    Somewhere along the line ...

Surgery 3/11/18 33lbs down! It may feel like things are moving slow right now. You are going to look back after your first year and realize how quickly the weight change was for you. Hang on for the ride. 333-229 = 104 pounds. Not impossible! Can be done.

    8 months post op

Disclaimer - Always check with your dietician first. Eight months out. How many calories, protein carbs are you getting in? Shakes never keep me full. If you have food volume I would eat whole foods. If you are eating all day and hitting your food log macros you should be ok. Somethings to try if you can hold more food volume and feel hungry: Raising your protein goal may help. Eat as much veggies as you want to the point of full with your protein. Vegetables/salad have fiber and bulk to make you feel full. They are low in calories to keep you with in your calorie and macros for the day. hope you find what works for you.
  8. You are about 4 months..Right? How many calories are you getting in now and what does a day of food look like?
  9. What type of surgery did you have? Food volume is a personal thing. How long did it take you to eat it? Did it take two separate time periods to get in? or all at the same time? Do you log and track your food for the whole day? Did the grilled cheese sandwich fit into your nutrition instructions/plan? Did you stay with in your total calories? Did you hit your protein goal? Did you go over your carbs? If it fits into your macros and you are still in weight loss mode/ maintaining then congrats!

My butt aches when I sit too long

Welcome to bariatric bony @ss syndrome.
  11. Check with your plan/dietician first. Check the nutrition facts on these and decide if its worth fitting into you macros for the day. Just because it's sugar free. It is not calorie and carb free... Quest has a 21 g protein peanut butter cup. You don't have to eat both cups in one sitting lol sugar free chocolate pudding with protein powder added. Strawberries dipped in hershey's sugar free syrup or melt hershey's sugar free chocolate chips.

    Chocolate

Ask if these are allowed on your dieticians plan - quest protein bars , sugar free chocolate pudding (I add protein powder) Strawberries dipped in hershey's sugar free syrup,
  13. In the first stages I went. Meetings are mostly geared for people in weight loss phase. I rarely go to meetings now. I only go when I get calls from local surgery friends. We still support each other. It's also a chance to just talk and go have coffee before the meeting. It helped to get the basics down. Veterans seem to come back when they have a gain or struggling. our groups are put on by the hospital. We have support group once a month ran by a nurse A behavior change class - four classes at night for a month. A Psychiatrist teaches the curriculum. An amazing bariatric cooking class. The dietician has a large kitchen with overhead cameras. Two 70 inch TV to view. Mostly it's just social. Best part is you get to sample the food.

    Calculating Goal Weight

Do you think she was giving you the healthy BMI range according to the BMI chart? See attached. I was not given a goal by my medical team. They told me the norm is to lose 60% of your weight with the sleeve. I think we are more than the statistics. Hit for something realistic to you and if you go past it.....it's a bonus! lol For me the goal is healthy..Not a number on the scale.
  16. oh dang..lol looks fine on the computer. I will check the phone app.
  17. Lol It went to @justlee she is quoted. I mentioned you in the post and it linked to you. I said "I took the same route as @jess9395 I workout"
  18. Hi Lee, I'm 49 and almost 4 years out. I love being this age an no more periods to worry about. Just a few options to think about or try. Menopause and women having their period struggle. Hormones, water weight and cravings. Uggg the joy's of being female. I took the same route as @jess9395 I workout. Let the hot flashes work for you by walking or elliptical. Menopause will give you double the sweat. Getting in physical activity pays off mentally and physically as you go through the change. It is a bit harder to lose weight/maintain with the sleeve years out. Just know it can be done. The vet's have been talking about the sleeve holding more food after a year. I miss the tighter restriction. I can easily get in more calories. Honestly, My weight gains have been from me being complacent, eating more calories, carbs and sugar. I have to monitor/log and get back into the discipline and motivation that I had in the beginning to get the weight back off. Revision is an option. Question to the bypass patients. Years out can you regain by eating carbs, sweets and extra calories? What ever you choose,I hope you find what will work long term

2 months til 2 years VSG

Just a side note - I was told we can hold more food after a year. I was surprised to actually feel the difference.

2 months til 2 years VSG

It's pretty normal to hold more food after a year or two from being sleeved. Makes it a challenge to lose weight and maintain. The weight loss is also painfully slow. Cravings are tough. Once I have carbs/sugar I crave them more. I have to get my discipline back to get the scale to move. Many people go back to basics. Logging, protein and keeping calories down. This may be more information than you want - Feel free to ignore it. The calculator below helped me out. It calculates specifically to you. (sex, age, height, weight, activity level) After you enter your information you will see three tabs (maintaining) (cutting) (bulking) Click cutting to get your macros. enter the numbers into myfitnesspal or food log of your choice - Yes, you can have carbs - It will give you carbohydrate levels low moderate high. Start with moderate and see if you go into weight loss mode...If not go to low carb ratio. This works with any type of diet you are into (palo, keto vegetarian etc) https://tdeecalculator.net/

Urgent question for maintenance sleevers - help needed

Many of us have a weight bounce after goal. Many reasons for it. It may be your body settling into a weight that it's comfortable at. Maintenance for me is...... chasing the same ten pounds up and down. Is your meal plan what you were eating in weight loss mode? You can go back to basics, log food, 60-100g protein low carbohydrate. lots of water. When your body has less fat to burn the weight loss is slow. exercise (i know you hate it) is an option. Even if it's just walking.
