    Carbs?

All instructions for weight loss and maintain will look different – Contact your dietician for clarification. Many dieticians don’t worry about calorie and carb ranges until real food stage. Your restriction is tight and it’s hard to consume your 60 to 100 grams of protein. You should be given your calorie and macro goals as you progress. My instructions are almost 5 years old. (Real food stage) My dietician had me stay under 50 to 60 g of carbs. (No bread, crackers white rice or white potatoes) Most of my carbohydrates came from veggies Maintaining instructions Once I lost 75% of my weight, I added in low glycemic carbs to slow/stop my weight loss. Sweet potatoes, brown rice, whole wheat bread and pasta

    Is it normal to .......

Is it normal to ....... Have your sex drive elevated and turn you into a horny teenager.
  8. You can go back into weight loss mode. Have you checked in with your surgeon’s office? You may want to rule out medical issues as a cause. How many calories and carbs you are eating per day? You may be eating your maintaining calories if you are not gaining or losing weight. (check with your dietician or your plan) Something to try --- Dialing in your diet: (I am not a dietician. feel free to ignore the rest of this post) Log your food. (baritastic or myfitnesspal app) Look at your calories and carbs – Are you in your weight loss calories and macros? Are they too low or too high? If your calories and carbs are too high. Adjust calories lower by 100 carbs to 53 for a month. After that month if it does not move you will adjust them lower again to find the calorie range that puts your body in weigh loss mode. If your calories are too low, you will add 100 for a month.

If you could close one fast food chain

The chain I would close is Burger king. I cringe thinking about the disgusting burger patty. It’s strange, I don’t miss fast food. The mystery meat has no appeal for me anymore.

    Sleeve vs rny need help

Pre surgery jitters can make you question your surgery. It’s normal. First months is your best weight loss. Your first year is your golden year. don’t waste it! What will make you successful long term is nothing magic. It’s following your plan. weigh and log your food, hydrate and activity/exercise. Rates of weight loss: Just because one person did not lose much and another lost above the norm does not mean that is what your outcome will be. Don’t compare your weight loss. It will make you crazy. Things to learn from the posts about regain. Weight gain can happen with any type of procedure. “eating around your surgery restriction” You can eat several small meals that total over your weight loss/maintaining calories. (can be combinations of healthy and unhealthy foods) The result is weight gain Some examples of what can trigger people to eat over their weight loss/maintaining calories Complications Head hunger/real hunger medical issues medications stress/emotions menopause pregnancy eating disorders Being complaisant Thinking restriction alone will take and keep the weight off

6 month post op, mental stall

Fantastic weight loss and I’m sorry your struggling. Weight loss slows and restriction becomes less as you progress out from surgery. You’re not alone and this is normal. Just because we can eat more does not mean we have to eat over our weight loss macros and calories. Strategies to fill the extra space and help with hunger. (log food – stay in your calories and macros) Eat dense protein. (nothing soft) Eat as much veggies until full with your protein (Keeps your calories low and fills the extra space) If you are adding in extra carbs/sugar they will make you crave them more - Get them out of the house and detox Find bariatric recipes to get out of food ruts. Healthy should be flavorful. Keep healthy sweet and salty foods in the house

    barbaric process

My husband and kids were the only ones who needed to know the process. My decision affected them directly because we live together. I felt no need to explain it to anyone else. I love that you posted this. I can’t agree more. One of the best gifts out of surgery is inner change. Self-care, reevaluate toxic relationships, heal from the past and eliminate negativity. Life is short. Work to become the best versions of ourselves (inside and out)
  18. Do all sleeves or bariatric surgeries need revisions? I’m seeing posts that some people think the sleeve stops working and will need a revision at some point. Where are people getting this information? Yes, some people may need surgery revision. It can happen with any type of surgery. This site is filled with new people and people that have gained weight. People that are maintaining have no need for support here. I’m wondering if this is the reason people think surgeries will “need revisions” That we are all doomed to regain. Understand some may need a revision for various reason: examples: (I’m sure there are more reasons than what I have listed) Complications procedure not done correctly it was the wrong type of surgery for an individual. Many reasons why people gain weight. (Most People can control gains on their own, If the contiune to gain, they can consult their surgeon on options) Examples: Hormones medical conditions medications pregnancy/ menopause eating disorders stress Grazing – Eating a combination of heathy and unhealthy food over their calories and macros. The sensation is no restriction. Its as if you never had surgery and you will gain weight. Mistaking stretching as your restriction becomes less as you progress out from surgery (Your stomach is not back to full size) You still can fill it with food within your calories and macro’s Not knowing how many calories they are eating daily Will all surgeries stop working. NO. Will everyone gain weight - no. If you gain you can work it back down. Weigh yourself before a 20 pound gain continues on to a 40, 80, or 100+ weight gain.

    Scared/second thoughts

I apologise to the original posters. I'm not trying to hijack your post. Healthy eating/nutrition is still flavorful. Not feeling deprived will help you long term. Many healthy recipes for pizza. I have had quest protein chips (barbeque or cheddar flavor) Some do parmesan chips. (make sure they fit your plan) Log food, stay within your weight loss calories and macros. https://www.bariatriceating.com/2015/08/more-bariatric-chicken-crust-pizza/ https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/giada-de-laurentiis/parmesan-crisps-recipe-3381387 https://www.questnutrition.com/collections/quest-chips https://www.amazon.com/ParmCrisps-Parmesan-Cheese-Friendly-Variety/dp/B07MBR42YL/ref=asc_df_B07MBR42YL/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=241869531501&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13414644629212902088&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1016202&hvtargid=pla-665127834375&psc=1 My dietican website for food ideas https://karenmangum.com/category/bariatric-friendly-main-dishes/ https://karenmangum.com/category/bariatric-friendly-salads/ https://karenmangum.com/category/bariatric-friendly-desserts/ https://karenmangum.com/category/bariatric-friendly-appetizers/

    Scared/second thoughts

Being scared and nervous can make you question your decision. Normal pre surgery jitters. I’m sure your surgeon gave you the statistics and risk/complication facts. Your team is going to take good care of you and manage your pain with medication. The pain is temporary, your results will be amazing. As for all the horror stories, I think its human nature to gravitate toward the negative posts. It will fuel your pre surgery aniety. Try to balance things out by reading the positives. Surgery before and after’s https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/297668-i-want-to-see-before-after-pics-contd/ Success stories https://www.bariatricpal.com/forum/1298-weight-loss-surgery-success-stories/ NSV's https://www.bariatricpal.com/search/?q=NSV I think many of usthat have bounced back from surgery quickly and had no complications don’t get represented. People that are maintaining no longer need support leave the site. Most people posting are in weight loss mode, a few with complications and people that have gained weight.

    I lied

I don’t judge people on their decision to disclose or not disclose. Freedom of choice is a great thing. You are right, you can’t force people to disclose/tell the truth about their medical information. So, If I had cancer I should be "forced" to tell people about chemotherapy? Is not disclosing my cancer treatment out of shame? You still get asked about your weight/ maintaining? Things have become mundane years out. I never get asked about my weight anymore. I have been this size for years.
  23. Pain tolerance is different for each of us. For me it was discomfort. I had fantastic pain meds and bounced back quickly. I experienced more pain giving birth to my son. Sent from my SM-G920T using BariatricPal mobile app

Has anyone had a band over their sleeve?

Sleeved in 2017. how much weight did you lose after surgery? You are currently 174 and stopped losing weight or have you gained weight? Have you seen your surgeon to rule out complications? Some things to try: You’re not alone, Many sleeves feel less restriction as we progress out from surgery. Your stomach is not back to full size. (Stretching is rare have it diagnosed by a surgeon and investigate revision options) Just because we can eat more does not mean we have to. Are you logging your food and staying within your weight loss calories and macros? Eat as much veggies with dense protein until the sensation of full. The bulk and fiber will help you feel more satiated. Carbs and sugar cause hunger. Once you eat them you crave them more. detox off them. Pouch reset or go back to bariatric basics Join a weight loss challenge.

    Asking advice!

Disclose only what you want to who you want. You don’t own anyone an explanation for your weight loss. None of us owe anyone here an explanation of why we want to keep things private. keeping this a secret. Prepare yourself. Most conversations with people seem to be about your weight loss. Its uncomfortable and annoying. Realize you can’t hide rapid weight loss. People will ask questions, talk behind your back and speculate wls. The compliments and comments stop once your weight settles around goal. No one will give your weight a second thought. They will except this is you. Life becomes normal.
