    Coffee?

Had my first cup day after surgery once I was cleared from leak check. Now I have one to two cups in the morning and I add protein mix

    Coffee

2 cups for me sipped slowly at my desk while I'm working away. I had coffee the day after surgery once my leak check was finished I love it specially in the cold winter months. I also sip warm tea at times.

    Juicing

I agree. My nut accepts small amounts of juice but wi specifically tell you eat. You gotta get all the things going into your body.

    I'm kinda disappointed

I was sleeved 11-4-14 and wasn't released to do any exercise until 12-22. However my dr did advise to walk walk walk. Not run but general slow paced walking. It helped prevent gas and kept my body moving and healing. Sitting doing Absolutly nothing is never a good idea. I do understand it's cold outside. However you can always walk in place for 15min ever hour. Those steps add up! Trust me. Before I was discharged after surgery I got up and walked. Just a little up and down the halls. The. I would rest and repeat. The day after surgery I walked 1/2 mile and two days post op I walked over a mile. Simple short walks rest and repeat. I wasn't running a race. I was just moving. I think that helps. I'm down 35lbs but I'm in a stall . lack of getting in enough fluid and calories will stall out your weight loss also. Stay focused and try to add something new each day. If u simply walk to the kitchen to get an ounce of wAter or fluid then you will be walking to the kitchen 64 times during the day challenge yourself to take 10 more steps today than you did yesterday. Things will fall into place for you.
  6. I have my journey start weight for when I started the paperwork and insurance process. Them I have surgery weight that was taken right before going back to the surgery room and post op weights have been from dr visits
  7. Cheers to pants falling down! I'm a happy November sleever as well. It drives me simply mad to see those who wear the low sagging pants...that being said I work in the far back of a huge warehouse. In the morning as I walk to my office I feel my pants slowly slip step by step. I'm constantly pulling them up. I would simply die if they dropped to my ankles. I started out in a 26-28 and I found a pair of jeans in the back of the closet that were 20s and I bought a size 20 !skinny jeans last week. I have been washing everything in. HOT and everything goes in the dryer. I am holding out as long as I can to buy very much for the closet. I'm down 33lbs from surgery which makes it a total of 69 thus far in my journey. I started at the gym last week. And I am simply thankful for every step of my journey. I agree positive thoughts, energy, and prayer will get you through anything. I too will have you in my prayers for happy health and continued loosing success!
  8. It's a forever change. My cousin had her surgery 3 -4 years ago and still follows this step. Sorry my nut did advise that during a meal should you "need" a drink a super tiny sip would be ok however it should be minimal.

    Trouble already!

Just an added note your taste will start to change. So although you might not like something now. In a few weeks it might be more appealing. Wishing you happy healing
  10. Again I had no pain. As I stated I felt only with nausea. My dr would allow only ice chips until the leak test. One I had the leak test again my dr ordered only one oz per your and that was all they would allow me to have. Next it was increased to two oz per hour. From what it seems to me there are a few reasons. 1- dr is forced me to slowly do things because I was post op and it wAs safer. 2- pre op I would have been able to down a glass of 16oz water without even thinking. Directly after surgery your mind isn't in tune with the fact your new tummy can no longer hold the same amount. Had I drank a large amount I would have ended up getting sick and that would have been hard on the new stomach and risked complications. So slow is good. Another thing is the stomach is a bit swollen from the surgery itself. From the recovery room forward your stomach will need time to heal. That's why Drs provide with various food phases. This provides you with the chance to learn how to eat and drink again. It is all new post op and going slowly give you a chance to learn the new "full" feeling. Your tummy just needs a chance to heal and regroup post op. And I'm still healing/learning. It's a slow process and that's ok. Never try to rush things. Your body will tell you if your not ready. I know mine sure did

    Drain

During the surgery they placed a drain line that I kep while in the hospital. It was removed the day of discharge. So basically I had the drain for 2 days. The drain site is no larger than any of the other surgery scars I have. They are going away in time as I'm only 9 wks out

    Phenergan

My dr gave me zofran after I went home that wasn't enough to help as my nausea seemed to be a beast. He prescribed me phenergan. So I have them both. I only use the phenergan when the zofran doesn't seem to kick it. Hugs of support.

    The "bariatric Blues"

Don't flip out over 2lbs gain. That alone could simply be Water. You just had major surgery and need to take a moment of "me" time. I do understand that can be difficult at times. But your health is important. Depending on your stage start slowly to add in things during your say because you HAVE to do this to get your groove back. You will be doing it however in tiny steps. As a hairdresser you should have time for a sip every client throughout the day. Start a plan like a sip every 15 min and move forward building. I know starting out it sounds so far off key. But little things will help get you where h need to be. Hugs of support!

    Protein

I agree on GNC and another option is mixing in decaf coffee. That is a huge help for me specifically on cold mornings.
  16. First thing I said after surgery was I'm freezing because the room was like ice. Next thought was I felt so nauseated that I felt I was about to get sick. Mainly this was from the anesthesia. I was lucky to never feel the physical pain anywhere in my stomach. Still haven't. We at all different and experiance things differently. Plus all Drs are different. I wasn't able to drink anything after surgery. I was allowed ice chips however only one small oz cup per your. I was on IV fluids. The next morning I had my leak check between 9am-10am and once cleared I could them have 1oz of clear liquid and I must say that first sip of apple juice was amazing! It took me a full hour to sip that one oz. by the end of the day I was up to two oz per hour. I hope things go wonderful for you.

    Egg Drop Soup?

In my full liquid stage I could do egg drop soup if I strained out any "egg" pcs. Full liquid for me also included cream of chicken, cream of asparagus, cream of tomato, tomato, cream of chicken and herb is yummy, cream of anything... However I had to strain out any tiny bits. Check different stores that might offer you a larger selection of "cream" or liquid soups. I'm over an hour from Kroger and yet made a special trip post op because they offered such a large selection of liquid soups in the organic section. Butternut squash soup. There are so many you shouldn't get board . wonTon soup less the wonton hahah. You get the picture

    Odd food question.

I noted that you said fat free, as a label reader I learned long ago that most of the time "fat free" will also have higher sugar. Could you be sensitive to sugar? I know someone who has the sleeve and post op became very sugar sensitive.

    Pureed food recipes needed!

I'm at 9 wks and just now able to have any meat which includes tuna. That being said I'm still not allowed to have any raw veggies (onions, pickles...ECt). So your lucky! Look up the ricotta bake it's amazing! Roast veggies in the oven and blend to make your own purée. I'm still jelous! I 9 days I was simply on full liquid. I even had to strain cream of chicken Soup haha. Glad your doing well.
  20. I worked Monday(11-3) a full 10 hours then surgery on Tuesday(11-4) up and walking that day up and down the halls by Thursday the6th I walked a mile in the halls and was discharged. Didn't use the pain meds and was driving Friday. Back to work on Monday 11-10. I had no pains and have been lucky to have no issues other than nausea. I'm down 35lbs in 9wks. I'm happy with the entire process even though I still deal with nausea and there are things I can't stomach ... I consider myself blessed!
