    Coffee

The health food store had samples. I bought the root beer. Never be afraid to try new things. It tastes like cola to me..but it may not to you. Just a healthier alternative or to help kick the habit of the real thing.

    Coffee

For the hard core soda drinkers...lol Liquid stevia cola drops. Many flavors to add to your water. Found these at my local health food store. You can also find them online. My coffee fix was crushed ice, instant coffee (decaf) Hershey's sugar free chocolate syrup and vanilla protein powder. It was my morning drink. Best of luck guys!

Long term side effects of vsg

I will be four years out from sleeve surgery this June. Maintained at 130's first two years easily. My third year I had a gain 10 to 15 pounds. I got it back down. Maintaining for me is chasing the same 10 pounds up and down the scale. My health is fantastic, Type one pre surgery my a1c is in the non diabetic range. I'm in the best shape of my life, I am making up for lost time. Only one small complication. Reactive hypoglycemia ( Low blood sugars ) Its manageable with food. I've been managing my blood sugars all my life so this is nothing new.

    Sick, Fat, & Nearly Dead

I have tried so many diets and failed. That's why I had surgery. Is juicing going to make you feel satisfied? Is this way of eating sustainable for you long term?
  8. Welcome to the forum! Mobility issues and pain may be improved with weight loss surgery. You will see a few patients that are disabled that are in wheelchairs. They still have success with weight loss. "Speaking of which I am an "alcoholic". On the wagon and have it under control but still might as well mention it. Damn I am one F***ed up specimen." Not fucked up - you are human. We all have things to overcome in life. You are on or off the wagon? Make a plan to have counseling/therapy/support for alcoholism in place before your psych eval. It may help your approval for surgery. The psych eval is mostly for liability for the surgeons. It also is in your best interest to be in a good mindset to make this surgery successful long term. I can relate to addictive personality. I changed the behaviors over to healthier addictions. Working out. This has developed into distance running. Worse addictions to have in life. best of luck to you, Jenn
  9. Congrats on your surgery! Give it time....You are only 6 days out. Dr's have told us for years to eat right and exercise to combat diabetes. This is exactly your new lifestyle. Many more healthy changes to come your way. My A1c is now in the non diabetic range.

    Not enough calories

02/16/2018 two month out from surgery. Sounds about where I was in calories. Are you hitting your protein goal? Are you able to eat every two to three hours? Concentrate on your protein goal. Calories will increase as you get further out from surgery.

    3.5 Years Post-Op - GAIN?

Yep, Many of us here have had the 3 year mark gain. I have the sleeve. I can eat more. Getting my weight back down is slow but can be done. Maintaining for me is fighting 10 pounds up and down the scale. Some people do the pouch reset - Back on track program or going back to bariatric basics. (Logging, protein goal, hydration and exercise) I hope you find what works for you.

    Hypoglycemia after Bypass?

Hi Kerri, I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Do you still have high blood sugars? I just googled Glucobay. Glucobay is used to treat non-insulin dependent diabetes. It helps to control yourblood sugar levels. It works by slowing down the digestion of carbohydrates (complex sugars) which reduces the abnormally high blood sugar levels in your body after each meal.

    Back at the Gym!

I'm an old chick..No harm in looking and appreciating. Especially if it gets you to the gym. My friend advised me against this.....Yes, its not good gym edicate. I saw someone at the gym that could stay on the treadmill jogging for an hour. I wanted to see if I could do the same. I found a treadmill not directly next to him. I challenged myself to see if I could match or beat his pace etc....In my mind the race was on. Did this for a month. I bet this guy thought I was a stalker.

Hope the vent made you feel better. You are doing great. Your surgeon is proud of your work! way to go. she just had the sleeve? could have been misinterpreted or he may be a &ick...who knows...lol There will always be negative people in life. They feel the need to bring people down to feel better about themselves. Invest your time in the supportive loving people around you. Build yourself and others up! Be a positive energy in life.
  24. I don't flash my bit's in public at this age lol 50 this year. Many of you are confident, strut it and careless about how people react to your body and clothing. I'm not sure if I'm having a bit of insecurity about clothing due to weight loss, age or society norm's. I would like to get you take on this...experiences stories? What clothing is age appropriate to you? Do you care if things are age appropriate on you or other people? Have you ever been called a cougar, puma or jaguar? To the guys Manther? Is there an age appropriate line for guy's...Turn in the speedo and shorty shorts after 40?
