Hi - reporting in here for May 5th sleever! I hit 8 weeks yesterday and am down 40 pounds! Yahoo! I also figured how to get past my 3.5 week stall - eat more calories! My NUT said I had to increase my calories to 800 per day (was eating 400-500) because my body was in starvation mode and holding onto the fat. I started losing again once I increased my calories. Only 10 more pounds to wonderland! Super excited. How are all the other May sleevers doing out there?

I get the burp and if I do not stop I get a horrible pain in my left shoulder! It is enough to make me stop! -
4 weeks Post Op and Stuck

No, I have not. Does that work? Sounds strange to increase calories to lose weight. -
May 5th sleever here! I am on solid foods, but still get full super fast! I get pain in my left shoulder if I eat too much and very gassy and a twinge of pain in my chest and stomach area. I am getting in two protein shakes and about 2 meals a day. A meal is not much, but something. Having a hard time getting all my water in. Constipation is an issue so I have started using MiraLax. I am down 35 total (12 lost pre-surgery) and am on my 2nd stall. My current stall has lasted two weeks so I am BEYOND frustrated! I am working out 5 days a week and taking in 500 or less calories a day. What gives?!?!?!

4 weeks Post Op and Stuck
MichelleBryant replied to DaddyMarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank goodness for this thread! I was sleeved May 5th and I too am on a stall (actually this is my 2nd stall). I am down a total of 35 pounds (12 was lost prior to surgery on liquid diet). I had a 1 week stall at week 2, but I pushed through and started losing again. It has now been two weeks and not only have I not lost, but I have gained back 3 pounds!!!! How is that possible?!?!? I am under 500 calories a day and working out 5 days a week. I was told this would happen, but I am so frustrated! I am glad to know there are others out there going through the same thing. I hope the scale starts to move for all of us soon!!! If anyone has any tips, please let me know! -
My surgeon told me not to use a straw, but didn't tell me for how long. My post op apt. is not for a week so I was wondering how long others went before using a straw? I feel like I could meet my daily water intake better if I used a straw.

I was sleeved on the 5th. Feeling so much better than last week. Today I went for a 2 mile walk! I started on puréed foods and protein shakes yesterday. The 1st time it took me 45 mins to get down 2 tablespoons of food, but I can already see that improving. I just drank 5 oz. of a protein shake without issue. I made cauliflower mashed potatoes yesterday and that was really good. Breakfast has been yogurt and applesauce. I am sleeping through the night now and back in my own bed. I go back to work next Monday (two weeks post op). Still so amazed that I am not hungry. Has anyone tried cottage cheese yet?

TWO DAYS POST OP AND ALL IS WELL!
MichelleBryant replied to CrisH64's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 7 days post op and I feel so much better. The first few days were hard for me and drinking was painful. It has gotten easier. Keep walking and do what you can and you will be surprised how much better you will feel in a few days. I started to corner around 5 days post op, but yesterday and today are even better. Today is my first day on puréed foods. Hang in there! -

I noticed earlier this evening I had some discomfort in my left calf when I got up to walk - I am 4 days post op. I remembered that could be a sign of a blood clot so I looked at my paperwork - I don't have any of the other symptoms, but am still kind of worried. It is only when I walk and it is more discomfort than pain - feels like your calf would after a hard workout and your calf is a bit tight. Any thoughts? Should I be worried? Of course now it is the weekend and the office is closed. Anyone else have this?

sleeve post op sore throat
MichelleBryant replied to ninan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on Monday as well. I had a sore throat too and still do to some degree. My surgeon said it was from the breathing tube down my throat during surgery and the scope they put down to check everything before they wake you up. I am also having trouble getting all my liquids in - my chest and stomach feel very full. Have you tried sugar free Popsicles or warm broth? That helps me a little bit. Looking forward to healing and not being sore. -
Late Night Walks Anyone?
MichelleBryant replied to Comeflywithme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on May 5th as well. Things are getting a little better every day. I have stopped taking my pain med as I didn't feel it was doing much and it was hard to get down. My chest hurts a little when I swallow and I feel very full. As a result, I am not getting all my water in, but eating a few Popsicles per day and a little broth. Also a little bit of de-caf tea. I am trying to get up every few hours to walk. Sleeping is the hardest part for me as I am so uncomfortable in every position I try. I am grateful for not being hungry and losing already. The gassiness and bloating is still there - wonder how long that takes to subside. Good luck and keep up your walking. -
Not sure why 6 incisions - they told me that going in - maybe just how they do it? I did have a hernia repaired at the same time so maybe that was it? This was my 1st surgery so no scar tissue to deal with.

Slimk - how are you doing now? I had my surgery on May 5th. I am getting a little better every day, but still having a hard time getting all my liquids in. I can really tell if I take too big of a sip - it is uncomfortable. Haven't even tried protein drink yet since water is still difficult. I am happy that I am not hungry and I am down 17 pounds since pre-op visit (5 since surgery). I am beginning to wonder when the drinking will get easier? Curious as to how you are doing with everything?

Hi - I am 2nd day post op and having a hard time sleeping. I am not a back sleeper at all so I am struggling. How long until you can sleep on your side or stomach? I can't sleep in my bed - recliner is a little better, but still not getting much sleep. When can I expect to be able to sleep on my side? Also. Is all this gurgling in my stomach and chest normal? Even taking my liquid pain medicine is painful to get down. Does this get better? A couple of my incision spots are very painful - I am getting up to walk. But it is difficult. I am hoping someone will tell me all of this gets easier.

Thanks everyone! That makes me feel better. Not happy about having to sleep on my back that long, but it needs to be done. I am happy that I am down 14 pounds since my pre-op apt. and I am down 2 pounds since my surgery. Loving not being hungry!

Hi everyone! I had my surgery yesterday, 5/5. I just got home from the hospital. I have 6 incisions and two of them hurt pretty bad. Getting in or out of bed is the worst. I also have a lot of shoulder pain from the excess gas. I was out of it most of yesterday so did not start feeling the pain until last night. I am so relieved it is over - I was super nervous. Also glad to report that I am not hungry - a welcome change from the pre-op liquid diet.
