Unhappysleever replied to jarodnaaron's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums

I drink coke zero but waited 6 mths before trying it - no problems at all and for whatever reason only drink it on the weekends. Water and coffee only during the week.... Kind of my treat on the weekend By the way my surgeon is totally fine with me drinking it..

Are people hitting their protein goals when they started eating normal food. I have just reached 7 mths and maximum I can do is 50grms, sure I don't do shakes but this is around the same amount I used to consume prior to wls...

I used to love shakes now they are just blah I would rather try to get my protein from food but going by some replies I am not going to stress about it -
anyone REGRET the sleeve?
Unhappysleever replied to elpasovet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I regret it every damn day, 7 mths post op and even though it has got better I would never recommend this to anyone. When I did my research I thought yes this is what I want to do before I get old and have real health issues but I am with Susan. I was totally prepared to eat smaller meals but really to have to eat at a snails pace every single time is so tiring and cumbersome and yeah there are other things but no point going on and on...... -
I just posted this on another forum - How long did it take you to work out yr sleeve? I am 7 mths out and really have no idea. The only thing I notice is when I am full but I have read from many other sleevers that they really listen to their tummy, maybe I just don't get it

Secrets to eating slow
Unhappysleever replied to jjinWA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a week short of 7 mths and still have issues eating slow, i hope one day i can eat at a normal pace. If i eat to fast i can hardly eat anything without feeling so full... -
The only thing I ever wanted was a coke zero, I made myself wait 6 mths to have one, my surgeon was fine with it and it doesn't effect my sleeve at all... And for whatever reason I only drink it on the weekends!!!

I am starting to get tired on my snacks, really only have bananas or dried fruits with nuts sometimes stringy cheese, what are other people snacking on during the day - all ideas would be most helpful.....

@@njkelly, Just know you are not alone. I to suffered really bad with nausea for 4 mths straight, every single hour of the day! I have never suffered with depression but sent myself off for a chat, it kind of helped. My surgeon tried everything and nothing worked except motion sickness pills, took 1 every night for about a week one morning the nausea was gone. I am 6 mths out and still struggle with this NEW life but it's a little easier now than 2 mths ago. Pls pm me if you need to... -

Motion sickness and the sleeve
Unhappysleever posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I suffered pre-sleeve with motion sickness (planes, trains, buses, boats) anything that moves, i am fine in a car as long as i am driving. I am thinking of booking a trip which includes flying but not sure how my stomach will be after being sleeved. Has anyone else suffered with this and has it got better or worse after being sleeved??? -
I did an earlier post about motion sickness, how are people going flying after the sleeve??? I was never a great flier and with the nausea I had post op just wondering if I will get nausea worse than ever - I really need a holiday!!

Drinking While Eating
Unhappysleever replied to jbryant's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 6 mths out and always have a coffee every morning with my breakfast. I am able to drink right upto I eat any meal, however I do tend to wait at least 15 mins after my evening meal, I think it's more cause I am full, have occasionally had a sip while eating - no issue, on the other hand I am not very good at followng the rules to a 'T' -

Nausea after surgery
Unhappysleever replied to *Lexie*'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had nausea every single waking hour for 3 mths straight, just horrible:( -
Has anybody else been dealing with this??? I have just turned 6mths post op and my appetite is returning. Although I still don't eat a lot (maybe 4ozs plus 2 tbls of sides) some days I have 3 meals and 2-3 snacks. I also eat and never feel satisfied or full, I think I tend to undereat with my sleeve don't want to be sick but can't wait to eat more( what to do!!!) I have also found I can eat anything and not feel ill!!!
-
I have mentioned before how i find it difficult to eat slowly and think i pain i get just above where my stomach starts is because of eating to fast however this really does my head in even at nearly 6 mths out. So my question is when we have the gastric sleeve the only dynamics that change is the size of our stomach not where the food exits the esoephgus into the stomach, so if we measure why do we have to eat slow??? Would appreciate anyones reply but interested to here from vets when and if they can eat at a relatively normal pace and how far out you were.... I would feel so much better to eat my 'normal' pace

I still have it at 6 mths out, however its not as bad as it was but probably eased about mth 5, fingers crossed mine is gone soon.... some days it would just make me cry. -
Well today i hit 6 mths of being sleeved. Yes i had complications upto about 4 mths, still have reflux a couple of days out of the week and would love to just be able to eat a little more.... and at a normal pace as you all well know but i think that will come in time i have lost 88 lbs which i would never have been able to do by myself so for that i am thankful. I do have 1 question, i find myself still feeling tired, anyone else 6 mths out??? Each day it does get better, sometimes the regret of what did does come back but life goes on and we must just enjoy it

I never suffered with Gerd but after surgery i had it constantly, mine was not typical gerd, no heartburn or indigestion just the lump in my throat from the acid backing up and burning my throat. Basically my PPIs were making it worse. You need to take something like a tbls of honey in a little warm water to help soothe and coat the throat and esophagus. Hope it improves cause i hated having it every day......
