  1. For the first time, about 100 days post-op, I got stuck. I felt like my head was going to explode. What a horrible feeling! I went on a Monday for my monthly check up. Not much weight loss, but I haven't been able to get much exercise in, due to working more hours, lack of sleep, all the culprits. So my surgeon gave me another cc. At my count, that would make me at 6 cc's total, in a 10 cc band. He told me if it felt too tight to call him asap. I had no issues the rest of the day, overnight at work, or the next morning. Then we stopped for pizza. The breadsticks got me! Darn the bread! I've not had any issues with ANY food, post-op. None at all. Let me tell you..... For those who have never been stuck, you don't want to have to go thru it! It's very scary when you can't even swallow your own saliva. And to force myself to vomit? OMG. Lesson learned! I'm swearing off breadsticks, and any other bread if it's just that. If there's sauce for dipping, I may (hesitantly) give it another go, but I'm not sure. I'm gonna give it another week and see how I do. If it happens again, I'm gonna call my surgeon to see if maybe he can take half a cc out. I *never EVER* want to feel that again..... It. Was. Awful. Sorry, I'm not trying to scare anyone, but reality is reality. Small bites, limit very dry/sticky foods, and chew chew chew!!!!!!!!!
  2. I think I may have to have some Fluid taken out. I'm gonna give it until over the weekend. Maybe I just need to teach myself to take smaller bites and chew longer. I thought I had it down! I was doing so good! I think if I can get used to doing that, I'll be ok. I don't want to get stuck or semi stuck (semi happened today) every day. Even thinking about it makes me feel yucky.
  3. I've been really good with sticking to 'drs orders' on fill day. I think because I haven't had much resistance, I got complacent. My husband had Lapband surgery 4 yrs ago, and he got stuck constantly. I think I've done pretty good so far, just over 100 days post-op, no issues! In my defense, I was starving (hadn't eaten solids since the day before) and I know I went too fast, didn't chew enough. But it was completely my fault. A day later I ate part of a sub, (with all that bread!) and had no problem. Small bites and LOTS of chewing!!! Thanx!

  6. I was banded in June of this year, and lately my hair seems to be falling out a lot more than the normal, every day hair loss. I had a handful of hair today after my shower, and it's never that much. Am I deficient somewhere? Should I bring it up to my surgeon? Are there other Vitamins I should be taking? I have lots of hair, and the thought of it falling out is scary!!!

    Eating after first fill

I also have the 10cc band. My husband has a 15, and he's comfortable filled with 6.5cc. I wouldn't be surprised if I go up to 5cc. I guess we'll see!

    Eating after first fill

I got my first fill last week (3cc's) and I don't feel much resistance. My surgeon said I may not, either, and we'll adjust it the next month. As for food, I was told to do a liquid diet for the first day after each fill.

Family/friends who say I've lost too much weight

I *hope* your family is doing it out of love and concern. Seems like they aren't very supportive. Maybe they WERE, but to say you've lost too much? That is YOUR DECISION and your SURGEON's DECISION. You sound like you are doing AMAZING!!! Let that, and that alone, keep you where you want to be headed. Negativity will only bounce you to a place you don't want to be. Keep your mind on your goal, and leave it at that. I'm sorry coin not trying to be rude. I hate it when other people try to act like they know what's best for you. You're a grown woman, your body is YOURS, and yours to do with what you please! I'm not trying to be harsh, but they should ALWAYS support you. Keep up the GREAT work!!!

    Fitbit or jawbone?

I currently wear a Jawbone Up24. I love it! The app is very easy to read and maneuver. I've had fitbit's in the past, and just wanted to try something new. I wore the clip on fitbit's and I was constantly dropping them. I found the last one in my dogs mouth lol. I've had three total. I never had any issues with them or the app, just decided to check the Jawbone out. (Well, one issue... The one time I clipped one to my bra, we were in my husbands truck, which is very bouncy. It read I'd climbed 43 flights of stairs that day! Obviously NOT!) I figured if I was starting a new life in having WLS, I wanted to try something new, therefore went with a Jawbone Up24. It's very comfortable, and kind of adjusts to your wrist without being too snug. I wear a navy blue one, and it looks just like a regular bracelet. Their app has really expanded. You can log food and Water, goals, even set it to buzz your wrist if you've been inactive too long, or to wake you from a nap. I pair it with myfitnesspal and Runkeeper.
  18. Oh, wow! Mine is literally just above my belly button. My husbands is a few inches above his.
  19. I was a bit dizzy hear and there too. Thought maybe it was because my sugar intake was now so low. Just try to remember that your body is going thru some major changes. My husband was banded 3.5 yrs ago, so he told me that sucking on a hard candy (and you don't have to finish it, either) can help bounce your sugar back. I wasn't able to do the 'drink orange juice' stage yet, so I didn't bother with that. Once I moved into being able to eat more than just mushed up foods, it got better. Honestly, the Protein shakes helped me, too. My surgeon suggested crystal light in Water, but I'm not a fan of aspartame, so I have some that have sucralose in them, or natural sugar, and just a tiny bit has helped. The dizzy stage was very brief for me. Try to stick to it, as you will thank yourself in the long run. Sips of Protein Shakes helped my hunger in the middle of the night, too. I work midnights, so I was a mess post-op before I went back to work LOL. Hang in there! You've got this!!!

    SURGERY IS OVER!

Congrats to you! Protein shakes help me when I feel hungry. Even just taking a few drinks from one seems to help. Glad everything is going well, and welcome to the Losers Club!!!
  21. I agree with everyone else about obeying the drs orders, about not only diet, but everything. You've come this far, have taken huge steps to better your health, your LIFE, so keep doing what you've been told to. I'm 6.5 weeks post-op, and I haven't had any issues with anything. All of my incisions were sore, but nothing has been sore at all in about 3 wks. All my scabs are gone, and my scars are slowly blending into my normal skin tone. It sounds like others have some soreness in their port area as well, so maybe it's common? Where are everyone's ports located? Mine is right above my belly button. I've heard others are located off to the side.... As for salads... I've heard lettuce tends to give people some problems after they've been banded, causing the 'stuck' feeling. My husband will not eat it because it caused horrible pain due to it being stuck. As much as I love salad, I will stick to just regular veggies, and skip the lettuce. He's had problems with breads, tortillas, and other thin, stringy things, or chunks of food that he just didn't chew well. Being I just got my first fill today, I'm very nervous to introduce stuff to my now filled band. I was eating bread just fine without any Fluid in the band, but that can change now. I'm not a fan of puking, so I'm maintaining my 'chew to pulvarization' theory LOL!!! Congrats on your journey, and welcome to the Losers Club!!! <3

First fill less than 4 weeks out?

My first fill is scheduled for July 28th at 3 cc's... Can't wait!!! Oh, and I'm down a total of 26.2 lbs... YAY!!!

    How many calories?

I went for my 30-day post-op check-up today, and I had to do a quick questionnaire. One of the questions was, 'how many calorie's do you eat per day?' I put between 600-800. My surgeon didn't bat an eye at it, so I guess it's fine! I go next week Monday (July 28th) for my very first fill. I'm so excited! 3 cc's, here I come!!! I'm already down just over 26 lbs, so I'm ready to kick it into high gear!!!
  24. One month post-op, eating solids. But how many calories should I be taking in? I haven't had a fill yet (2 wks), and I'm forever hungry. I don't want to take in too much, then have to go back to liquids after my first fill. I know I'll have to be on the liquid diet for a minute, but after I can go back to my solids, how many calories?
  25. 1. Metabolife 2. Trimspa 3. Stacker 2 4. Lipozene 5. Jillian Michaels cleanse 6. Raspberry Ketone 7. Garcinia Cambogia 8. Hip Hop Abs (feels good, but hard on my knees) 9. Rebounding 10. Cardio Glide 11. Gazelle (which I still own and LOVE!) 12. Thighmaster 13. Nutrisystem (20 lb loss in 8 mos, 40 lb gain) I know there's a few others I've tried. Terrible!
