Hi,

I'm lass. I'm ten years out of my gastric bypass. I just found out about BariatricPal at a local bariatric support group and thought I would look it up. Let' see...what can I tell you about myself. I've always been a big girl and was teased mercilessly through school. So, by the time I was 30 years old and able to have the bypass after two years of fighting with the insurance company I was more than ready.

With heart disease and diabetes on both sides of my family, plus weighing in at 365 lbs, I was headed down a bad road. My goal was to weigh 222 lbs because that was what I remembered weighing when I joined TOPS at 13 years old. I had never remembered weighing lighter than 200. My surgeon thought that was reasonable and that I could reach it.

Two years later when I married my best friend, I was 200 lbs and beautiful. But within the first year of our marriage Cadan started having seizures. He had been in a car accident and had a closed head injury, though we didn't know that he would be so adversely affected. Suddenly I was without my best friend and biggest support. I stress ate. I will admit.

Over the next seven years I ballooned back up to 255 lbs. Then Cadan and I joined TOPS again last year so that we would have a weekly weigh in and accountability. Since then I have lost back down to 215 lb and Cadan has lost over 50 lbs himself. *smiles* I hopefully will be back down to 200 for our 8 yr anniversary in June.

However, there have been a few challenges since surgery. Iron and B-12 anemia, gluten intolerance, migraines, with some surgeries that have kept me from exercising properly but we keep plugging along. The newest problem is osteoporisis. Which I am trying to get all figured out with my nutritionist and primary.

The more support I can give and get the better!
