Going out this weekend to get my supplies for after surgery. Can we chew gum post-op?

Other then swallowing the gum, which I never do. Is there any other reason not to chew it?

I was told it causes gas so I waited until a week after.

My nutritionist and surgeon told me not to cus most of the time u tend to swallow air when your chewing gum which will cause air bubbles that hurt in ur stomach or gas.
