  1. I also had pain on my left side after surgery. It was sharp jabbing pain I was told that it was scar tissue pain from some previous surgeries. It did go away after a few days but was very painful.

    Just beginning........

First off let me say that this is not the best way to go but I, like you, was on the border line not knowing if my BMI was high enough. I did have diabetes but not quite bad enough to go on any medicine yet. But I wanted this so bad. I was 248 height 5'6" and was miserable. My hips hurt when I would tried to walk anywhere. When I went in the first time and talked to everyone at the Bariatric Clinic they were starting to sound like they were goin to turn me down. Finally when I talked to the RN I said " If you guys decide not to let me have the surgery I will eat myself up to where I need to be at for you to except me. If you send me home I can promise you I will be back next month and try again and I will keep eating until I make it." The nurse said oh no don't tell me that and I said " I am dead serious about this!!! Well they excepted me. So here I am 8 months later down 65 lbs. I am what they call a slow loser but I am still determined to lose another 33 lbs and will be happy at 150 at least for a while. For the last two months I have only lost 2 lbs but bound and determined to get to 150 some how. In case you haven't guessed I am Very stubborn. Ask my husband. lol. Good luck to you.

    9 Months Post-op, 60 Pounds Down

I want to thank you for posting this "slow loser" thing you have because I have it too. I was begining to think I was the only person this happened too. (Very unrealistic.) Anyway I am out 8 months and I have not lost or gained any weight since my 6 month check up. 185 all the time. Some days 185.2 then 185.6 or 185 something else! Very tired of seeing that number. I have tried sooooooooooo many different things to jump-start this and nothing helps. I refuse to stay at 185 for the rest of my life. It will not happen. Going to talk to a psychlogist next week to see what he says. So maybe he can see something I cant. But again thanks for posting.

    Slightly Frustrated

I too started out slowly and got very frustrated, but everyone is different and their bodies react different. It will happen for you and right now I am at a block too. I am 6 1/2 months post and I have been stuck at 185 down from 248, forever it seems. Hang in there and ask the surgeon any questions you might have. Last time i went in for my 6 month checkup I had a whole list and he actually stayed there until all were answered. I still sometimes compare and know I shouldnt, but still do. I even find some that has lost less then me. Good luck! Dont give up!!!!
  5. Hi everyone. This is only my second time posting. I wondered if anyone else has hit a major slow down on weight loss. I am 61/2 months post surgery and I am having a hard time moving on. I still weight what I weighed at my six month check up 185. I cant seem to move on. Has anyone else had this problem or maybe this is just typical?? I think I need a little motivation. Can anyone help me? PLEASE!

    weight loss slow down

I appreciate you getting back to me on this. I try to keep motivated but sometime you wonder if you will just be at this amount FOREVER, but now I know it can happen to anyone and I will keep truckin on. Some one also told me that you can start to slow down at about 6 months too. I have two sayings that I keep in front of me at my desk and they help too. First one... "The only thing standing between you and what you want is you and what you aren't will to do." Second one... Remember how far you have come, not just how far you have to go. You are not where you want to be, but neither are you where you used to be. I say them over and over again. Thanks for your help again.

Try using a supplement like Miralax. That is what I used and still do to this day.

    Hello everyone....

It sounds like you are doing great! Stick to it and you will meet your goal weight. I had my surgery in Sept 2014 and I have lost 64lbs so far at 185. Aiming for 145. You will have ups and downs through this. Try to stay positive when you meet the plateaus, they do go away, but sometimes it seems that they last forever. Just do what your doctor tells you and I have no doubts that you will make it!!!!
