    Hypoglycemia after Bypass?

I have the sleeve but, I do have reactive hypoglycemia. For me its a minor complication after surgery. It's manageable with nutrition. I also distance run. I have to balance things out so my sugars don't get too low. I have no regrets having my health back. It's great that you are doing your research and evaluating all the possible risks and complications before surgery.

    Cookbooks

There are some other options for bariatric recipes. Just be sure they fit your plan. That moment when...

No cell phone reception on a 10 mile mountain trail run. That moment you make a cute video for your hubby to see the view your accomplishment of reaching the top...then things go ****.

    That moment when...

Bucket list - running in a lightning storm scared $hitless and surviving. Praying out loud and crying like a little girl..lol (bonus AHMAZING photo op) Serious speed down hill running for my life.*laughing* Come to think of it..My speed was pretty good coming off the mountain. It was a practice run for my elevation half marathon on the 21st. lol first 9 miles uphill the last 4 down hill..

    That moment when...

Scary moment when I hit sheets of rain hail and strikes of lightning. No cover..some of the trail is covered by trees... ...I said this run was on my bucket list. But, seriously did not want to go out of this world like that.
  6. Almost 4 years out sleeve - I'm not going to post my menu - I don't want anyone to think what I am eating in a day is normal. 1988 calories. I try to hit up to 2500/3000 calories (crazy to think you can get this amount of calories in with surgery) protein 133 grams carbs 214 grams (I'm carb sensitive and up to 144 pounds this morning) fat 74 grams I am carb loading for a practice uphill trail run this weekend....This is In prep for a half marathon elevation run on the 21st. I fuel differently to sustain the run and keep my blood sugar from dropping. (reactive hyperglycemia from surgery) After this run I will be back on my plan.

5 years and it is never too late

In the beginning of weight loss, I always tell people to follow their plan. The plan works. Things look a bit different years out. I don't believe in a one sizes fits all for weight loss. You have to be open to try new things to see what works your body physiology and medical issues. Congratulations on getting the scale back down. The post is helpful and appreciated.

Frustrated because of stalled weight loss

    Embrace the stall. https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/351046-embrace-the-stall/#comment-3952027
  13. I wish I was more confident when it came to my weight. Pre surgery, The majority of wardrobe consisted grey and black . Loving colors again. I also admit I would wear cardigans in the summer. (I want to slap my former self)...As if anyone would care if I dressed for the hot weather...
  14. The video was kind of cool. I was judged on appearance due to obesity. Now it's kind of being judged for age - ageism..lol I got to get it in my head that just because I'm older I got to just be me. I really don't care what society thinks. Not going to dress like a ho...But I don't have to be frumpy at 50.

I’m very scared! All I crave is sugar!!!

Congratulations on 65-70 pounds down. This is the mental battle with weight loss surgery. You will have salty sweet cravings. You will experience head and real hunger. some things to try: Get all the temptation foods out of the house. Buy healthy options for salty and sweet cravings. Examples for salty: jerky, quest protein chips and salsa - Examples for sweet: Vanilla protein shake coffee and hershey's sugar free syrup - Strawberries dipped in sugar free chocolate syrup - Protein bar. Head hunger ;;Ugh! I feel your pain. I keep a tray of veggies in the fridge. If I'm hungry I eat all the veggies i want until full. I know its head hunger when I try to bargain with myself for another food choice.
  17. Congratulations! amazing work.
  18. You may want to work with your Dr./Allergist on your allergy issues with protein supplements. Getting medical advice in a forum is not a great idea.

Exercise Half Way To Weight Goal

Congratulations on 11 months out 129 pounds down. You had foot surgery and still worked out sporadically. Thats fantastic. Try building a workout routine arournd you personal fitness goals. What outcome are you looking for from your workout? Your endurance, fitness level, and strength will increase with time. It's already been said..yes, find exercise you enjoy. Bodybuilding.com has some great information on workouts My experience: Walking an hour a day was my surgeons minimum exercise requirement. I started walking day one after surgery. My third month I had a major stall. I was walking less. I bought a gym membership and my rate of weight loss was rapid. 5 days a week hour of strength training. Hour of cardio. (Chaged up types of cardio and increased reststance over time) I hope you find what works for you. Jenn Sent from my SM-G920T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Opinions please

Keep your job and personal life separate. You can google to see over million of bariatric patient's sharing their journey, educating people and attempting to change the stigmas about weight loss surgery. One more weight loss surgery experience shared on social media is not going to be a great inpact. Sent from my SM-G920T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Scared of sugar!!

Unfortunately my sleeve can tolerate anything. I've never had dumping syndrome. It's why I have to make healthy choices if I want to control my weight. It's your choice if you indulge. Some choices may slow your weight loss, trigger cravings and cause hunger.
