if you use Bariatric Advantage....they have an app that sounds something like compliant....I'm going to start on it right before I start the pre-op.

@ loveskinnyme, thanks for posting about the quit smoking app....I quit April 8 last year.......so according to the app I've saved $1676.04....now that is motivating. I start liquids June 10...I'm guessing I'm going to get the headache about 3 days in, since I have every other time I've gone no carbs....it's encouraging to know it gets better and it's doable. I sort of feel like my life depends on me doing what I'm suppose to....now if that doesn't motivate...nothing will.

Intragram is a cool idea...I will look for you. I'm 19 days out. I saw something cool on some nerdy science show, where a guy who had surgery....can't remember if they said which of the procedures, but he took a selfie in the same spot everyday for a year, then put it into a video, like a time lapse video.....it was pretty remarkable to watch the transformation.

I have one....I love it....not getting all my steps in yet...hoping once some pounds are gone I will have more energy, I'm still preop.

Single digit clothes size sounds amazing, even though my number one reason is health.... I don't really mind looking better.

I had my EGD today. I wrote a little blog about it if you are interested. http://kimwls.blogspot.com/ .....I'm actually blogging the whole experience, but since I'm still pre-op....there is not much yet. I'm on June 17 for surgery, and June 10 for liquid pre-op.......it is very interesting hearing about all the different preps and protocols. I will also have to do anti clotting injections for 2 weeks post op....they said they just recently (about a year ago) started that and have not had a single patient get a blood clot since.

I've heard the losing your hair is attributed to not getting enough Protein.

I'm about a week behind y'all, steak and Lobster sounds like a great last meal!

I was wondering about this too, logically protein supplements and all supplements should at least be covered post op because they are needed medically....but when it comes to Insurance....and recent health care changes....what does logic have to do with it/

the liquid pre-op is any kind of low fat, no sugar, low carb liquids.....designed to shrink your liver as I understand it. I will still be at work when I start it....I work in public education....then I have a quick trip to NC to deliver #1 grandson to his dad for the summer.

this procedure was done about 10 years ago, in one of my appointments they said bowel obstruction was a slightly less than 1% risk of all abdominal surgeries.....that is more than relatively safe in my book. But it is still the reason for the negativity...I'll be armed with facts....I have a higher chance of dying from heart disease or complications of diabetes.....that is a true fact!

I've told my family and they are all super supportive, but have not told my co-workers who I am actually very close to. They have talked very negatively about the procedure, they know someone who had the procedure and got got a bowel obstruction and almost died....so that is where they are coming from.....all 6 of us are overweight....some more than others...we've done diets together and gone off diets together....not sure if it's support or co-dependence....lol. It's to the point that my health continues to get worse and I'm not going to be around to enjoy retirement in 3 years if something doesn't change....I will be telling them in the next few weeks....but I'm nervous about the reaction.

My surgery is June 17, 2014. I start my liquid pre-op diet June 10. Today I organized my pants in my closet by size...I have size 18 (which are super tight but I refuse to go up) down to size 12....so I'm pretty good on clothes for a while. I also cleaned out part of a pantry shelf for my protein powders and such.

@ Music1618...yes Dr. Thompson had us all cracking up at the part 2 consultation...funny but a great way of emphasizing some important points. @ BariatricCeliac...oooh...Good Luck...that is coming up pretty quick....are you ready? Jun 17 seems so far off in some ways.....but as I'm reading and researching....it seems about right. I'm on a teacher schedule, so Jun 17 is the day I picked. I have only shared with one of my team mates because I know she can keep a secret....some of my team-mates have such a negative opinion of WLS because they know one person who got a bowel obstruction 10 years ago....so I'm just not ready to share with them...my family is totally supportive and that is what matters most.

That is good to know for when I get to eat real food again, post op.

@@music1618 I'm at Barker Bariatric, and Dr. Hodges will be doing my surgery.

Wow...this is exciting....I'm close to 230 (227) my surgery is in June....I wanted to wait until school was out, so I would not take time off work and just to have the summer to get used to the new life style. It would be very exciting to start the new school year at 180....I hope I do as great as you....are you exercising as well?

I'm 58, scheduled for surgery on June 17. Insurance approved with first request...I'm guessing they think they will save money in the long run due to weight induced health problems.....either that or I have really good insurance. Just found this site on a google search.
