Water Bottle + Other Recommendations?
athena3127 replied to heynowkc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found Tupperware has a great 3 section plate with lid that's for toddlers. I'm not to the point of using them yet. However, my mom had the surgery in May and they help keep portions small. I'm actually only a little over 5wks out and still in restrictions. I use a small condiment cup to keep the portions super small and my sister found me small o'hourderve spoon and forks. They are tiny and keep things from being big bites and make you go slow. So far I personally feel they are helpful. You have to find what works for you -

My surgeon has been outstanding. And yes I do have both zofran and phenagrin from the dr as well as a script to reduce tummy acid. I think I'm just in a learning curve lol. I got to start many new things on Thursday. So far a soft scrambled egg is just simply amazing! -

I am in the 11-4 club as well! I'm so happy to be here. I seem to be hanging on to the nausea I should have come off the purée foods today adding in soft cooked and a few other items however I've been so sick I didn't want to push my luck. Journey started at 348 and progressed to surgery at 312. Moving right along to my 2 week post op of 295 I them progressed to the scale reading 288 today on my one month mark. 24lbs in 30 days! That's equal to .000555555556 lbs per min I'm feeling good except when I attempt to eat anything. I am still unable to get in all my Protein and liquids for the day. I am going to my first support group meeting Monday night. My surgeon and Nut provide such a well rounded support system and head up the support meetings. They are truley their for the patience. I wore 26-28 pants and now everything is super baggy. However I happen to have my fav jeans that I hadnt worn for 3 1/2 years that now fit with no effort. I was size 4-5x shirt and they are now my sleep shirts as I'm in 1-2x shirts. I had to down size the bra and panties before they just fell off. I am however in the same size socks but the shoes are even a bit loose now. Yahoo for the socks. Always find the silver linning of your day and be thankful. You could have more and yet in the same hand you could have so much less. Happy day to everyone! Hugs -

Welcome aboard ! I'm sorry that you have had a negative Nancy cross your path. I can understand. I have not hidden the fact I was having the surgery. In fact I have been very open and willing to talk to anyone with pure excitement. This my dear is you. Making a choice to do something for yourself. For your own health. Those who say "easy" way out simply have no idea what the journey contains! Walk a mile in my shoes before passing judgement. I don't know you however I would stand behind you and support your choice. Because at the end of the day it really is your choice and your health. I just had my surgery 11-4. And the week prior to surgery I had a coworker (who is herself morbidly obese) ask me Why I was having the surgery. This is someone that I listen complain daily about the amount of walking that is required. Who refuses to come to the back breakroom because she doesn't want to walk back to the time clock to clock back in after break... My reply was blunt direct and honest. I said...well it's like this ..I am doing this for me. I physically have no health issues outside of the fact I am fat. I have high blood pressure because of my weight. My knees hurt because of my weight and that goes the same for the feet. I want to live until I'm old and don't want all the body aches an pains that this weight will cause. So I am doing this for me. So that I can say I did this. I took drastic measures to solve a problem I had in my life. The results although new already shine through... Even though I have had some serious nausea and been sick very often over the past few weeks. I am happy with my choice. Nothing is ever easy in life. Just making the choice was a hard decision... That's the first step of many you will be taking....shame shame on your friend who doesn't simply say . "You are my friend and I support you in whatever you do as long as it is what YOU want to do and it makes you happy"... Sorry for the ramble -
Yahoo!!! I am excited for you! I remember that day myself. Tomorrow is my one month! Enjoy those last real food meals! Heheh liquid and purée are ahead of you.

Hey I'm part of the 40 mg omeprazole club as well! Have you checked with your surgeon? Hope you feel better soon. As for the amount of weight lost in the amount of time...well I don't think there are any rules or promises. The main thing is that you stay focused on staying on track and stay positive. One pound lost is better than a pound gained any day in my book. I haven't looked at the scale in a bit. Tomorrow is my one month surgery day as long as the scale shows a number less than the one from the 19th I'll be happy! And realize the pouch is doing it's thing!

Any puréed turkey recipes that are decent out there?
athena3127 replied to fuzzyangelbear's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm in the last day of purée foods myself. Been on them for the past two weeks. I did exactly as what she said. Purée with turkey gravey and purée with BBQ sauce. However keep in mind you will only need a little ... Or that's what I would do. Glad I think has great little containers that are about 4oz in size. They can go in the freezer or microwave. I had several from making my nephews baby food when he was an infant and they seem to be the perfect size. Experiment and play around. -
And if you want to look at it positively that calculates to about .00036376 lbs per min!

Patience grasshopper patience. I can understand in today's world of fast pace cars, quick internet, fast food, and instant messages or snappy chats sometimes we can loose focus that all good things come in time. I personally don't want to loose too quickly. If I were to wake up tomorrow at my goal weight what on green earth would one do with all the extra skin ? Give your body time to adjust slow down and realize all blizzards start with one falling snowflake and a forest starts with one tree. So have patience and appreciate what you have accomplished! You are one of the fortunate ones that has been able to follow through and successfully have the surgery. There are many people that don't have healthcare that takes part and financially can't afford to self pay. take time to stop and smell the roses. And enjoy every ounce you loose one at a time!

Welcome to the site! And congratulations for jumping off the deep end... Yahoo! Wishing you a wonderful experience and safe travels.

I personally want to thank you for post! This is one of the better posts I've read thus far. Brutal honesty and accountability. You have put the spotlight directly on accountability which we must all task ourselves with as we walk our own journeys. Together we support each other in the ups and downs of the roller coaster ride giving helpful hints and tricks to make it through the difficult times. Celebrating the next pound lost and rejoicing in the victory of our accomplishments. Answering the before and after questions that the newbies bring to the board for we all were a newbie at one point. Again I thank you for your post. We are all faced with a series of great opportunities brilliantly disguised as impossible situations. Charles R. Swindoll.

Oh wow wish I had found this page last week! Great ideas on here thanks to those who contributed! Because I'm still new an learning I do pretty much bits and pcs of the above and use one of the mini food choppers. I use tiny fork and spoon and a condiment cup on a teacup saucer. Makes me feel like I'm really getting a plate full lol. -

Yep yep. Sleeve 11-4 all going splendid except for my battle with nausea. It's not so bad now however I still have my days. Have faith and say your prayers. -
My sleeve date was 11-4. I went to my first post op apt on 11-19 and was down 17lbs. I was happy. However I seem to have stalled but remain on track while trying to enjoy the baby food stage lol one step at a time. I don't feel my friendly scale has moved much HOWEVER. I did manage to pull a pair of jeans from the closet that are 4yeArs and many sizes smaller than I've been wearing. I looked at them last week and said I'll Hang on to them because I want to get back in those one day. So tonight before bed I thought I would give them a try. Zipped and fastened! OM gollywompers! I can not express the joy that came to me with that final zip. I had been in 26 or 28 jeans these are 20s I was in 30-32 shirt and found my sister left her xl sweater here that I put on to find it fits. Needless to say my sister lost her sweater. I am so happy with this little sleeve I could just jump for joy.!

In the appeal process.. Advice and support needed!
athena3127 replied to blissfulbeing's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
And don't be afraid to call your insurance company yourself to get the status and ask how you can help. We we're actually in the waiting period when I called just to follow up during my lunch break. At first if was told it was denied. When I explained that I knew it was origional my denied but had been resubmitted for reconsideration she told me to hold...the. Said oh I see here yes it's approved and gave me the approval code. -
same here

Now listen here newbie! said with a smile. This road your on is gonna get a little bumpie. However I assure you it will be worth it in the end. My dr said 6month diet PLUS loose x number of pounds. That my dear was the toughest. Where my mother who had the exact same surgery exact same dr had to do nothing in her 6month diet. She was told not to loose in the 6month window. Just the difference in insurance. You have a great support system here on this site. We have either already been through or are in the middle of going through this together. You are never alone on here. You can do this. Your half way there and with each passing day the time shortens. Use this time to prep yourself. Find a protein drink you like. Start to clean out your pantry of food high in carbs. Utilize the time to your advantage and your surgery day will be here before you know it! Hugs of support!

I went through the same thing at first. My dr office wS wonderful to follow up the moment the claim was denied. They already had a second request issued before I received anything in the mail. I followed up with phone calls and kept a note pad in case I was advised of something I could write everything Down to insure they had everything they needed within a quick amount if time. I was lucky very lucky my first request was issued and denied the. Reissued with additional documentation that had been requested and next approved all within a little over a week. It was a scary stressful week. Take action to help assist in anyway possible and if at first it is denied ask specific questions. Sometimes it's all in the way things are worded. I am Greatful my dr office was on board as much as I was and once approved we all were excited. I'll say a prayer yours goes through. Stay focused and positive. -
