For the people actively Losing weight that track food...
Healthy_life2 replied to Elode's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Elode Ok, I'm almost to goal. My surgeon wants me to get in 1500 calories to keep up with my fitness level. I feel like I eat all day. I'm able to get in 1000. I'm also a type one diabetic. I hit more low blood sugar's now. My nutritionist has me adding whole wheat and plant based carbs. I eat my carbs before I work out and after. I am trying to loose 15 more pounds. It's Fantastic to know that our dr's can adjust the plan to fit each of us as individuals. -
Cheated and now I'm paying for it.
Healthy_life2 replied to Countrygrrl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Countrygrrl Oh yes, I can relate. I have been using food as a coping skill for stress for years. Yesterday I was in a argument with my husband. I decided not to respond out of anger and took myself to the gym to process the situation. The anger turned out to work in my favor. I pushed myself harder, I jogged further and ended up with a joggers high. For me working out is a better coping skill then junk food has ever been for me. I get lost in my music. It does so much for my mental health. I hope you find a new way to deal with stress. -
Did you spouse diet with you?

@@Terribj You will be at you're goal before you know it. I am almost to my surgery goal. Then 10 more to my personal goal. I started working with a trainer. I plan on keeping up with my exercise and building up to complete a 10k running. Then challenge myself to longer races. It is getting strange to get out of weight loss mode. My trainer has me cutting my cardio in half..my mind tells me I still need to do more. I'm going to continue to go to my local support group to keep on track. Congratulations on you're success Jenn

Ok ladies. I have spent years of hiding from mirrors and cameras. Being obese I dressed in things to hide my body. I'm 7months out and 110 pounds down. I'm now struggling to find what looks good at my age. I'm in my 40's. I don't want to look like a woman desperately trying to be young. I have no clue what age appropriate is in 2015. I'm trying to keep it classy. Any good web sites for women my age?

Fantastic advise, thanks! I seem to be in my workout clothing during the day. It's cold out. Sweaters and jeans seem to be my standard. This will be my first summer at my new weight. I cant afford plastic's. It has me a bit self conscious. The websites are a great help. Still trying to find my own style. It has been fun shopping. I treated myself to a little black dress to wear on my new years date with my husband. So much to Celebrate this year.Any one else have new years plans?.. would love to see a thread to see how others bring in 2015 with pic's... Thanks again Jenn

Worst "compliment" you have gotten since surgery
Healthy_life2 replied to Lacowgirl72's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Worst compliment: At a dinner party with my husband and friends. When a person at the table looks at my husband and say's You must be having sex all the time. Ewwww. What some people think is appropriate just floors me -

@@carolyn_1978 We are human. Set back's will happen. The important thing is to recognize that the holidays can trip you up into old habits. When you have a set back forgive yourself and move back into your healthy way of life. shake off your holiday blues and get ready for the new year and the new you. -

My 40's are fantastic. I never have felt this happy and relaxed in life. I'm almost to my surgery goal. I'm jogging in 10k's , snowshoeing and just overall enjoying the hell out of life. Trying to experience so many things that I let myself miss out on. So bring on the 50's !

I am genuinely sad for the place I was at before. I feel more compassion for me and all of my faults. I am still finding out who I am. I would like to think I'm beautiful inside and out.

How did your weight loss affect your marriage/relationship?
Healthy_life2 replied to majorsmama's topic in The Gals' Room
I have been married for over 20 years. We have a solid relationship before wls. I'm always amazed that he has been my biggest cheerleader. He has always believed in me. He is letting me spread my wings and fly. Yes, he has had some insecure moments. He has told me the weight loss is nice but to have me happy and involved in my life is a greater thing. We are like teenagers again. Yesterday he asked me to marry him again. This has been positive for our marriage. -
Have you tried a stool softer? Its not as harsh as a laxative. Check with you're doctor to see if it allowed. Seems that each doctor has different requirements.

What do you drink when you go out?
Healthy_life2 replied to Kaitlin 1013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Now that I have lost 81% of my weight. I thought I would give a drink a try. I ordered a skinny girl drink of the menu. It was a citrus drink (sugar free) but with a shot of vodka. I had a few sips. I now realize what others on the board were talking about when they say low tolerance level...Oh my it caught me off guard. For me It's a once in a while treat. I really don't like the way it makes me feel. -
I worked into it. I was defiantly not a runner/jogger before surgery. I started with walking. I started jogging on a treadmill in November. On Thanksgiving I did my first 5k. Jogging on the road feels much different. Motivation for me is to Finnish and to push myself to beat my own time. I'm on to a Christmas 10K on December 20th.

I fell off my plan :(
Healthy_life2 replied to Mel13's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You fell off the plan...the good thing is that you can hop back on... I found this on the web. Thought I would share it. For some people, eating is a way to cope with emotions. It can often serve as a sort of “numbing mechanism” in order to avoid feeling certain painful emotions. After bariatric surgery, this can be a painful and unhealthy coping mechanism. You should know that breaking the pattern of eating in response to stress, frustration, or sadness is possible. Identifying the Emotion When you experience a strong emotion that leads you to food, stop and identify the emotion you are experiencing. You may open the refrigerator and realize that you feel sad or angry rather than hungry. Ask for Help When You Need It Breaking the connection between emotions and food can be difficult. If you feel overwhelmed or out of control, attend a support group meeting or contact your bariatric program’s mental health professional. These two resources can help you identify what’s causing the emotion and provide you with strategies and alternatives to eating. -
I sold my treadmill on craigslist and bought a gym membership. my gym offers so much that I'm entertained all the time and don't get board. Besides cardio and weight lifting. I kayaked at the gym for my first birthday after surgery. For winter I'm off to a snow shoeing/ Natural hot springs soak trip with other gym members. Many community events that I love. I jogged the turkey day 5K. Dec 20th I have the YMCA Christmas 10K. Find activities you enjoy. Try not to make your workout a chore make it fun.
