Sleeved on 5/14 down 19 lbs so far. I got some premier protein shakes from costco (SAMs has them too). They have 30 grams of protein in them and come in vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. Pretty easy to drink a couple a day and get 60 easy grams of protein in. Can't start food until the 29th although I have nibbled on a couple of things. "This too shall pass"

Tomorrow will be 1 week post op. VSG on the 14th. I'm still not doing great. Physically my body feels fine, but I am unable to get my protein in and enough fluids even though I was advanced to full liquids. I am weak and lightheaded. I'm unable to so my required walking as well, had to rest after walking to the mailbox. I am scheduled to return to work tomorrow but don't know how I'm going to manage. Feel like I'm failing already even though I am 19 lbs down.

I just ate some puréed spaghetti sauce with deer meat. About an oz. No noodles. Feels fine so far.

I'm having a very difficult time staying hydrated and getting all the protein in. I feel like I am ready to move on to puréed to but I'm scared of doing something that will be harmful. I am supposed to do full liquids until the 29th. Anyone move to puréed on the second week with no harmful effects?

Surgery was on Wednesday. It is also very hard for me to get water down, feels like I'm swallowing a lump. The protein shakes are fairly easy. I split them in 2 oz servings. I've been doing well on light Greek yogurt. It seems to go down well. Didn't think something as simple as drinking would be so hard.

I am two days post op. I'm having a very hard time drinking anything. It hurts all the way down to my stomach. I froze some isopure into Popsicles so I will see how that works put.

Home now from the hospital. Everything went fine. The doctor said my liver looked perfect. I walked the unit every couple hours and haven't had any gas pains. Starting these vitamins are hard. There are so many and trying to sip sip sip is a struggle. I can honestly say I have absolutely no hunger as of now.

Surgery was successful. Only have some mild incisional pain. The drinking post op is hard. I fell like I could drink a gallon of iced water because my mouth is so dry but they will only let me have 30 ml and hour. Overall successful so far!

Surgery is scheduled for 10 am tomorrow. I'll update everyone as soon as I'm able.

Overeating before surgery

I also have 3 days to go of my 2 week liquid preop. I haven't cheated either. Every time I am hungry I just grab a bottle of water. During the first week I had a very hard time and was angry. Angry that I let myself get this way and need this surgery. I am 10 lbs down and hope that I will lose a few more before Wednesday. Been thinking about cheating but I'm too scared to mess something up. -
Thanks! It had gotten so much easier. Anytime I have hunger pains I just grab a bottle of water and it goes away! 4 days to go.

Joybell, you are such a pretty young woman, you will be so happy when its done, I just wish I could have done this 30 years ago, it wouldn't have been mostly for health then. How are you doing with your liquid diet, have you tried making popsicles with your clear liquids, the Isopure clear is high in Protein and makes pretty good popsicles. I'll be thinking of you on your day just before mine. Thanks! It had gotten so much easier. Anytime I have hunger pains I just grab a bottle of Water and it goes away! 4 days to go.

Congratulations! You look great!!! -
Today is the last day of my full liquid diet and I start 1 week of clear liquids prior to surgery on the 14th. I go for all of my preop testing tomorrow morning so I'm excited to be getting close. I lost 8.8 lbs since last Wednesday by gained a couple back today so that was extremely discouraging. But I'm sure ups and downs are going to happen!

My surgery is May 14th. My preop diet started on Wednesday and it is full liquids for 1 week then clear liquids for a week. I have lost 9 lbs so far. I had to go grocery shopping for my family today and had been doing well but broke down to tears in the store. I felt so hungry. I keep reminding myself that it is all worth it, but I just want to eat. I already feel like a failure. Anyone else out there feeling weak?
