  4. ITA w Recycled. They probably make some money, the same as with other prescriptions. Another thought- if it's prescribed, maybe insurance covers it? IDK.

    Im 52...5 weeks Post Op

I highly recommend Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds DVDs. (no affiliation) I have 11 of her DVDS that are in rotation, along with others (Jillian Michaels, Jari Love) Start doing 5, 10 , 15 mins or so, whatever you can do, and before you know it you'll be doing 3 miles. It took me 6 weeks to get to 3, it's a gradual process. Before I hurt my back back in January I could do 6 miles. I'm 57. No athleticism required for WATP. Love them. Great for really hot or cold days. HTH & Good luck!

    Real coffee?

AR40 I've been drinking decaf green tea. I'm pretty sure Celestial Seasonings makes it, it should be at your grocer. It also comes in different flavors in my area, I like spearmint best. HTH

    Any Richmond, Va sleevers?

Drinking water is one of my 3 adjustments thus far. I've also cut out all carbonation (boo hoo!) and weaning off caffeine. So far these are my obstacles. I set alarm on my phone to remind me about water. It's not that I don't like water, I simply forget! I have menopause brain.

BCBS FEDERAL BMI requirements for sleeve

I have BCBS fed in Virginia. (standard plan) From what I understand your BMI must 40 or >, or it can be between 35 & 40 with 2 co-morbidities. I have to be in 3 month med supervised plan and have 2 yrs weight history. HTH!!

    Any Richmond, Va sleevers?

Hi skinniminiwannabe! I love your user name. I'm in Fredericksburg. My surgeon will be Brennan Parmody MD, Bon Secours. I'm in month 2 of my PCP supervised diet (BCBS Fed) I can't wait for surgery!
  15. Hi Nancy E! looks like we're on similar timelines. I'm also on my 2nd month (of 3) on my supervised diet, hopefully looking at Jul or Aug. I'm 57 and asked myself the same questions about the ol' skin. someone said, on this board or another(?), "nothing looks as good as healthy feels". Amen to that!! I'm REALLY looking forward to it!
  16. Good luck to all who have surgery today! Can't wait to hear how you're doing.
  17. I'm sure I'll get flamed here, but I'm not sure I wouldn't go on holiday in Mexico, so you can imagine how I feel about having surgery there. Just MHO. The crime rate is bad in some areas, due to the cartels.

After so many years of trying hundreds of diets, I feel like I'll be seeing light at the end of the tunnel. THANK YOU!! Your story is SO MUCH more inspirational than Marie Osmond's! ; )

    RNY or the Sleeve

Thanks elfnow for the clarification on reversibility. your comment "I hate the idea of my guts being rearranged..." , made me laugh so hard. That's how I feel too. After reading your reply and several others, I'm pretty convinced on the sleeve.

    RNY or the Sleeve

Hi Taterbum! I'm going thru the same thought process. In my situation either one would work, according to the surgeon. It's all up to me. The way I see it, each procedure has its pros and cons: I hesitate that I may have 75% of my stomach removed and have it be irreversible, or having my intestines completely "rerouted". I'm still in the early stages, as my insurance requires 3 month PCP diet. Some days I'm full throttle with the sleeve, the other days I'm full speed ahead with the bypass. Have definitely ruled out the band. so much great info here; I'm learning a lot from this great support forum. Good luck & let us know what you decide. And give some pointers on how you came to your decision. : )
