Abuse of wls..when it's not needed

I can only say that it seems there are always going to be those we simply do not understand. I don't waste my time trying to figure out why people do what they do anymore. I'm sure if one were to really look you might even find someone who had WLS just to loose 25lbs.. What works for some doesn't work for others. There are always rule breakers within any group. It isn't my place to judge. The only thing I can worry about and stay focused on is myself and my journey.

I feel like a deflating balloon!

Oh what a feeling isn't it? I remember the first day post op that I "felt" different. I everything I had on that day seemed ever so slightly a bit large. There's an old movie "the increatable shrinking woman" and that was exactly how I felt! Keep in shrinking!

    Toast and crackers

I added crAckers and cheese at wk 5. However toast sti isn't on my list. I can try tortillas but they don't work in my sleeve so I leave them out. I was so excited to have crackers! It was the texture! Just watch the portions and slowly add them back. Hugs of support

Way to go on your success this far! A helpful hint or suggestion on the scrubs.... Unless you are loaded with $ have you thought of checking the goodwill or consignment shops? You could maybe sell your old ones and get slightly used ones until your at your goal. This was the best tip brought up in the support group meeting is to hit consignment shops up for clothes while your in transition until your at goal. Often times you can find perfectly good clothes. The scrubs section at out local goodwill ship is huge! All kinds color or size! happy scrubbing
  5. The nut will help calm your fears. I could have no meat of any kind. Any other baby food was ok. I loved the gerber multigrain Cereal as it reminded me of Cheerios! And I would make it using my Protein drink. HOWEVER! I wasn't eating an entire bowel of anything. Simply a few oz at a time. I have an awesome mini chopper that will mush up anything into baby food consistency. Loved roasted veggies. Also search the board for the baked riccota Best wishes for you.
  6. Plain old h2o is something I still can't handle and I'm 7 going on 8 wks out. I can handle juice, sf decaf tee or coffee, just about anything EXCEPT water it's normal. If I even take a few sips I'm in trouble within a few min! nausea or simply a very uncomfortable sleeve. So I use crystal light, g2, sf flavor packets. It all helps in getting down the liquids

    Honeymoon phase?

Post op the weight just seemed to fall off daily. The. I hit the "3 week stall" it's true where things got real. I even gained which freaked me out! However post op the focus shouldn't be on the scale. The focus should be on getting in protein and liquid and following dr orders. All else will fall into place. The closer you get to goal the slower the weight loss will become.... I'm only 7wks out but have a long journey ahead of myself. Just don't view the surgery as the "easy" way because it is far from that... It is difficult and you must learn your new sleeve.
  8. Ask your Dr. I had to wait until my 6wk checkup to get cleared to do anything outside of walking. and I did walk all I could. Hugs of support
  9. Yahoozzie! Look at you go man go! Awesome job keep on loosing!
  10. Surgery 11-4 and had no real issues other than nausea. I had zero pain and was walking post op surgery day. Sleeping on my side out of recovery and I'm sure I could have been on my stomach if I didn't have the drain tube. Surgery was Tuesday and was discharged Thursday then back to work Monday. I do get a little tired at times but then I had days preop that I didn't have the same level of energy anyway. At 7 wks I'm down 33lbs. Love the choice to take a path that I did in this journey.
  11. athena3127

    Just curious

I had sleeve on 11-4 and have 6 tiny places. The drain hole was the largest and it may have been 1/2" total if that
  12. Back at you! May you have a wonderful day. Wishing you all the happiness this holiday season.

    2 Days post op

Things will improve. My sleeve early out made sounds I never heard in my life before. And still at times I wonder what alien is inside of me

    Feeling Guilty 4 days out

Smooth move tea can easily be found at Wal-mart and costs less than $3, I have a box yet I have not yet tried the stuff. I have read others who say it's great and others who don't care for the stuff. As with anything all our taste and tolerances are so very different. Keep in mind that if your just out of surgery and had 2wks clear liquid and have been on liquid only it may not be a true issue YET. I suggest checking with your dr for the best advise

    I'm so fat....

Hold on who let negAtive nancy into your world? Kick her to the corner! Find the positive! Look I'm speaking for myself and nobody else when I say hey I'm fat and I know it. That's why I had WLS. Because I made a choice to do something about it and it seems you did as well. So you slipped and boy did you pay the price! I would have been super scared of the pasta! Oh my my! I'm 7wks and as per my nut Pasta isn't on the table for many many more weeks. Heck I'm having issues with many thing. Do you have yourself refocused. There is a baked ricotta I've seen posted that would help with the cravings. Get creative with small batches off food that your program allows. If your still on liquid make flavor packed Soups and get in all the liquid and Protein you can. It will get better. Stay focused on the prize and the next time your tempted do a quick recall on this event and how you felt. I'm certain that will help

    Hot fries?

I'm a bit perplexed. I'm 7wks out and have a difficult enough time getting down the things that are on the list provided by the nut. I can understand "testing" things to see how they go down, after all that is part of the learning process. The dr made it clear that as I go along there may be things the new sleeve just rejects. There may actually be healthy things that my tummy just will never handle. So the confusion comes from the choice...you could have said hey I tried a celery stalk just to see how my tummy would handle it and I know the replies would have still been why? After all celery is a healthy item. At the end of the day it is simply your choice and yours alone. No matter what I or anyone else says if your truly happy with the decision then so be it. I certainly do not want you to take my post as anything negative as those are not my intentions at all. Sometimes people(like me) simply post things that maybe others( like yourself) might not have thought about.. We are here to support one another in this journey. This journey is a long path and old habits are often difficult to overcome. As for myself I am having to reprogram my own mind on priority of Protein and liquid and what my body NEEDS first. Most people post out of support because we want you to be successful in your journey. This site stands to be your personal cheerleading board. Here trough ups and downs and shouting from the roof tops " use caution" to help you on the journey and should serve to force you to look within yourself to change old habits and ways of eating that got each of us to the point of needing WLS in the first place. Hugs of support and sorry for the ramble. Please continue with normal programming

    Hot fries?

Exactly what BLERDgirl said... With this tool you must take time to allow your tummy to heal properly. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. Fried anything will typically also have salts and it's a step that you just don't really want to take so newly sleeved. Just regroup yourself and focus on healthy choices. Don't give in to the temptation of old favorite that might be calling. I know it's hard. But with your new sleeve making new choices will make things easier and help you in the long run. Hugs of support!

    5 weeks post-op

I had surgery 11-4 and had an apt with my dr this past Monday. He advised a loss of 1-2lbs per week is acceptable. We all loose at various rates. I know my own loss has slowed down because I'm not getting enough intake. This could be part of the issue for you as well. Are you getting your liquids and proteins in during the day? Increased physical activity of any kind helps. Even if you are simply doing chair exercises. Don't rush things and follow Drs instructions.

    Sleeve countdown!

7wks post op and things get easier each and every day! Once you have the surgery you simply need to allow your tummy time to heal. I still have issues with liquid and protein intake. But tomorrow is a new day and I'll try again tomorrow hugs of support!

    Post-OP Liquid Diet Phase

Does your liquid stage allow full liquid? Or simply clear? Sounds like you might be on the more full liquid. I have searched every shelf at the local markets for "things" which were allowed at the various stages. Pre surgery I stocked up on soups of all kinds! Campbell's should send me coupons I have so many cans... Yet as you said taste changes and things I loved before taste like midwater and I just can't stand. Although I'm at 7wks now and past my purée stage I find my self reverting back to soups. Have you tried to simply make your own? Get creative in the kitchen just in small batches use various spices to come up with new flavored you might enjoy. I even found a great pumpkin soup that was delicious! Most veggies can be cooked down blended and made into a nice soup or soup base that falls within the liquid stage allowances. Wishing you the best of luck.
  25. I'm loving this little sleeve and just had to share! 69lbs from journey start. Surgery date 11-4 surgery weight 312 7 weeks today Current weight 279 Happy to be a successful looser!
