11 months post op - WOW!

I still rode and went to shows when I was heavy. When I lost weight I had to get all new show clothes! You will soon be there too. Honestly I credit most of my success (not counting the surgery!) to a positive mind set. I know what I should eat and usually don't even want to eat anything that got me to my previous size. Good luck everyone on this journey.

    Cold all the time

ALWAYS cold! Good thing I live in the desert...........And I never go anywhere that I do not take a sweater. At home on the couch watching TV - either have socks and a sweater on or wrapped up in a blanket. But then would rather trade the 80+ pounds I have taken off for the sweater!

    Short Sleevers?

I still have a tummy, but doesn't "fold over" just a bulge - looks like I'm expecting in about the 4 month range!! My upper arms and thighs are doing that "crepeing/sagging" thing. But since I am almost 60 so don't think it will go away unless I go the plastics route and not doing that as it would be self pay. And honestly doesn't really bother me that much.

Share your rants about the fashion industry!

Absolutely hate the pants with 2 inch zipper............... I want my pants to go to my waist not inches above my crouch. But then I'm almost 60 so maybe too old fashioned!

    Can't eat

I had trouble with ground beef, salmon and chicken. No trouble with steak, tuna or turkey. I think my new tummy didn't like anything with a higher fat content. Maybe try some very lean meats.

    Short Sleevers?

I am 5'2" - at my heaviest I was 210 (size 18/20)- had surgery on June 16, 2014 my weight was 196. I was about 175 in August and 150 in November. Now almost a year out I'm down to 128 (size5/6) - my goal is 125 so I'm almost there! My only regret is the thinning hair...........but loving the short cut now that it is summertime.

11 months post op - WOW!

Thanks! Sooo close to my goal...........but if my body is happy at this weight - I will be ok with that! I will be 60 this year and wish I would have done the surgery years ago.
  9. I haven't posted much but had my daughter take pics and WOW is all I can say! At my top weight I was 210.....at 5'2" that is a lot. I got down to 196 on surgery day - 6/16/14. I had a pretty rough 6 weeks right after surgery but once I got on the proper medication the journey got pretty easy. Now 11 months post op and down to 129 it has been an awesome adventure. So pleased I had the sleeve done. I also show horses (and have for years), after I had lost about 75 pounds I was at a show, the judge was someone I showed with, she didn't recognize me and asked my trainer who that was riding my horse! Too funny. Thanks for letting me share!

  11. I voted yes. Came through surgery great but once home got the dry heaves.....................those lasted for about 6 weeks. Got so dehydrated I went to Urgent Care got an IV and was put on Zofran. After that everything went pretty smooth. I am about 10 months out and have lost about 80 pounds. So very pleased with my surgery and would do it again in a flash!
  12. I do know the areas are not close inside the body! But was just concerned since I do have a small scar in my belly button. Since I am self pay I didn't want to go through all the time and expense if it was going to be an issue.
  13. Awesome! Thanks so much.
  14. My offer still stands - if your date and Doctor are the same as mine.
  15. In doing more reading on gastric sleeve surgery I have come across some posts regarding not being able to have the surgery if there is too much scarring. That said I had a tubal ligation in 1986 and wondering if anybody has had gastric sleeve surgery that had a tubal ligation? I did call the Doctor's office and they said if it was just a small scar probably wouldn't be a problem. Just trying to get actual cases. Thanks!
