want to be a statistic. Lost 120 pounds in six months and maintaining three years seven months out. Hope for the best in the years to come. I want this long term. -

Photograph Your Food - Journaling
Healthy_life2 replied to FluffyChix's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If taking a photo of food helps you..Ya go for it. My food gets repetitive and boring. It's been helpful and fun to see our Bariatric pal shared food photos. Helps me get out of cooking ruts. For me to photo journal on top of my log...Whew..that would be alot of food photos over the last three years..lol -
Yes, Everyone has different instructions. My instructions were over three years ago. I'm sure they are out of date. Best advice is follow your instructions given by your team.

We are all a work in progress ...Right? Many of the veterans are working on the same things. They gave me great suggestions of things to try to get the scale moving again. I had a 15/20 pound gain this year.(three years out)

I'm sorry you are struggling. I think your question if the sleeve is going to work for you ..That may be a question between you and your surgeon. Also..there are other bariatric surgeries that he/she may suggest. This is just my personal experience...It may not apply to your situation. At 1300 calories my protein goal is 130 grams minimum. I am more high protein low carb. I feel more satisfied/full when I eat. After 30 we all start losing muscle...I'm an old fart. I'm trying to keep or build muscle. My body type and exercise....Holy hell..If I don't exercise the scale does not move. I was a true couch potato. I hated exercise...I was not motivated to do it. I had to sign paperwork saying I was committed to an hour of walking. I did it because it was a requirement to have surgery. I had no motivation...I had to give myself perspective... Everyday that I had to force myself to go to the gym ....I said to myself, A military veteran that is sitting in a wheelchair would gladly trade places with me.....They would give anything to go for a walk..... at 254 I could walk for a half hour and that was it...I was out of breath. But, I did it consistently five days a week. I got stronger and started walking my full hour. There is no way I could do monumental exercise...I had to start small...I parked further away from the store to walk. I took the stairs instead of the elevator. I'm three years out and you will never know where WLS will take you...I never thought of myself as a fit or athletic person. I do now...The gym is my replacement for stress and emotional eating..Its where I process all lifes baggage to move forward...

Scared of Gaining Weight
Healthy_life2 replied to _Mini_Me_'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The fear of weight gain can help keep you at a healty weight. Recognize if the fear gets to the point you obsess over your weight. Coments "you lost too much weight" can also make you question if you are too thin. If you are a healthy bmi ..ignore the comments. You are right. It's finding a balance. Recognize you are at a healthy weight. This is what maintaining looks like for me. I have a ten pound bounce range. If I gain weight. I work to bring it back in range. Dont let the regain posts freak you out. We all have our struggles with WLS. I am compassionate with anyone who has had regain. Sent from my SM-G920T using BariatricPal mobile app -

Sorry for your stress and struggles. Make peace with with your life. Show yourself compassion, forgiveness and unconditional love. You have the strength to turn this around. Your pre band weight was 245. What you have to lose now is not a large gain. You are back on top of this! Another note to put on your mirror below. Enjoy your sunday!

Products for excess skin after weight loss?
Healthy_life2 replied to lindstroy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is not a rant to the poster....Rant because I have too much free time on my hands Lotions promising anti aging, Pills promising quick weight loss, and cheap exercise devises promising ripped bodys......Just make me pissy. *laughing* Their website says Bio oil is for scars, stretch marks and skin tone (evens the color) It may help with what they are advertising it for...But I think it will do nothing for loose skin. https://www.bio-oil.com/us/us-en/original/formulation -
Weight Loss was always hard on my own. I struggled with weight loss for years. I needed something that would work long term Like @Losebig check to see if its a medical reason with your Dr. Yes, you will lose weight with the sleeve. Bariatrics is more than calorie restriction. You have to eat your meal plan (high protein and low carb) and exercise. Are you using paper or an App to track your food? Drinking lots of water? walking/exercise? Are you eating high protein and low carb?
