I was sleeved on June 24th and I feel hungry too! I was wondering the same thing....

How often do you step on the scale?
MRhynard11 replied to Guerml95's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgery was last Tuesday and I keep getting on my scale every time I'm in my bathroom! It's so neat to me to see the number constantly going down. Once I get down to my goal weight, I plan to only get on the scale once a day to keep myself accountable. As for right now, there's nothing wrong with my little scale obsession!! -
Two days post op. Still on 2 oz.

I was sleeved on Tuesday the 24th also. I'm having the hardest time trying to drink my water! Also, I'm worried that I'm eating too much. I just ate a jello cup and about a 1/2 hour later ate a pudding cup. I feel like I shouldn't be eating that much! I also get so many air bubbles every time I swallow something that it kind of hurts. I'm wondering if that's my new stomach's way of telling me that I'm over doing it? -
Cheerios Protein
MRhynard11 replied to kimpossible67's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just saw a commercial for them and thought, "Wow, that sounds awesome!!!!" I'm wondering though, if anyone knows how many carbs are in them? -
I am 2 days post op. I just got home from the hospital. My stomach is sore, but what's really bothering me is all of this air in my body. I feel like it's sitting in my chest and stomach. It's quite painful. Did this happen with most people?

My surgery is tomorrow and I've been doing a pre-op diet for the last two weeks. I keep going back and forth between 6-8 lbs. lost. My surgeon never officially gave me an amount to lose. I was worried about not losing enough, but at this point, I'm not going to worry about it anymore. He didn't specifically tell me to lose a certain amount anyway.

My surgery is Tuesday. I feel so guilty right now because I just slipped up on my pre-op diet and ate half a bag of cherries. I went to the kitchen to make myself a protein supplement drink and ended up in the fridge. This surgery is such a huge, life changing thing to do. I'm worried that I'm not taking it as seriously as I should if I just allowed myself to cheat on the pre-op diet! I worry that I'm not going to be successful at what I feel like is my very last chance to lose weight. Has anyone else out there slipped during pre-op but done well after the surgery?

July 7th is my surgery date!
MRhynard11 replied to hadderrie8's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do! I drink a Protein supplement for Breakfast and I'm allowed 3oz lean protein + 1 cup of veggies for lunch and dinner. It's taken some getting used too- I get full right after eating but am usually starving about an hour later! I think it's because carbs give us that truly 'full' feeling. I feel better though and have way more energy! A couple of people have posted on here that the 2 week pre-surgery diet was worse than the after surgery diet. I sure hope so!! Good luck! -
My doctor didn't give me an expectation for how much to try to lose on my pre-surgery diet. It's a 14 day low carb diet, with the inclusion of liquid supplement for Breakfast and meat and veggies for lunch and dinner. I've only lost 4 lbs. in the first 7 days. I think if I keep going this way, I'll have only lost around 10 lbs. before surgery. I could probably pull off more if I go all liquid for the last few days. I'm not sure if I should go off of his prescribed diet though just to try to lose more. How much do you think is normal for pre-op?

Mine is June 24th too! Luckily, I can eat meat/veggies for dinners so I'm not on an all liquid diet, thank goodness! Good luck to you!

The hardest part is the waiting! The best thing you can do is take care of the things that you know now that your insurance will require. Then, once you get into the surgeon, the insurance specialist can submit everything right away. Honestly, in my case and a lot of people on here, the insurance approval process does not take nearly as long as you think. I was approved within 48 hours. Do what I did- spend your time researching and preparing yourself for your new life. Time will fly by! Good luck!

seems like its taking forever to get surgery scheduled
MRhynard11 replied to skinniminiwannabe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I knew that I had been approved but waited an extra 4 days past that for the surgery scheduler to call me. Hang in there!! -
What will you (or did you) most look forward to in your life after WLS?
MRhynard11 replied to patrice1's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
-I look forward to having pride in my yard again. I would love a garden or flower beds but I get too tired just pulling a few weeds. -I look forward to "shopping" in my closet- I have so many clothes in different sizes and some I haven't seen or been able to wear in 10 years. This time, I swear I'm donating my big clothes. -I can't wait to take pictures of myself! -I'm excited to walk my dogs. Believe me, they are too! My ankles start hurting almost right away so we turn back. Each evening after dinner, I watch the couples in my neighborhood walking their dogs after dinner. I want my husband and I to be them! That looks like so much more fun than laying on the couch because I ate too much and have no energy. - I don't want my son to be embarrassed of me. - I'm excited to not have my day revolve around planning meals. - I want to wear my polka-dot one piece bathing suit. I bought it when I lost some weight years ago. It's the first bathing suit in at least 10 years that doesn't have a skirt. AND, I want to be able to wear it without chafing!! - I want to get off of all of my asthma medication! - I want to become more of an extrovert. I'm so shy that I have trouble looking people in the eye and can't make small talk. I think a lot of that is because I'm embarrassed of myself. I feel like I could go on and on. This is such a good topic. I'd like to go back months from now after my surgery and re-read my responses if I'm feeling low or craving something I shouldn't eat. My new life begins on June 24th and I absolutely can't wait!! -
My surgeon's office said that to me too when I called to make my first appointment. All they were doing was just verifying that my insurance does cover the surgery. Once I had the appointment with the surgeon, their insurance specialist also met with me and told me what things my insurance company needs for me to do first before sending my information to the insurance company for approval. I needed to see a nutritionist and a psychologist. Once I did that, the surgeon sent my documentation to my insurance company to request approval for my surgery. They say it takes about 2 weeks to hear back. I couldn't wait any longer after 4 days and called my insurance company to confirm that they had gotten my paperwork and found out that they did approve! Good luck!

I had my psych evaluation yesterday and am alittle bummed. He wants to meet back with me in a few weeks after I keep a food journal. He wants me to document what I eat and jot down my thoughts about it. I agree that this will definitely help me be more successful after surgery, but I'm let down that it's going to take me even longer to get my information to UHC for approval. Now I'm nervous that he sees something that's making him not want to sign off on me to get the surgery. Did anyone else have to see the psychologist multiple times for approval?

85% of My Stomach is Missing! (Part one)
MRhynard11 commented on butterfyeffect's blog entry in My Journey to Skinny
Thanks for the awesome post! As someone who hasn't had my surgery yet, I found this really informative. I look forward to hearing how the rest of your recovery went! -
Hi! How did your surgery go? I noticed that Dr. Teel did it- he's doing mine also. How long were you in the hospital for? I still have kind of a ways to go in the process. I see the psychologist today and have already seen the nutritionist. I have UHC and they are only requiring me to do those 2 steps. Hopefully, I can get it approved and scheduled soon! The insurance lady at Dr. Teel's office said that I may be able to be scheduled for June. Anyway, just wanted to hear about your experience since I have the same doctor! Congrats! @@Dawn2680
