  1. People can be superficial about physical apearance. Most experices are positive after weight loss. I still get a few negative comments now that I'm fit. Negative people will always find ways to be judgemental ...lol It's sad that I feel more valued by society just becase I'm considered a normal weight. My inner fat girl has a chip on her shoulder when it comes to how diffrently I'm treated now. Sent from my SM-G920T using BariatricPal mobile app

    New swimsuit

There is now way to predict how your weight loss is going to go. I would wait until June. Sizes are weird. It depends on the designers. Try things on. You are going to go through many different sizes in the future! lol Enjoy

Hypoglycemia, glucose tolerance test, and a reset

Hi there, Sorry to hear of your struggles. We don't have the same type of surgery but I have reactive hypoglycemia. Some of us will develop this as a complication from surgery. Sounds like you are managing it. I use a glucose meter. I usually know when my blood sugar is crashing. I can feel it coming on. I agree this takes work even years out. I have times when I'm doing well. When I'm not, I peek back in here to get back on track. Wishing you the best, Jenn

    Cons?

It's great you are researching your decision. Your surgeon's office should provide you with good information on risks.

    Barefoot running shoes

I give it up to anyone that can run barefoot. How far can you run in this type of shoe?
  8. *laughing* Your rant is a repeat topic. Not a new observation. Welcome to the world of bariatric forums.

    Phentermine after VSG your thoughts

I've seen others use it. The decision is yours. Just my two cents 10-to 20 is not a big drop to lose. As we get smaller we have less body fat. The weight loss is slow. It took me longer to lose the last pounds. I use it when it first came out in my past diet attempts. It was like taking speed. Also back then it was pulled for heart attack risks. I lean more anti medication...Side effects just are not worth it to me. I

Can we talk about boobs and bras?

I couldn't open the link. I guess I have to have a zulily account. I'm looking for a good sports bra. I'm a saggy D cup. Sports bras have no support for me and the post surgery boobs. I've been googling. I still haven't found one that I can run in without the girls bouncing. I've tried wearing two sports bras. As much as I dislike underwire it's needed. I dislike T back bras.

Guilty Pleasures - Your last meal

Many of us had food funerals before surgery. Mine wasn't a crazy binge load up of food. Just pizza and coke.

When food is no longer a coping mechanism.

I agree, this feels like grieving for the comfort and favorite foods of the past. I can relate, I miss the coping skill that no longer serves me well. The change is positive stuff. but, It forced me to figure out new ways to cope. Stress and emotions can get the best of me. I am not perfect. I've had days where I ate a whole box of my beloved spicy sweet wheat thins. I go to a coffee shop alone. I just need time away to regroup. I take most of my, stress and emotions to the gym. It's the one place I am not a mother, employee, and wife. It's my time that I have carved out for me. It may sound strange but, I processed my mother passing from cancer on an elliptical machine. @FluffyChixBring on the sex addiction!

    Any advice...

I'm a sleeve, I hit goal in 6 months. 254 to 133 maintaining for three and a half years. My plan was low carb. I was getting in 1100 to 1300 calories. 80g to 100g+ protein in weight loss mode. (My instructions may be out of date) _______________________________________ How far out from surgery are you? Did your dietician give you clarification on how many calories, protein and carbs to get in each day? How many carbs are you allowed? Are your carb sources coming from vegetables? Are you allowed potato, rice, pasta, bread? Your question...Well I want to learn to eat healthy so I can carry that on after surgery. My question is, is keto okay to do after surgery? Or even low carb? The only person that has to be happy with your surgery outcome is you. Your decisions are yours.... trust the professionals to learn the basics in weight loss mode. The goal is healthy, lose weight and keep the weight off long term.

Mason Jar Lunch on the Run

    Ok...Stop your making me hungry!
  17. Does the reason why any of us have a weight gain matter? Could be many things. Your body settling, medical issues, major life changes or old behaviors creeping back in. It's more important that we recognise a gain and work to get back to healthy. I can relate. I feel the need to control my weight. I have to admit my fear of regain is not a normal level. I felt out of control with food and my weight most of my life. I now over think maintaining. It's a bit obsessive on my part. It's something I'm working on.

  20. By the title of your post - Know that I'm exactly the type of person that should not have considered WLS. Yes, I have failed on diets. I've done every diet possible. I've lost and regained many times. The pills and diet plans were not sustainable long term. That is the main reason I chose surgery. needed a long term solution. I have no regrets that I did the hard work of changing my behaviors with food and exercise. I went from 254 to 133 maintaining over three years. I agree with @elforman advice.

    I'm envious

I am so jelly of the people here excited and motivated by the rapid weight loss. You guys are loving all things new with WLS. You are doing amazing things and feeling incredible. It's a fantastic high that I really miss. The thrill is soooooo gone. Life is normal. No more new NSV's No more comments on weight loss. I'm bit of an adrenaline junkie. I need to find some new adventures to tackle.
  22. You did great recognizing the slip. It's all a learning process. I keep a veggie tray on hand. They are not exciting. I know myself with night snacking. Not plugging a product. I've tried is Quest protein chips for salt and crunch cravings. Not everyone likes them. I do the BBQ flavor and salsa. I don't like the other flavors. To make them into a meal, I top them with 99% lean ground turkey with taco seasoning, Green and red peppers onion and a bit of low skim mozzarella. Quest chips 130 calories 22g protein 4g carbs Be creative with healthy sweet and salty cravings. You will find what works for you.
