Sooo... When will I poop? :D
sleeved215 replied to jesswls's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
U should have gone by now. U should contact your surgeon and he could write u a script for colace stool softener. I'm supposed to take them daily but since I been on regular foods I haven't needed to take them. 1 week post op I had the opposite problem, I suffered from severe diarrhea then the week following extreme constipation. It's just your body trying to adapt to your new diet. Drink plenty of water and in the mean time take something over the counter -
So my Philly sleevers, did u guys start a workout regimen yet? Tell me some of the things u all do to get a workout.

1 month surgiversary!

Hey u lost a lot more than I did considering I only lost 17lbs post op but again I'm ok with that.. Guess I'm a slow loser as well but as long as I continue to lose instead of gain I'm super ok with that. Good luck on your journey -
Today is my first day back to work since surgery on 4/29, actually since 4/27 which was my last day. I'm excited to get back in the swing of things but I'm nervous to be out in the real world with my new sleeve. Day 1 and I already know I won't be getting a lunch break but now I have to figure out how to get my protein/fluids in during my 9hr shift... Ugh this is so illegal lol
-
My concern isn't people noticing anything, I was very upfront with my entire staff about my process. I work at a plus size clothing store and all the women are struggling like myself with their weight so I got nothing but support. I usually get a break but usually not Sundays. I was nervous because I was afraid I wouldn't have enough time to sit down and eat and get my fluids. I didn't have an issue with foods but I am having an issue with fluids since starting back work. I only drank 16 ounces so far today, not including my 8 ounce protein shake

Welcome!!! We need to start our own support group lol.

I lost 12lbs pre op and 16lbs post op.. Been at a stall the last 2 weeks :-(

Best decision I made as well, just can't wait to start seeing some results

Don't let your nerves get to you. The recovery was so smooth at times I doubted if they completed the procedure lol. One minute I was put under the next minute I'm walkin up like wtf just happened and why my lips so crusty lol (thank god for Chapstick). Honestly for me there were no pain at all where the incisions were! Nothing!!!!! The only discomfort I felt was gas pains in my stomach and yes it was very uncomfortable. I did vomit a few times but I was told that was from the anesthesia. Once I got home and back in my element I was up and out as much as I could. I went walkin in the mall 2 days after being released because the more you walk the faster u remove the gas in stomach.

Nice meeting u guys as well... I know u guys are excited/nervous about the upcoming surgery.. I was sleeved 4/29 so almost 3wks post op! Done @pennsylvania hosp.

So since the surgery I haven't had the urge to snack, guess I got used to my new diet. However, yesterday at the market I somehow purchased a bag of sour cream and onion chips, my favorite pre op. I ate about 1 ounce, the suggested serving size and felt bad guilty afterwards.. Keep in mind my diet is extremely strict, I follow every doctors orders and I work out 6 days a week... But I still feel like I shouldn't have eaten the damn chips lol..

Didn't workout preop.

I recently started going to the gym on a daily basis this week and I must say I love it! I never worked out prior to surgery but all it took was me to get off my lazy butt and go! Once I was there I felt awkward at first, like everyone was staring at me but I put my earphones on and started off slow by walkin on the treadmill and to my surprise everyone there was so supportive! I met some work out buddies and ppl just want u to succed. Just start off slow by taking a walk around the block at your own pace!!! -
So I'm 2 1/2wks post op and as of 2 days ago my hunger found me again! I thought I lost that part of me for good but nope, I'm experiencing hunger. It's nothing like it used to be post op but my body definitely tells me when I need to eat, which I'm ok with but it caught me off guard. Now earlier in my post op journey I thought I was experiencing hunger but it was my body telling me I need water or gas pains that mimic hunger but this time around it's no mistaking.. Am I weird but I'm happy about it, makes me feel normal again. Hunger isn't the enemy as long as I'm not over eating and eating the wrong things I'm ok with it

WARNING: TMI.... This constipation aint no joke!
sleeved215 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So I understand that constipation is a side effect of wls but I wasn't prepared for this! I went from going 2-3 times a day (bad dieting) to not even remembering the last time I went lol. Well tonight was horrible! My stomach hurt so bad from not going I started to feel nauseous and had cramps in my back.. I took some stool softeners and to no avail. Eventually I broke down and gave myself a suppository and man the relief! lol.. Ok I'm sorry I put all my business out there and had a TMI moment but don't say I didn't warn you. For those who empathize, is there something magical out there I should know about to relieve that situation??? And how long does this last for? -
What I would suggest is go to a gym that have a lot of different options as far as classes, pool, etc and ask for a tour. During the tour speak with someone that's more informed in the fitness category and can explain to u the difference between weight training and cardio and what may work best for you as far as losing weight. Participate in as many classes as u can until u find something fun and you enjoy then it will no longer be a chore and stick to it. Most gyms are pretty reasonable but if finances an issue I know the YMCA have a financial aid program and there fee is based off your income and they have all of the above. Good luck and keep me posted!

I know it's amazing! I can post question/concerns/and celebrations without being judged because we all are going thru the same thing. I have plenty of support in my everyday life but not many I can relate to in terms of wls... -
I I really want to get in the pool super bad and get some laps in but my surgeon suggested I wait 6 weeks before submerging my wounds. Of course I will listen to the doc but I was also thinking about waterproof bandages. Have anyone ever used them and do they actually prevent wounds from getting wet? If so I will use those so that way I'm still listening to my doctor by not getting the wounds wet but able to do what I want to do at the same time.

Thank you so much. I been at a stall this past week and it's frustrating considering I'm only 2 weeks out. I would have never thought I would lose nothing my second week post op. That was motivation for me to get back into the gym and really focus harder on my fluids and protein intake so I can have a reasonable loss this upcoming week.
-
I never thought I would say this but I am excited to be in the gym! Who woulda thought that it's actually fun (at least in my opinion). I'm only 2 days into my gym experience (2wks postop) so of course I'm taking it easy. I go at my own pace and am looking forward to building up my stamina and maybe one day actually being able to run on the treadmill. Until that day come I'll continue to walk lol.. Hey something is better than nothing!
