Protein Shot and Pre-mixed shakes.
HalloweenBaby24 replied to HalloweenBaby24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@sbeltermann I would get some unflavored protein and test that theory first before committing to it.. I tried the unflavored Unjury and not only does it not mix very well (Clumps up a lot) but it gave my drinks a weird taste even though it's "Unflavored". I guess it wouldn't be so bad in thing's like pudding or homemade protein pops. -

@happymama2014 I tried a few of the Unjury products and liked the taste better then the Muscle Milk, but I like the MM because it's convenient and can be found almost anywhere. I'll probably end up ordering more Unjury sometime soon though. As far as the shots, I was told by my NUT that they were fine in the early stages when your trying to get as much protein in as possible other then that I don't really know too much more about them and will ask for more information in my pre-op class on the 12th. "Syntrax Nectar" has a fruit punch powder that I've heard is pretty good, I might pick that up offline as well. -
Funny enough we use to live in Hackensack right next to the Garden State Plaza.

Anyone in or around Warren county NJ? I'm in Hackettstown looking for local pre or post op sleevers. My surgery is set for September 8th with Dr.Abkin.

Sounds like dumping syndrome. You can still get dumping with the sleeve. -

Having kids after Gastric Sleeve Surgery ?
HalloweenBaby24 replied to XForeverYoursX's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It even said: It reduces the "potential" for malnourished babies and mother's. which means there is always a risk that it could happen especially being closer to your surgery date (example: post-op 2-4 months)..But 18 months sounds more like a suggestion to me then a mandatory time line. -
Having kids after Gastric Sleeve Surgery ?
HalloweenBaby24 replied to XForeverYoursX's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Let me just comment on the woman who I knew, like I said she got pregnant soon after surgery and had spent the past 2 years pregnant basically and both pregnancies were textbook without any serious complications, both children are healthy and doing well. I think its a personal choice wheather or not you choose to get pregnant a year after surgery or two years, would I suggest getting pregnant before your one year out?..No, but some of us have less to lose then others and if by a year out you are at a healthy weight and your OB and physician give you the go ahead I don’t see a reason to wait any longer. "Pregnancy after weight-loss surgery isn't an issue. The only concern is [getting pregnant] in the period of rapid weight loss," says Philip Schauer, director of advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgery at the Cleveland Clinic's Bariatric and Metabolic Institute. "To protect women and their babies from potential malnutrition, doctors recommend that women not get pregnant until 18 months after surgery. A report in a November 2005 issue of theJournal of Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing explained that getting pregnant at least 18 months after surgery reduces the "potential for maternal and fetal malnutrition and small-for-gestational-age infants." By then, Schauer says, a woman should have reached a stable weight and be able to provide her baby with enough nutrition." -
Having kids after Gastric Sleeve Surgery ?
HalloweenBaby24 replied to XForeverYoursX's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I knew someone who got pregnant maybe 4months after having the sleeve, and then again maybe another 4 months after having that baby. She's 3 year's out now and claims to have lost 160 some odd lbs (187lbs being her lowest). I plan on having another child after the sleeve as well and it's a big reason for me getting it, But not until I've reached goal.. I'm not sure if they would consider it high risk just because of WLS but for me it will be considering my first daughter was born early due to complications and the second pregnancy was a miscarriage at 12 weeks. I have heard you have that they make you see a nutritionist through it though just to make sure you're getting the right nutrition for baby and you. -
What To Get For The Weeks After Surgery?
HalloweenBaby24 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, Many of you know my surgery has been approved for September 8th and I'm done with my pre-op footwork other then one 3hr class I have to attend August 12th (Not exactly sure what they are going to go over at the class) I've been given a booklet from my nutritionist that basically goes over my food intake for the next 8 weeks but only gives a handful of examples for each stage. I know I need to prep for the first 3 weeks but I guess I feel kind of overwhelmed, I don't want to go out and over prep and buy a bunch of stuff I won't use. I mean is it really necessary to buy a blender pre-soft foods or am I better off sticking to a Blender Bottle and pre-mixed shakes? If you guy's have any suggestions on what to buy and stock up on would be helpful -
What was your favorite thing to eat in the "pureed" stage?
HalloweenBaby24 replied to GingerSlim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm pre-surgery now, But we love the mashed cauliflower in my house. My 4 year old daughter can't tell the difference and just assumes it's mashed potatoes. Sometimes I put a little cheese and real bacon bits in it BAM!..Loaded mashed potatoes. -
Just found out
HalloweenBaby24 replied to Pelicanlady's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In the same boat. My husband and I are both young and over weight (always have been). Though he says he supports me in what I want to do he also has concerns about how we will interact with each other now that food is not involved, He agrees that he also needs to lose weight and wants to but I'm unsure if me getting surgery will help steer him in the right direction or watching my success might destroy us I'm not sure just yet. What I do know is that this is something I need to do for myself. -
Wanted: September Sleevers!

@@Kristina1218 I'm also in NJ What part are you from? I'll be sleeved on September 8th. -
I've heard of this issue many times, Most people go into their dr/nut and find out they are not getting in enough liquid and the black outs are essentially from being dehydrated.

My surgery is September 8th, So I'm not quite there yet but I've been finding a lot of inspiration via Pintrest! Not everything I pinned would be considered within the dietary guidelines for after surgery but mostly everything can be altered to meet them. http://www.pinterest.com/dawson1738/cream-soupspuree-foods/ -

Anyone else getting sleeved/ or been as Outpatient?!?
HalloweenBaby24 replied to leelee2728's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Jersrose43 It's different for everyone I guess, I was told I would only be kept over night if something came up that required me to stay in hospital. Otherwise I should only expect to be at the outpatient clinic for 4-5hrs that's including surgery time. -

HalloweenBaby24 replied to leelee2728's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am being sleeved as an out patient procedure in September. I'm a little nervous about it, But mainly because I only met my surgeon once and the next time I see him is the day of surgery. I know someone who's already went through it with my same surgeon and she seems to have survived and be doing well.
