  1. I've been able to eat anything since the 8 week mark. I've had anything from cucumbers to almonds with no problem. I make sure to chew everything well and it seems to be fine. . I'm eating somewhere between 400-500 calories a day. My doctor doesn't recommend protein shakes after 6 weeks, only skim milk to add protein.
  2. Well, May post-ops.....how are things going? I feel like I am finally getting the hang of this. I am on a full diet as of week 6 and loving the freedom to choose more foods. Oh, how I missed my salads and veggies. Right now I can fit 1-2oz of protein and a couple tablespoons of veggies. I have been doing much better getting in my water and vitamins in. Feeling like more of a normal person every day. The pounds are coming off steadily....not as fast as I thought they would, but steady. As of today, I have lost 38.4 pounds in 7 and a half weeks.

Just had my first salad today and I am 7 weeks out. It was delicious! I used a lite vinegarette for dressing.

    Pain after 4 weeks

I had surgery on 5/13 and am experiencing the same pain you are. I have an appt with my surgeon on 6/12, so I'm going to ask him about it then. I'm hoping it's just my abdomen still trying to heal!
  5. Isopure.....gag....yuck.....gross!!!! I am having such a hard time with this protein drink stuff!!! I see my nutritionist and surgeon next week. Hopefully they have some solutions.
  6. Maybe I'll go to GNC and grab one just to try. What's a good flavor to start with? Today is 3 weeks for me! I'm down 23 pounds from my high weight and 14.8 from surgery. Not quite as fast as some of you, but I've had a loss every week so far and I'm going to stay encouraged by that! Other than being lactose intolerant now, I've been very lucky with food in general. Nothing really makes me ill and I haven't thrown up yet. I'm finally getting in all of my vitamins and most of my fluids every day. Protein is still a struggle, but I'm sure that will get up there soon. Here's the numbers 5'4" HW-264.8 SW (5/13/14) - 256.6 CW-241.8 Goal-150
  7. I have some numbness around my incision sites too. In assuming once it heals we will get some sensation back! I need help with protein. I've become lactose intolerant and whey protein won't work for me. I've tried 4 different shakes and even the lactose free ones make me seriously ill. Has anyone tried the isopure drinks? Are they the thick like the shakes? I've been getting in 35-45g without shakes, but I know I need more. Any advice?
  8. Almost two weeks out and finally starting to feel like myself again! Energy is coming back a little more each day and the gas pains have seemed to go away for the most part. As far as eating, I am officially on the soft food diet as of today. Everything has gone down just fine so far. The only problem I'm having is protein shakes. They are disgusting. The taste, the texture, the sweetness...it all is gross. My protein intake without them is somewhere around 40g a day. As far as fluids and vitamins those are going good. The weight is starting to come off! Yay!! Came home from the hospital 10 pounds heavier than when I left, but I knew it would come off. Looking forward to losing more and becoming a more healthy mom. Pre-surgery 5/7/14 264.8 Day of surgery 5/13/13 256.6 Today 5/24/14 244.4 (17.4 pounds gone!)
  9. I had my surgery May 13th as well. Came home Thursday and started protein shakes Friday only to find I have become lactose intolerant. Spent most of the day friday in the bathroom and throwing up. It all subsided by midnight. I'm a little frustrated because I feel like that set me back two days in the recovery process. I ended up going back to clear liquids for all of Saturday and then started back on full liquids yesterday. The worst pains right now are gas pains, but walking seems to help with that. My energy is slowly increasing and I am not napping at all during the day now. I am able to get all my fluids in, and vitamins, but am waiting for new protein powder to come in the mail that is lactose free. I am only getting in about 30g of protein right now between lactaid milk, Greek yogurt, and small amounts in the soup and pudding. Looking forward to my purée diet that I start tomorrow!!!
