April 16th role call - who's with me!

I never went to my 6 month follow up, I had only switched medical groups just to get the surgery and switched back immediately after I returned to work. My highest weight was 300, and my date of surgery I was down to 239. I was down to 224 on my own but as soon as my nutrition classes ended I went a little crazy saying good bye to food. As of this morning I weigh 170lbs. I can't believe I'm in the hundreds, I'm 30lbs away from my goal. I still haven't been able to get my Water down daily. And that makes it hard to exercise. I have a saggy belly, inner thighs, and the back of my arms. I know I need to focus on Protein, water, and exercise. My hair loss does seem to be slowing a bit, but I've stopped daily washing because that seemed to make it worse. I haven't kept a strict diet, I know that's something I definitely need to work on. Recently we went to a pumpkin patch and my sister took a pic of me. When I saw it, I didn't recognize my body. I'm 32 years old and have been chubby my whole life, still am lol. But to look at a picture and think wow I don't look fat, I look like a "normal" person. I work at a company of over 5000 employees and every day I still get employees I've never spoken to coming up and saying how great I look. I wasn't open about my weight loss surgery journal with those outside my small circle. Work gossip is so ridiculous where I work I felt it was no ones business. But having lost 80lbs from just hard work in the past I always share those tips and what I used to do to be successful. I still look in the mirror and see my huge stomach and what little things my breasts have turned into and don't really see what I want, but I'm so happy I'm where I'm at right now. I didn't want to be the "fat" mom when my daughter started school. I'm a single mom and she's not even 2, but I see from picking my nephew up from pre-k, all the moms are young and thin. Being a kid is hard enough these days. When I was young and chunky I was lucky and never had any issues. Except a nasty anonymous note in my English book one day, we kept them in the classroom. And back then it didn't even bother me. I feel like I'm just rambling at this point, but I am sad I neglected this decision for so long. I hope at a year out I can look into a mommy makeover and be personally happy with my body. I know I need to start exercising and treating it better as well. When I went to find the thread it started me at the beginning, everyone getting their surgeries and being so excited. The pain of recovery. I think it's true, we slowly slip away from the message boards because it becomes a part of life we just slipped into. I still weigh myself every Thursday. There are stalls and amazing losses and I don't know how they happen. But this journey has been a great one. I know that some weeks of check ins I avoided out of embarrassment for not doing as well as others but it's our own individual journey and we have to realize we can get there if we just keep trying. Wishing everyone a healthy journey.

April 16th role call - who's with me!

Melodica-- that's awesome. I hadn't been below 220 since I was 18. I felt like I would never get to onederland. I've been eating bad myself and using the restriction as my tool. I'm officially down 115lbs from my heaviest weight. 54 from surgery. I've had the worst month and a half of my life emotional wise with family issues. I had been tracking my weight loss in the notes on my phone and my phone broke. I thought I backed it up and it wasn't : ( Almost 5 months of my weekly progress and it's gone. My hair loss is insane. I started washing mine 2-3 times a week. My carpet is covered in my hair. I have to vacuum constantly. I've been taking Biotin and was just recommended to take coq10 and zinc from a friend that had gastric bypass. So far I haven't notice any difference. I still have issues getting enough liquids in. I feel like I've been dehydrated for 5 months. I work at a casino of about 5000 employees, it's crazy how many people from other departments that I have never talked to or remembered seeing have come up to me to tell me how great I look and ask what I'm doing. I feel bad lying but people are so nosey that I just tell them what worked for me pre surgery. I lost 80lbs on my own before the surgery. I'm down to a size 16 but I haven't bought any clothes. I was lucky a coworkers daughter was going to toss some clothes so I got a pair or shorts and jeans to get by. I need to start exercising but with my emotional issues it's been hard to even get to work. But even though I'm down 115lbs I still see the same body in the mirror. My breasts have shrunk and that's the only thing I see, lol. I wish that was one thing that would have stayed. I just keep saying once I get to where I want to be then I'll look into some augmentation.

I just started taking biotin a few weeks ago and it doesn't seem to be helping yet : ( if I don't vacuum my hair is everywhere! It's all over my clothes and car!

I was terrified to step on the scale and I had gained over my 3 ounces and would see a 2 at the beginning of my weight again. 6) your biggest struggle this week: I fainted twice at magic mountain! I think due to dehydration and heat. And that was BEFORE I even stepped on a ride. Needless to say it wasn't the best day. Still trying to get enough Water and Protein. I know I still eat way too many carbs.

I never thought this day would come. My birthday is tomorrow and that was my goal, to be under 200. I can't believe I made it : ) I'm headed to magic mountain today I'm hoping I can fit on all the rides! At 18 years old I weighed 220. I can't believe I've been so heavy my whole adult life. 6) your biggest struggle this week: still trying to get enough Water and Protein. I know I eat way too many carbs. I need to find meals that don't gross me out. Even with birthday cake and too many choc covered berries I made progress. But I've been super active at work this week. 3-4 miles of walking a night. I'm sure that helps.

I went on vacation to orlando almost 2 weeks ago. Fulfilled my dream of swimming with manatees! And came back losing 5 ounces after eating tons of junk. On my old vacations I would gain 10lbs in a week bc I would use "vacation mode" as an excuse. 6) your biggest struggle this week: still trying to get enough Water and Protein. I know I eat way too many carbs. I need to find meals that don't gross me out.

April 16th role call - who's with me!

I usually only hop on the scale thursdays for my weekly update, but I felt extra huge and so I got on the scale and was down 3lbs. Such a happy sight. I'm 5.7lbs away from onederland! That will be a magical day! My bf and I are going to magic mountain next week for my birthday so I'm praying I don't have issues fitting into the rides. I haven't been there since high school. I was probably close to the same weight back then and back then even though I was big I didn't even think about not fitting. I was tramatized at universal studios years later one time when I almost didn't fit and have constant anxiety about fitting on rides. Where I work we have to park in a structure about half a block away. I always park in the back, the first spot I see when I come in. Also for every break we have to up and down 2 flights of stairs there and back and then 2 flights to leave the building and another 2 flights at the structure. I used to park on the 3rd level because I told myself if I parked on 3 I could take the elevator. Lol the dumb excuses I would make. Now it's always level 2 and the stairs. But even though I'm lighter (only 33.7 since surgery) my legs feel weak and I'm exhausted at the top of the stairs. I really need to start getting my muscle tone back.

April 16th role call - who's with me!

At the end of last month I flew to orlando and I was able to fly in the middle seat (I got my tickets too late) and I had no issues with the seat belt buckling and I could lay the tray table completely down without it hitting my stomach! I've been in a stall for a month : ( and my legs have been retaining water. I used to take water pills but the dr says I'm not allowed. I actually lost 5 ounces on the vacation. On a usual vacation I gain 10lbs! But once I came back I gained a pound and a half! I don't know what's going on with my body.

My highest pant size was a 26 after I had my daughter. 6) your biggest struggle this week: I still can't get in enough Water or Protein. I started work almost 2 weeks ago and gained 3lbs. So upset that I've gained.
  11. I just got a new suit and my inner thighs are so gross ????. I love the weight loss but hate the way my legs look! I have a cover up but when you're at the beach you're not waist deep when the waves aren't there lol

    6 weeks out - stalled for last 3 :(

I've been having major issues getting enough protein and water. I feel like I've been dehydrated for almost 8 weeks. I try to drink but I have such a hard time getting it down. Same with protein, my tastes have changed and getting protein down has been a nightmare. I went back to work and have been more active than I was recovering and have done nothing but gain weight. My job is very active and I have been light headed and felt weak. My breaks are short so I try to eat and then I feel sick because I'm rushing. The recovery was harder than I anticipated. I wish I could see what people were eating that gave them all their protein, I need ideas.

April 16th role call - who's with me!

I had the surgery April 17th. I haven't been able to get all my fluids or protein down for the day. I feel weak and sometimes I get so sick from eating. I'm back at work and it's been a nightmare to go back from a break or lunch feeling sick because of what I ate. I've been dehydrated for over 7 weeks now. I also miss not being able to guzzle water. I was a huge water drinker before surgery. I never had a nut and my surgeon has barely given me any information. I took the required nutrition classes before surgery and they were a joke. Things I already knew and had nothing to do with life post surgery. From doing my own research I know I haven't been the best rule follower. I exercised one day and realized even though I've lost 32lbs and am the lowest weight I've been since high school, I'm out of shape. The 30 min workout used to be fun and I barely made it through. I used to workout an hour a day 6 days a week and that was being heavy. So exercising and being back at work I gained 3lbs! I don't even know how that's possible. I wish I could find protein I enjoyed and that I didn't feel like a slug. I don't necessarily regret the surgery because I hope with time it will get easier. But I'm glad to know other people have the same issues. I see all the people back to work after 3 days and dropping 100lbs in 6 months and never having a stall, and having tons of energy. I felt like why am I the only one having these issues? I'm a single parent to an 18 month daughter so I'm busy at home and busy at work. I don't get a break so not having enough water and protein is just killing me.

    Alcohol and the Social Drinker

My friend is a bartender and I went out to visit her bar. My drink was always rum and coke. So I told her no carbonation and she ended up giving me a shot of honey whiskey with lots of ice so it looked like I had a mini drink. I sipped it and was fine. I felt a slight buzz that didn't last long and I've gone wine tasting and didn't really have any issues. From my friends who have had weight loss surgery, they say it hits you fast but the buzz disappears quickly. That's the downside. But even though you feel sober, you still have the alcohol in your blood so you have to be careful not to continue to drink to chase the buzz because you could black out or get alcohol poisoning.

    Does anyone eat pizza?

My sister got a stuffed crust from Pizza Hut, I didn't eat the pizza part just the crust. I could almost finish the crust and I was way too full. Before I could have easily had 3 pieces. Now with the sleeve it's an amazing difference when I see how much I eat now and how much I used to pile in my stomach. So grateful for this tool, now I just need to focus on staying away from the carbs and exercising. I'm still struggling drinking enough and get dehydrated way too much.

    serious problem!

I have been on the Nuva ring for a year and used it in a way that I didn't have a cycle. The first day after surgery I started spotting, then eventually I bled enough for tampons. It lasted around 2 weeks. But I'm 4 weeks out and no more issues so I'm hoping that was a fluke bc of the surgery shock to my body.

    Cheated ugh

I cheated on my 10 day pre op diet. I was getting severe migraines. I cheated 3 of the days. I wouldn't recommend it, but it happens. I still had a successful surgery and my surgeon never mentioned my liver size.

    Surgery with a Baby

I was sleeved April 17th and my daughter is 23lbs and 18 months. My surgeon told me I was to lift nothing over 10lbs for 6 weeks. The first 3 days home (I'm a single parent) my dad kept her the first night I got home and my sister the next night and I had my mom stay with me for a week. For the first 3 days there was no way I could have taken care of her. My dad and sister live close by so they would help with getting her up and down for bed. I'm 4 weeks out now so I do lift her into her crib for bed time and up in the mornings. I'm lucky she can climb into her carseat and onto the couch. The first 10 days I had a drain and that was also a nightmare bc she would see it and want to pull it and one time she fell asleep on my side while I was on the couch. I got up to answer the door not realizing she was on my drain and I held tight to the tube so it wouldn't be pulled out but the the bulb popped off!! Thank goodness the fluids were contained but that was a nightmare. With help you'll be fine. Good luck on your surgery : )

    Overeating before surgery

I kept reading horror stories about people being opened up and then closed because of enlarged livers. I was so nervous because I couldn't imagine the nightmare of that happening. To be honest my surgeon never even mentioned my liver. I was 239 the day of surgery. I was down to 228 on my own but had the gain from indulging. I even had dreams about food my first few nights home from the hospital. I didn't think I was that crazy about food : ( My main issue post op is getting enough water, it's so hard for me to drink. I miss guzzling down a nice big glass of water easily! And breaking the habit of drinking while eating has been so hard! Good luck and don't stress to much. It's a hard journey for everyone but you will get there

    ABORT SURGERY!

Before pregnancy I started carb cycling and lost 35lbs without even exercising. Then went on vacation to Hawaii and surprise came back pregnant. At my 6 week check up my ob told me my liver was enlarged. Even being overweight before pregnancy I still did not have an enlarged Iiver. Everything that had worked pre pregnancy wouldn't take the weight off. Fatty livers go away with weight loss but they make it harder to lose weight. I started getting b12 shots and they had a special shot called lipo-b and that was supposed to help with fat around the liver. With the shots and watching my cals I dropped 80lbs on my own but still have 85 to go to goal weight. I'm 4 weeks post op sleeve and down 25.1 lbs. I had heard horror stories of being opened up and closed and was super nervous about that possibility. Good luck and I hope you find the right surgeon!

    Overeating before surgery

I did the same thing. As soon as my last nutrition class weigh in, I had about 10 days before my liquid diet. I ate what I wanted and I did gain weight but I was glad I got the cravings out of the way. I did cheat a little on my liquid diet because I got sever migraines and I still lost weight. I was on a liquid diet 9 days (I cheated probably 3 times) and I lost 7 lbs. I don't recommend it to anyone but I'm just sharing my story. The thing with surgery is you still have head hunger and cravings. It's those things that make the recovery a little more rough. But eventually you can eat bits of what you used to. Believe me there is no overeating after surgery!

    starting T25

I also had my surgery April 17th. Yesterday I was down 25.1 lbs since surgery. Last year I was doing him hop abs with Sean t. My fitness level want very good and my stomach is my huge trouble area. It got great reviews so I tried it. I loved the DVDs and the inches were coming off but I hurt my back so I had to stop. My surgeon still says I need to to wait til 8 weeks before starting the DVDs again. T25 is what I'm working towards. I need to start at least walking but it's so hot and I have a small daughter so sometimes there's creepers at the park so I avoid it.
