Had a tummy tuck today
scrappy_friend replied to scrappy_friend's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I was able to shower I made a necklace out of ribbon and hung the drain on that and took my shower. I wasn't allowed to shower for about the first 5 days after surgery. -

finally they took out the last drain after 27 days. The first one didn't hurt at all to come out this one did a little but not terrible. I still have to wear the compression garment since I am still swelled but I can deal with that so far. -
I made a few meals and had them frozen so all they had to do was heat them up that sure helped. The first night I was home my hubby decided to cook so he went to the store and bought a family salisbury steak dinner. I told him it was worse than hospital food. Even my daughter wasn't impressed. No wonder I lost so much weight that first week home. Tell your hubby you are buying one of the bells to push too so when you need something he can come running.

Laura I have bald spots there too but never really thought it was from the the rubbing but I guess that is probably why. Wonder if it will now grow back? Do you have your suitcase packed yet? After Thursday and you are feeling like crap you will be saying to yourself "and I paid money and chose to do this to myself" Do you have kids at home? I had a 20 year old son that is so lazy and didn't help at all and then a 10 year old daughter that not sure I could have made it without her.

I'd love to talk with you laura, I am finally feeling human again. I still have one drain in and the horrible binder but I am really hoping to have them gone on Tuesday.
-
Laura, do you have to drink the gaggy protein drinks before and after surgery? My dr says the help with healing. I hate them so bad.
-
Laura I know all about surgery being the only thing on your mind. It's like I was obsessed about it and I still think about all I have been through. I am now 3 weeks out and starting to feel good now. I have been busy almost all day the past 2 days and I am thankful for that. Sitting around was driving me nuts. I wish I had a housekeeper my hubby and 10 year old doesn't do a very good job.

Im not sure about the cost insurance covered most of surgery I paid almost $4000 extra for them doing the top part. I thought it was too much but didnt want them just doing half of a job. Not sure if I'll post pictures or not.

I wore a skirt to the hospital the day of surgery and thought I would just wear the same thing home. It buttoned and zipped up the front, and was a little big. I tried to put it on to come home and it would not close. So I think the moo moo sounds great. Best of luck to you I'll be reading your posts to see how you do.

Lynn, I had stitches inside and glue outside. It doesn't look like my scar will be bad at all. I had another dr appt yesterday and I was really swelled so he put the extra foam under my binder again and since I am still draining so much he wouldn't take out the drain yet either. I went in hoping to have both the binder and drain removed. I was pretty disappointed. He did say I am healing very nice. I go back in one more week.

Way to go Eve and Lynn. Lynn July 29 isn't very far off. I bet you are so excited. What all are you going to get done? How long are you going to take off work? I will be 3 weeks out tomorrow I feel pretty good but I thought I would feel better than I do. I have a dr appt today and I hope he takes out this last drain I hate that so bad and now its sore where it goes into my body.
-
Lynn hope all goes well. What all do you plan on getting done? I still think I would push for insurance to pay for the panectiomy at least.

Penny, I like curves and I do think it helps. I started in November and I have lost every month since I started and it seems like when I started I lost weight faster. I do the 30 minutes there so only what they prescribe. I think the workout is too easy. I guess I could push myself to do harder. I also walk most days outside if the weather is nice or at the mall in the mornings. I walk between 30-60 minutes. I am more tired from walking than I am from curves. Right now I am not doing any exercise but am really looking forward to starting again. I hope the doc will tell me I can start walking this week. I'm sure I'll be taking it slow for a week or 2.

Sue where did you get the spanx and how much did that cost. I don't think the doctor made that clear enough to me. At my last appointment he told me I would need the spanx and said I could buy them at kohls. I asked him what size he said small, I told him I don't feel small and he says well you are. So I bought med. The other night I figured this binder was stinky from wearing it for 2 weeks so I took a shower and put the binder in the washer. I figured I would put on the spanx thing I had. Well its like panties that pull up but has snaps at the crotch. I tried to put them on like panties and got them to my knees and well I was scared to pull them up they seemed so tight. Then I thought I would open up the crotch and put them on over my head. I put both my arms in and over my head then got stuck. I couldn't get them on or off. I finally did and threw the stupid things on the floor. So now I don't know what I need. Any help would be greatly appriciated from any of you tummy tuckers that know what is best. -
Lynn did you just ask about getting the pannectomy done? That is all my insurance would cover. I had to pay for the upper part of my belly.

He didn't tighten the muscles he said that if he did it would move where the port was located and he didn't want to move that. I'm not sure how much of a difference it would make to tighten them.

I'm now 2 weeks out and finally able to do things. I am now cooking again with some help from my 10 year old daughter. I still get pretty wiped out if I try to do too much. Swept and mopped kitchen and bathroom yesterday and that made me feel sore and I had to come lay in bed for a while to get my strenght back. The pain is just about compleatly gone, sometimes when I first get up it hurts. I didn't think the pain was all that bad from the beginning. Never thought I would look forward to exercising but I really do miss that and can't wait till I can start back to curves and walking. I still have one drain in and still wearing the compression garment I think he will get rid of them 2 things at my next appointment on Tuesday then I can wear some sort of spandx thing. -
Penny, I am about 2 hours away from Mckeesport, so not too far. I don't know if I ever had my Vitamin D checked or not but I do know the Fiber and Calcium chews I take has Vitamin D added to it, and probably in my Multivitamin too.
