Gastric Sleeve after 50 (Senior Sleevers)
Healthy_life2 replied to Lainie-lou's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 50, five years out and maintaining. It depends on what food stage you are in. check your surgeons plan to see what’s allowed. You will feel so much better after you get to real food stage.* hang in there*. You can get rid of the shakes when you can hit your protein goal with real food. My instructions are old *laughing* what are your dieticians set protein goals??? First stages, I used natures best zero carb protein water – 40 Grams protein and hydration all in one. It’s the texture is like Gatorade. Not thick like shakes. The sell single bottles at GNC. Test before you buy. http://www.theisopurecompany.com/product/isopurezerocarbrtd.html -
Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
Healthy_life2 replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
August 8th 16/8 and alternating days. I worked out fasted this morning. 11:00am time to eat. I’m not sure if I’m doing IF correctly, still reading up on it. I’ve increased my healthy fats a bit and I’m feeling fantastic. The scale is moving fast. (water weight and hot weather) I am wondering if it’s also IF. I have basically been eating my same maintaining diet for years. I am drinking coffee in the morning with PP, lemon water with Pink Himalayan salt and Tea. I am so hydrated I am peeing constantly. -
Posted Tuesday at 09:03 AM August 8th – Personal goal 5 pounds this challenge – Scale is moving fast. I think it’s a combination of 100-degree weather and Water weight. I also started intermittent fasting Sleeve - losing my maintaining bounce weight. August Challenge Starting Weight 140 BMI 23 Today’s Weight 133. BMI 22.1 Eating healthy: zucchini chicken enchiladas

Stop Hard Core Workouts after Surgery
Healthy_life2 replied to HipHopDiva's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Too each their own on working out. I don’t judge if people choose to not exercise, moderate or become athletic. All surgeon’s fitness instructions are different. Do you have your surgeons’ instructions yet? My surgeons’ instructions: Walk the day after surgery to help the healing process and build up to walking for an hour. When I was released to lift. I started at the gym doing cardio and lifting. My fitness progressed from there. I'm a sleeve and got to goal in six months. I did exercise right after surgery and lost weight. None of this is a one size fits all bariatric instruction. Do what work’s for you and trust your medical team. -
Stop Hard Core Workouts after Surgery
Healthy_life2 replied to HipHopDiva's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I dont see anyone forgetting how different our bodies are. It does not matter how each of us choose to work our fitness program. Our bodies ...our choices. Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app -
Personally, I am not a fan of pharmaceuticals. I keep thinking of all the diets and pills I tried/failed in the past. I did phen phen. Lost weight and gained it back plus extra. Is it realistic and sustainable to be dependent on medications long term for weight loss/maintenance? I wish there was a easy way to stop/cure obesity. We can dream, Right?

2 month stall
Healthy_life2 replied to random-rants's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome to the group and congrats on your surgery date. Enjoy your research phase. It’s exciting taking in all the information. Breaking a stall is a bit different . What works for one person does not work for all. Surgeons instructions are all different. There are so many plans and approaches to working your bariatric program. Here is an old link on breaking stalls. (Stalls don’t happen to everyone but, be prepared to experience one) https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/351046-embrace-the-stall/ -
2 month stall
Healthy_life2 replied to random-rants's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hard to embrace the stall when you are the one experiencing it. Seeing other people’s success just made me bitter *smile* Its frustrating but don’t lose hope. Be proud. Know you are doing the right things. Breaking a stall is different for each of us. Some of us mix up food and exercise. For others its simply waiting it out. I agree with @catwoman7. The last pounds at a lower BMI come off painfully slow. Your body may be adjusting because you have less fat to burn. You are doing amazing. Cheering you on. I hope the stall breaks soon. -

I agree, weight loss is 70% diet 20% moderate workout and 10% genetics It’s not healthy or realistic to run a marathon on bariatric weight loss calories. Start slow and build up your exercise/activity. Absolutely choose what you enjoy and can keep up with long term. Your fitness goals may change and evolve over time. A small percentage of people choose to become, nationally ranked fencer, cross fitters, spartan runners, triathletes, power lifter, body builders, hockey players etc. If they never had bariatrics no one would view their goals as excessive. -
August 6th – Coffee every morning. Personal goal 5 pounds - I’m down six pounds since Friday. I think it’s a combination of 100-degree weather and water weight. Sleeve - losing my maintaining bounce weight (four more pounds to go) Starting Weight 140 BMI 23 Today’s Weight 134. BMI 22.3

Meh to the scale now?
Healthy_life2 replied to mousecat88's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yes, your weight is ok. This is a forever lifestyle. Keep being your awesome self. Work your plan and hit your fitness goals. You mentioned becoming a personal trainer, right??? What would you tell a client that is stressing about the scale? You are putting a lot of pressure on yourself to hit a number. Is it anxiety from your upcoming plastics or your October one-year mark? You don’t have to pick a goal weight right now. -

OLDER peeps (50+) exercise
Healthy_life2 replied to Avery's Mom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 50. Bodyweight exercises work well for me at home. We all have our starting point. Do what you can and build up. You don’t have to go balls to the wall with his routine. Link below gives more detail than his video. https://www.workoutaholic.net/articles/best_bodyweight_ab_exercises -
Meh to the scale now?
Healthy_life2 replied to mousecat88's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Try not to let your upcoming plastic surgery dictate what you "should" weigh. You have done so amazing. Its been great to see how you progressed. Give yourself credit for where you are at this moment. Never forget how you felt at 286. Weight loss still happens after plastics and years out. Stalls suck. The scale will move again. I understand your frustration. You are building muscle so be kind to yourself when you step on the scale. It’s a personal choice in how much you want weigh. If the scale is affecting your mood, weigh yourself less. The goal is healthy not chasing the number on the scale. I want plastics photos! *smile* I'm excited for you. -
