Hi everyone. I had my first and only fill to date about 5 weeks ago. It was 4cc in a VG band. I have had restriction since then (not enough, but some)and then this last week I am feeling much tighter. I go for a fill tommorrow and I wanted my doctor to go pretty aggressive with it , but now I don't know. It is hard for me to go to his office to get my fills because he is three hours away on a good day. Has anyone else had a fill 'kick in' after so long? My weight loss has been slow but I am losing and I don't have any PBs during or after I eat. Any advice? Thanks.

Thank you so much Betty, that really eases my worries.

Paula, Thanks for the advice, it had been five weeks since my last visit so I went ahead and went in today and he only added 1cc, so now I have 5 total. He could only pull out 2cc of the 4cc that I already have and he said that was odd, but that it is possible with the VG band. Have you ever heard this? What about the color of the Fluid they are removing? Mine was still clear but had a straw colored tint to it, is it just from the little bit of bleeding from the needle? Thanks!

any experience with docs in/around AR(TX, KS, MO, or TN)

Archermom, It took UHC about 2 1/2 weeks to approve me. All they needed was a letter of medical need from the doctor's office. I never had to meet with a dietician or have a psyc. evaluation. Hope this helps. -Debra -

Whatever you do...do not use MWIBS in Lenexa, Kansas. You are more that welcome to PM me for more info on that one. It is a long, nasty story. One of the surgeons, that left that practice and has established his own, did my surgery and is now doing my follow up care. His name is Dr. Jesse Lopez in Overland Park, Kansas. He is 'in-network' for United Healthcare. I have United Healthcare and they approved me first go around. From what I have seen and heard from others, they tend to be one of the better ones to work with. -
I also have a Sony, mine is a DSC-F717. It is a great camera (bigger than a pocket size though), I do however have to be quick with the trigger to get an action shot. My camera will allow me to 'be ready' though by only pressing the button about half-way (allowing the camera to focus) and then I push it the rest of the way when I am ready. The burst sequence that Jack mentioned works very well also. Mine also will record in movie mode, giving me yet another chance to cut and edit pictures out of the short films.

Excellent!!!!! Sherry, I am so happy for you!!!! Glad it is all working out. Talk to you soon. -Debra

That is so good to hear. I have my first fill this upcoming Tuesday and I am dreading it a little, but excited to get the restriction at the same time. Keep up the good work! -Debra -
I don't live in California anymore, but would love to have a friend to talk to over the phone. There is no one close to where I live that i have found on this board yet. If you're interested PM me. -Debra

Awww....the sun! One thing you might want to consider if you swim or snorkel...will your incisions be totally closed and healed? I would check with your surgeon to see if he will want you to avoid the Water because of the bacteria....I think most of them would. My incisions healed in two weeks, my mom's are still not healed three months later. Just something to think about. Lots of luck- Debra

It is the pars flacida technique. I researched the techniques before going into surgery, to make sure my surgeon was using the best one. That is the only reason I knew. Take care!

Congrats on your new band. Sounds like you are doing great! And so what if your whining a little, us moms don't get a chance to do that very often. Take care of yourself! -Debra -
Penni, I am so sorry for your news. You will be in my thoughts and prayers and I am wishing you the best. ((((hugs)))) -Debra

Carmen, Thank you so much for posting. My mom and I have both recently had WLS, she had RNY about three months ago and I was banded 11-7. My mom has lost over a hundred pounds, is looking great, is getting all the 'wows', giving me her 'fat' clothes hand-me-downs (because she was changing sizes every two weeks)...and I am thinking why the heck didn't I just go that route (especially in light of all the trouble people have had on this board lately....yep, I'm a worrier). Then I have to stop and remind myself that I have lost 27 lbs in under a month, and I made the choice for this surgery because I believed this was the best decision anyone facing this problem could make. What you wrote really encourages me to keep believing that I HAVE made a great decision and I am so proud of you. I have always been overweight to hide from all those things I did not want to face, congratulations for being courageous. I wish you continued success!

Hey Everyone! I was in a car accident 1.5 years ago, a kid ran a red light and hit me at 60 mph in my driver's side door (yep, I was driving).....well long (very long) story short, I met with a neurosurgeon yesterday and he plans on replacing 3 disks in my back, that are totally crushed, with artificial ones. He said that would totally fix all my back problems and I would be back to the way I was before the accident, after my 6-8 month recovery. I have to get down under 200lbs. before he can do it though, because the artificial disks are only rated for 200lbs. and under, so it will be awhile. I am really excited, because I cannot do anything since my accident...it all hurts and I have exhausted all my other resources. I am also scared that it is such a MAJOR surgery. Have any of you had this type of surgery done or know someone who has? -Debra

Very cool SuperDaddy! Oh, how I always wanted to be musically inclined.....never happened, haha. The fact that everyone has different talents is one of the reasons people are so wonderful to get to know. Best of luck with your band!....and ...well...your 'band'.....(couldn't resist).

Thank you Penni. I always thought it would be fun to make jewelry. Your creation is beautiful. Do you ever sale your jewelry? I forgot to mention on my last post that those are all studies, the one with the multiple hands are actually my husband's hand. Here is one more drawing study (the first attachment) and the rest are photographs I took, they are studies as well, except for the last one which is a landscape. -Debra

How fun, I would much rather shake 'it' in the privacy of my own home, then at a class somewhere. Thanks for the info. I am going to check into that. How big are the pads? I am 6' tall and have a long stride, and that concerns me. We just bought a great jogging stroller and it is not tall enough for me or my husband. -Deb -
Karen, Sorry to hear that, I have started to do the same exact thing since yesterday. It kills me to bend over to pick something up. I was feeling really good until then. I will let you know if I find out anything, best of luck to you. -Debra
