A year out from surgery, what is your daily diet consist of?
Healthy_life2 replied to Gail Ann's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I want to make this clear...I'm not advising anyone to eat as I do. Maintenance is different for each of us. food and exercise is not a one size fits all program. I would suggest consulting your dietician. I wanted to show an example of maintenance that is not the norm. I am a type one diabetic. I distance run. I work with a sports medicine dietician. When I'm not training..I consume 1300 to 1700 calories..Low carb - high Protein. If you choose to be a bariathlete, getting enough food in is an all day project. What is listed for a meal..I eat until full. take a break and come back to it. I still wait 30 mins before drinking Water. When I train, I consume up to : 2400 Calories. 217g protein 192g carbohydrates (Before a race I carb load for two days) Breakfast. Milk - Reduced fat, 2% milkfat, 1 cup whey Isolate Protein - Six Star , 1 scoope Jimmy Dean - Turkey Sausage 4 Links Cascade Pride - 100% Stoneground Whole Wheat Bread, 0.5 slice lunch - Sunflower Crunch Chopped salad, 1.5 cups Avocado, 1 Medium Avocado (150g) Wheat Thins - Big, 16.5 pieces (31g) Great Value canned chicken - Canned Chicken, 5 oz Nosblast - Pre-work Out, 1 scoops dinner Walmart - Bacon, 1 pieces Trader Joes's - Bbq Cut Salmon Filet, 5.2 oz Marketside - French Beans (Green Beans), 0.5 cup Sweet Potato Baked Sweet Potato - Baked Sweet Potato, 1 oz, 4 oz Snacks Dynatize - Elite Protein shake, 1 scoop Milk - Reduced fat, 2% milkfat, 1 cup Quest - chips, 1 bag Tillamook - Cheddar cheese - Medium, 1 oz (28g) Safeway - Salsa, 4 T Frog Fuel - Energy Gel, 3 packet Walgreens - Glucose Tablets - Orange, 4 tablet -

@@ejirish Sleeved at age 45 in 2014. BMI 42. I'm 5' 5" Starting weight 254. Current weight 134. Maintenance 1 year 5 months. My advice..lol (1) Never compare your weight loss with anyone else...It WILL drive you crazy (2) It not how fast you drop weight...Its the fact you are dropping weight. (3) you can get out of surgery what you are willing to put into it. ( Exception complications etc) (4) The only person that has to be happy with your results is you. (5) Choose carefully information and statistics you read online. Strive for what success looks like for you. -

Looking to purchase a new scale
Healthy_life2 replied to hockeymom11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@hockeymom11 I started with a no bells or whistles standard scale. I had my weigh ins with my Dr. I have a scale at the gym. The scale worked fine. I used it all the way to goal. I recently purchased a body composition scale. I love it. It measures weight, body fat percentage, body Water percentage, muscle mass and bone mass. You can do a google search to get more info on them.. Price range is from $20 to $200. -

After the honeymoon period, could you live without sleeve
Healthy_life2 replied to originalrocklobster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 2 years out. do you still have the benefit of getting full faster / with less food? I still have good restriction and feel the sensation of full. Now that your stomach is kind of back to a bigger size, do you feel it is all on you to eat well and exercise, or do you think the sleeve is helping you long term? Combination of both. The surgery does not do the weight loss for you. It is your commitment to the life style changes that keep the weight off. The surgery helps me feel less hungry.......I cannot eat a big meal even if I tried. Eating healthy and exercise is normal for me now. would you be OK without the surgery.? I would be still struggling with obesity and health problems without my surgery. Do I worry about, e.g. Vitamins, drinking Water too fast, money back from surgery (if applicable)? Understand life is normal and uneventful after you hit your weight loss goal.. I live, eat and play just like everyone else in the world. People I meet have no idea I had surgery. They just see me eat healthy and take care of myself. -
@@glitter eyes The sizes are a bit weird on me. I had to try them on. In a size small my skin didn't want to cooperate. I went a size up and it worked so much better.

@@Lisa_85 You have accomplished so much. Congrats. Self esteem can take a beating from all the negative message we have received. Changing that inner voice is part of the challenge with weight loss. Learn to love/like yourself in your new body.. Your inner voice is the only validation you need. With rapid weight loss, your body image can become a bit distorted. Your appearance is a big change. For some of us, we hid from cameras and mirrors before weight loss. It takes time for your mind to catch up. counseling is an option -
@@KarenRene Your tummy is new.. Most of us felt full easily after surgery. It gets better with time. Take out your list of foods. Figure out what you like and can tolerate at each diet stage. Hitting your Protein and Water goals is important to stay nourish and hydrated. I didn't understand. What you were trying to say about eating meat and cutting out the sides....?????

@@Kelly84 I'm older and down over 100 pounds. My saggy skin will not tighten up without plastic surgery. (It's actually not as bad as I thought it would be) Lotions may help stretch marks. If you are lucky or young enough, your skin may bounce back a bit.
