I hate a lot of you. I really do.

Haven't ya noticed that people you do not know are either pretty or not so pretty. But people you know are pretty based on WHO they are? Soem seemingly unattractive individuals become down right striking when their personality is matched to their face. Some get real ugly once they open their mouths. I bet you fall far closer to striking than the other end of the spectrum.

What if what made us fat keeps us fat?

Let me tell you as a living breathing sugar addict, you can curb that too with lap band. Here is how: When eating your fat for the day, choose good olive oil and lots of Omega 3. IF you get in your protien and do this, your sugar craving will actuallly be quelled. I didn't eat sugar for over a year doing this. It worked. If I was low on that the craving tried to sneak in and I adjusted my Protein and good fat and it went away. Never say never.......
  3. ask your surgeon or coordinator if they have someone they can refer you to. Remember this is a social science, not a hard science. 1 + 1 does noe always = 2. Especially when the psych is biased. Do a bit of research to find out who is WLS friendly. They may just be smelling an op to get a client.
  4. OH MY!!!! That is just another reason to NOT get surgery in Mexico Not to mention the band they use, despite what they tell people from Las Vegas, CANNOT be filled in Vegas as nobody will treat the non FDA approved band. Good luck! :ranger:
  5. I SOOOOO want to get started and feel like I am moving forward. Monday was my seminar and I have taken the information and run with it. I looked at the check list in my information package and burst from teh starting blocks. I called my Ins. and confirmed my requirements. I set up my physical exam and contacted my psychologist for his evaluation. (surgeon said to use him since he has my history). I have had my labs and Friday will consult with PCP for referral. I signed up for the My Health Manager web page that we are required to sign up for and filled out the two hour history they asked for. My program coordinator has not yet given me the post-seminar call. I realize that I am impatient, but I have waited all my adult life for something like this and so want to get it under way. Anyone else in the same boat>>>>>>>>
  6. As far as trying to fake it don't. The 500 pus questions are designed to determine if you ARE lieing becasue there are repeates done in different ways and you will not get it right if you are not honest. That being said, I had MAJOR depression 10 years ago. I mean MAJOR. I have seen a psychologist for many years. At this point I mainly go just to BS. (once a month). I asked my surgeon if he could do teh eval and he said yes as he has my history. Even if he had said no, I would have had him do a letter with my history to bolster my chances. I simply cannot see how a psychologist who runs you through a few hour test can trump a ten year relationship with someone who worked you through the worst time of your life all the way through getting my life together, completing undergraduate school, going on to law school and passing one of the countries most difficult bar exams. Now, I think HE can demonstrate I ahve the tools to deal with stressful situations. :clap2:
  7. Thanks for your consideration. I wondered, too, about the head hunger factor. I guess I am hoping the desire not to make myself sick will help. I have so much yet to learn as I have gone to the seminar and am awaiting a call from the doc to start the next step. I don't come here as much as the other forum I go to. BUt I find both to be of great value. :whoo:
  8. I think we both are on the very same page about accepting responsibility ... and FAT is surely what I am -- especially given I am pre-band. I am as excited as anyone undertaling this adventure and am sure there is some corner of my being that hopes beyond hope that I will wake up with a band in AND all the weight off...(much like I hoped my uterus weighed 80 pounds instead of 8 grams when I had it removed) In the end, though, it is about ALL of us being healthy and happy........one of the posters on another site I go to was denied surgery and along with MANY OTHER FACTORS, took her life and the life her special needs child. THAT is what we must defend against happening to the extent we have the power, however little power it is. Good day and thank you for the honest eschange of ideas.
  9. Well, as long as we are talking about our humble opinions, a closer read of the original post reveals a very telling clue that you seem to have missed....that being the statement that the psych evals fail to weed out the weaklings that cannot face the realitites of the band. IMeversoHO, this is not simply a post about the poster coming to Jesus on this it was a direct diminishment of those who have gone an extended period of time and not become Twiggy, and I stand by my position. :heh:
  10. Yes, the band is but one tool and people know that. The psyche eval is not designed to find only obsessive compulsives who can succeed at a 99% rate. What is telling about this thread, is that the title baits people to come here and then attempts to beat less sucessful people up. To what end? Do ya feel better now? what assistance did you think you were giving the potential reader here. I am glad you are doing well and wish you all of the best in your journey. However, in a few months if you get weak, remember what you wrote here and take some of your own medicine. :car:

    BC/BS of California

BCCA here and I live in Nevada. I have to be careful becasue my policy says I have to go to certain center in CA, but since I do not live there, I can go to approved facility here. I am just starting, but was told yesterday there is no supervised weight loss program that is a prerequeisite, just that I have done them in the past. :car:
