  4. @@noorjenna Here is my two cents for what ever it's worth. People won't always be there, people will disappoint you at some point or the other, no matter how much love you share with them, it's just human nature... so it is TOTALLY up to you to dig deep into your heart and figure out what makes you happy, figure out your own "joy button" He has put the ball in you're court. The decision is ultimately up to you. It would be Ideal to have his support. Wish he could put you're happiness in front of his own. Supportive people can be from areas in life other than a spouse. Friends, family, co workers, local bariatric support groups , your surgical staff and bariatricpal. "You better be prepared to go through the consequences on you're own" The consequences are Freaking Amazing! He is going to miss out on positive life changing events. Can you do this? Hell yeah! Follow you're dream. Believe you can have it. Believe you deserve it. Believe it's possible for you.

    Hypoglycemia?

It could be. Befriend a diabetic and borrow a blood sugar meter (or buy one from a pharmacy off the shelf) When you feel like you have described above you can test to see if it is truly a blood sugar issue.

    my story

My Story I found BariatricPal when researching online about my decision to have gastric sleeve surgery. At seven months out from surgery I have reached goal. Two events happened and gave me a big wake up call that I had to change: (1) Admitted to a hospital Intensive care unit for seven days. My internal organs systematically shut down and I coded. As a uncontrolled type one diabetic I was in DKA (keytoacidosis). (2) Received the news that my mother and my father in law both had stage four cancer at the same time. My uncle provided my mothers hospice care while I was providing my father in law's hospice care. They passed with in four days of each other. Amazing they handled knowing they were dying with such grace. The least I could do is get my health under control and live a life they were not able to live. The good, the bad and the ugly of wight loss surgery: The good out weigh everything. Heath issues controlled to completely gone. Living and loving life in a big way. It has positively effected my relationships. I have become an adrenaline junkie. I am training to complete a half marathon. I am up for experiencing anything. The bad. I'm a bit obsessive about fitness. I also have to tone down my enthusiasm. My enthusiasm level is not everyone else's level . I am still working on my body image. I see myself as my high weight. I am working with a therapist and hope to get comfortable with where I am now. The ugly. Ok, we all know about the loose skin and temporary hair loss. None of it bothers me. A few people in my life have been unnerved by my change. I have had to distance these relationships and I keep the supportive people around me. I am waiting for the shocked reactions to stop and have people accept that this is me. What has helped most: Having support: Friends, Family, Local support groups and support from BariaticPal After care programs: Working one on one with my dietitian. Bariatric cooking classes. Behavioral change classes. a therapist to work through the weight loss process. Fitness: Starting slow and building up. I can't say enough about my gym. After coding in the hospital I will never take my health for granted. Motivation: Find what is fun and excites you. Reward yourself for the big and little goals. Document each month. Save a pair of pants.(If you have days you struggle put them on). Get involved with weight loss challenges, sporting events, fun physical activities, charity events and just savor life before it's gone. Apps and Websites: Love that you can find an app for anything. I use them to track food, blood sugars, workout's and weight loss. Information is power. I receive MSN health and fitness feed. Keeps me up to date on trends great new articles every day. Fitness sites like tone it up keep me motivated. So much info out there just google it

    Period munchies

@@BrandyV So sorry for the loss of you're mother. Sweet and salty cravings I have even without having a period. I satisfy the craving with healthier options. If I deprive myself the cravings increase. So I nip it in the bud. Sweet: strawberries(any fruit) dipped in smuckers sugar free chocolate fudge or caramel topping (valentines day must have). yogurt (light n fit greek) is always a go to for the Protein. But I have a specific desert that I make that I take a few bites and I'm done. Crush one voortman chocolate chip cookie in a small bowl top the cookie with a teaspoon of smuckers sugar free caramel top that with sugar free vanilla pudding mix with added peanut butter chop a Russel stover toffee square and nuts add to the top. Salty: I don't know why these work for me..But again just suggestions Scrambled eggs, Salsa, re fried Beans, chicken fajitas, turkey chilly and Eggplant with chicken sausage Parmesan.

pre-op diet- sudden blood sugar drops

Hi @@highdesertblue , I am a type one diabetic and sleeved. What number is you're blood sugar dropping to? With changing eating and exercise habits you're blood sugar will drop. It's not necessarily a bad thing. But it will make you feel off kilter as you're body changes. Anything lower than 70 you might need to talk with your Dr's office about what is appropriate to bring blood sugar levels back up. With the sleeve I'm able to drink some watered down orange juice or take my glucose tablets with no issue. After surgery I have more low's than highs. But all has been well controlled. I hope with surgery you can beat the type 2 diabetes. Best of luck to you, Jenn
