I had surgury 09-18 my port is still very sore ( I cant bend over and have trouble getting out of bed) I have really bad shoulder pains especially when I have my full liiquids. My doctor said this shoulder problems only happen with some lapband patients and that it should subside. She said it is gas trying to escape but it has been 8 days! Has anyone else had these issues? When should I expect some relief? My two c-sections where easier than this surgury. Jennifer the heating pad is my best friend

Hi There When I Had My Surgury In Sept 07 It Took At Least A Month For The Shoulder Pain To Subside. This Is Actually Gas Pains From The Surgury. Once Your Body Becomes Custom To The Band You Sshould Be Ok. The Only Thing I Can Suggest Is To Keep A Hot Pad On Your Shoulder While This Pain Lasts. Usually I Would Have It Up To Two Hours At A Time And The Heat Pack Worked. Good Luck And Congrats On The Weight Loss

Hi I was banded on September 18th and just had my first fill this past Thursday, I was filled 5 cc and I am in pain just by drinking water. It has gotten a little better with warm fluids but I just tried to eat a piece of cheese and fell to the floor in pain. On Friday I tried to have lentil soup but landed up throwing it up because it was stuck. Will this pain go away? I was thinking about having some fluid taken out. My doctor did this through flouro so he maxed me which is what I asked for since it was so expensive. I need some advise is this feeling normal? Should I wait it out? Hi I had my surgury Sept 18, 2007. I have yet to have any fill at this time because my doctors office will not do them until 3 months after the surgery. At this point I can eat whatever I want I just have to have will power. I have lost to date 33 lbs with no fill but have not lost anything in the last 3 weeks. To me this is very frustrating because I am eating right and excercising. I have an appointment next week to schedule a fill which my doctor does in the hospital since he wants you to go to radiology once the fill is done (I guess he fills to the max). Will I now start feeling like I ate 3 steak dinners or will I only feel pain if I eat too much. When I had this surgery I was under the impression that after I eat I will feel as though I ate so much I want to throw up yet I have not felt that at all, I feel as though I am just being really good about my food choices. I really don't know what to expect after my fill. Jennifer

You allare so luckty to have already been filled. I had my surgery 09-18 and the doctor will not do fills until 3 months after. I have an appointment on Tuesday to see if I need one which I know I do because I can eat just about anything and I dont get full. I am making good choices but I want to start losing again since I have platoed for over a month. I want to see what it is like to have this band working to its potential. I had my surgury on 09-18 i have lost a total of 30 lbs but it has not been easy. I have found myself lately really hungry. My doctor said he does not want to do a fill until i meet my three months and he may still not want to do so. I think I really need a fill, today I had 1 whole grain pancake and egg beaters at IHOP and was not full. I was under the impression that I would feel as though I ate a MAc Truck after that but didnt. Will I ever feel full? I think right now it is just will power. Does after having the fill really make you fill full?

I was banded on 09-18 and have lost 26 lbs. My doctor does not want to schedule a fill for me since he said I am still losing weight, yet for the past two weeks the scale has not moved. I am confused because I am still eating the same I feel though if I wanted to eat more I can because I am not feeling full. At this point I think it is just will power. He said I may be one of those people that dont need a fill and just loose the weight but I feel I am being real careful because I want this surgury to be a success. When will he just do the fill this is frustrating and I think I should have lost more weight. Jennifer

Hang in there it will get better. I was banded 09-18 and just finished my two weeks of full liquids. After the first week you will get used to it. When you get those hunger pains anything Protein will take them away I suggest a Protein shake. I drink designer whey with skim plus which is about 24 grams of protein for the cup. Also if you buy campbells low fat cream soup ie: mushroom, broccoli cheese and celery made with skim plus this also is a good meal. Also try Jello sugar free fat free puddings in the box and make them with skim plus milk they come in choc, pistacchio and vanilla and they are very good. All of these are good sources of protein and will fill you up. I have also found that by adding crystal lights lighlty lemon flavor to my Water it tastes great. I am now finished with my 2 weeks of full liquids and can now go to the mushy stage but I find myself still eating like the full liquid diet stage so stick it out and dont touch the sandwich it will be worth it in the end. Hi All Just wanted to let you know it has been 9 days since my surgury and there is still no relief with this shoulder pain. I have tried milk of magnesia, I sleep with a heating pad on my shoulder, pain killers and walking. I am going nuts it looks like I will have to delay going back to work a little longer. Please tell me this was all woth it because the way I have been feeling I am thinking maybe I should have not done the surgury. i am going to try the milk of magnesia at this point anything would help. I went back to work yesterday only to have to leave because I could not take the pain. I am not sure when I will be able to go back. I hope this is not a nerve that was hit during surgury. It only comes evrytime I have my full liquids not water. WEIRD

meg I had my surgury 09-18 and I cannot start mushy foods until 10-3. I need to be on full liquids until then. As I have read it looks like some doctors have different opinions on what you should eat I would go by the diet your doctor put you on. Jennifer

Michelle I had my surgury on the 18th and I am still feeling very uncomfortable. I have been just trying to burp alot and drinking my fluids slowly. I am taking 1 percicet and 1 tylenol every 4 house which seem to help. Everyone has been telling me it will get better and it has. I can now watch my small children here by myself. I find that if you keep moving around this will help loosen up the gas pain.
