Feeling No restriciton and FUSTRATED!
Honeyduen replied to zippyz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello people! It is just soooooo nice to find this thread, I am on another wls site but you know if you have a couple then you really can start to beleive what you are reading. Pre op I lost 20lbs which I am chuffed with. Then 2wks post op I have lost 2kg < 6lbs> I thought this was okay not fab but okay .....:mellow:Well ! ....I can't tell you how pissed I was yesturday when I got a letter from a lady I met in hospital that had the same band on the same day as me she lost an amazing 8kg <17lbs>. Then I thought 'Hold on a min .....My band must not be in the right place. THEN IT ALL HAPPENED....Well I checked all the sites phoned the Doctor- Basically I turned in to a right fruitcake yesturday.... Can't say I am cured because like yourselves I am frustrated at the fact that the op has not given me quicker results. I had some Reductil in the cupboard that the Gp had prescribed for me six months prior to surgery ...........So I though well if this bastard band is going to take so long I am not waiting to fail . < not that I advocate taking suppressents ; But at 24 stone the NHS said I was not fat enough for them to help - I had to borrow money to pay for this operation and I will be damned if I am going to let my hunger or anything else get in my way.> Armed with that and going swimming once my scars are healed I am hoping that works. I have 30 day supply and my first fill is in two weeks......I have also asked my Gp to arrange a bariam x ray for me to make sure this band is in the right place for my peice of mind. See I was just one plain Lunatic yesturday :frown:.... It does shame me but probably the question that I should ask and will ask is this{ How does the docs or anyone know without doing a scan after op that the band is postioned correctly - What about slippage - I am thinking of chaning my name to LOON in need of facts.} I hope my unfortunateness unability to lose weight at this point puts a smile on some knowing persons face......Totally unprepared for this phase of the Operation - My own stupid fault should of read and re read .. Oh well ! -

Honeyduen replied to fairydust's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Whoo Hooo !! Just wanted to say hi, I got banded by Dr De Bruyne on the 15th of Jan 2008, I am very dissapointed in my weight loss thus far as it has only been 2kg.. Another person who got banded the same time as me has lost 8kg - so you can see I am pissed. My Dr normaly does double fills but he does not do them here so I am thinking of finding a fill provider in the uk ... and possibly opting for Nhs treatment. I look forward to finding out how your journey has gone. -

1st Step Deciding and GP visit in the Uk - NHS
Honeyduen commented on Honeyduen's blog entry in My NHS Journey in the UK.
Well I have been battling with my weight for years and tried every diet known to man - Well there are very few I am sure I have not embarked due to financial matters. Anyhow my last venture was just doing the Atkins diet for the 4th time.. I failed previously because I had no imagination what to eat just the same boring foods. This time I found plenty of recipies and a good support system. I however lost 5lbs in the first three days< which thrilled me to bits>. On the six day I had some light coke which said it had one carb. .... Well without using bad language it was rubbish. I put on 5lbs overnight. This really took the wind out of my sails and I was really deppressed. I rememberd my doctor saying that with my family's history being so bad and with the amont of weight I had to lose she would do her best to put my case forward if I wanted. I had my appointment with her yesterday. She said that it will not be a overnight process and could take months to go ahead .... I don't care right now. I just think that having done research everyone that has had it done their life has improved. I feel a bit embarressed that I have to take such severe action to get my life back. But you know ... It is available and a Gods send. So if it helps why not....... It is not up to others it is for me. I have been on UTUBE and there are some really amazing stories . .. It really does help to see real people going through this Journey. So if you guys have a story post it . It gives hope. And if you are starting out - God Bless and see you when you are back.. xxxxxxx -

Hello from Dorset in the UK...Newbie !!
Honeyduen posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello all, I have so many questions and I am so nervous about going for this lapband procedure - I know that it will probably let me live longer, Should all go well. I am 34 yrs old and weigh in at 315lbs - 22 stone and 6lbs. I have been overweight for most of my life. I managed to get down to 130 lbs when I was a teenager by using laxitives and throwing up. My mother is a big woman too and she developed Diabetes at 36 yrs of age - her Father had it and her sister has it two. The most awful thing happened when she got gangerene in her foot due to neuropathy in her feet - She had three toes taken away . Now just 2yrs ago they found a brain tumor and she is too ill to operate on ... I have two lovely children and a wonderful husband , I just have tried diet after diet pill after pill... I don't want to end up like my mother and grandfather and Aunty. It scares me and everytime I fail I get soooo depressed I am now being treated for depression. . . . . I am off to see my doctors tomorrow and ask if I can be put on the waiting list - She said she would help me the last time I saw her when she gave me reductil tables which worked for about 3 weeks then wore off. I am presently on the atkins diet I have lost 6lbs in one week but I know I just can't live on this diet for life and am probably going to put all the weight on when I come off. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/images/smilies/faint.gif I am very excited about the lapband but wanted to know these things? Has anyone in the UK had it ? Who is the best surgeon here? Did you too have to go on a waiting list? How long did you have to wait? I am scared of dying on the table < a bit silly I know but is true... What is the worst thing about the operation and the Best thing < obiously the weight thingee lol..... Well thank you for reading up till here. :car: I look forward to making new friends and hearing from you...... http://www.lapbandtalk.com/images/smilies/clap2.gif xxx -
