  1. Good friend asked me if I had ordered one. I've never heard of it for gastric surgery. Has anyone else?
  2. So, I'm supposed to get close to 64 oz of Water (or liquids total, minus Protein shakes/drinks) and I'm finding that almost impossible. No drinks one hour before meals, and no drinks one hour after meals. 64 oz is A LOT when you have to drink slow, plus having to drink Proteins, too. I can't do it. I'm lucky if I drink 32 oz of water with some Crystal Light, Gatorade, or ice water, per day. Plus Protein shakes? It's just too much for me. I didn't drink that much, pre-op. And I was told not to use straws. Pre-op, on occasion, I DID drink 64 oz, but it was with a straw. Frustrated...
  3. I ordered mine from a site called laurenshope.com. TONS of choices!!!

    Achey under right rib cage

I was banded on June 12th. I've had minimal to no pain, up until yesterday. All port side (near left rib cage), to where I can't slouch even the slightest bit. Driving today was awful. My underwire bra did not help it. It's not so much pain, as it is discomfort. I have good posture, but this is ridiculous. Forcing myself to keep my upper body completely straight, all day, is tiring, not to mention, bothering my back. I think I'm gonna finally have to take some of the pain meds tonight. As for lying on my left side, I haven't been able to YET. I have two incisions there and I swear it burns inside to try and twist or shift. My husband was banded 3.5 yrs ago, and he said he had the same problem, same side. He said nothing is tearing, that it's the muscle near the work site incision. But this crap near my rib cage is pissing me off!
  9. Junebug36 and Lady Lap Band... Thank you for the encouragement! I don't know if 500-600 calories per day is low, as I'm following the diet book from my surgeon. It doesn't mention a caloric intake at all anywhere that I can see. Once I get to day 28, I'll be able to eat slightly larger portions, which will obviously up my calories. I just worry because pre-op, I tried to watch my cals and I still couldn't lose, hence the surgery. I just worry that my body is doing the same thing. Upping calories worries me. Don't get me wrong, I'm gonna eat, and I'm not gonna overdo it by any means, nor will I starve myself. My thoughts are, if I'm eating this small amount now and not losing, eating more doesn't sound like I'd lose then, either. I know our bodies work crazy ways, tho! I just need to be patient and not worry.
  10. Nursekjeffrey.... What kind of Protein shakes are you drinking?
  11. No worries, Kitt3000!!! As for Protein shakes, I found different ones to drink instead of the same old chocolate milk flavor. I went to BariatricChoice.com and found some juice flavors. So far, the cran-grape is the first one I've tried, and it's REALLY good!!! Also, New whey vials, which are 42g of protein per vial. They are pretty strong to drink straight, but you can add them to Water. The watermelon flavor is ok, fruit punch is a bit 'better' but I'll deal with it for the amount of protein they have! It's just too hot outside for that thick chocolate shake when I'm out and about! Sorry to those who are having troubles! I hope you're feeling better soon! <3
  12. The weight I've lost post-op, doesn't even make a difference in my clothing. Still in the same size. I thought I'd have lost more than just 11 lbs by now. It doesn't make sense to me that my diet is about 500-600 calories per day, and there's no weight loss. Plus all the walking I do. I know I'm being impatient, but I guess I just expected more to be gone already.
  13. I am just over 2 weeks post-op, and there has been no loss since week 1. I'm following the diet plan to a T, and walking 2-5 miles per day. No fill yet (not til early August) so I'm frustrated......
  14. Mooseg... My husband has lost about 60 lbs total, but like I said, he's not sticking with the program. He's very laxed and it pisses me off. I watched him eat 3 slices of pizza the other day, and I just wanted to slap him! He rarely drinks any Protein shakes, rarely drinks Water, and NEVER exercises, EVER. Ugh! He's hard-headed. He told me the other day that he thinks he's gaining weight again. Ummm... Well, ya think??? I have no doubt he's put back some weight. He did so well in the very beginning, but he's never been one to follow the rules, sadly.
  15. I know we can't eat much (I'm only post-op one week) but let me tell you... I was so excited to have some blended up chili today!!! I even cried, I was so excited! My least favorite food during the first week was sugar free Jello... YUCK!
  16. I am now almost 2.5 weeks post-op, and able to eat stuff that's soft or mashed up. I think my favorite thing now is Albacore with light mayo. I drain the entire can, add about 3 tbs of light mayo, and I'm set! I eat 1/4 cup and I'm good with that. Lots of protein in it, too! Sugar free pudding is delightful, too!

    Starting to get nervous...

I went to my local CVS drug store and bought their store brand children's chewables. They we're buy one, get one 1/2 off, so I figured, why not? If I didn't like them, my 6 y/o could have them. Honestly, they aren't bad at all! I would buy them again
  18. My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow (June 12)... Yikes! I keep reading all the threads for post-op, and I'm worried. All this pain and being uncomfortable, having a tight feelings in the chest, not keeping fluids down. All of a sudden, I'm not so looking forward to this. My husband keeps telling me I'm doing the right thing, but I'm still worried. I only have three weeks off work. I have to go back, no way to extend it. I'm trying to stay positive, but I've never had any kind of surgery, so I'm kind of flipping out... ????

First fill less than 4 weeks out?

Surgery was June 12, first follow up appt was June 22. My surgeon told me he wanted to see me again in 3 more weeks, and if all was well then, he would schedule my first fill 2 weeks after that. Ugh. Seems like a long time to wait. I haven't lost any weight since week 1 post-op. I'm following the diet I was given, and walking between 2-5 miles per day. I'm frustrated.

How long after surgery return to work

My surgeon told me 2-3 weeks. I took 3.5 because of when my surgery date fell, and how my weekends fall. I have a little over a week left, and I'm glad I took all this time. I haven't had any issues whatsoever, but the rest was necessary. Honestly, I don't know how I'm gonna wear a bra when I do go back to work; one incision is right where my bra lies. It's so uncomfortable. Since being off, I've only warn one when I left the house LOL. Everyone is different, but I'm glad I took this time off
  21. Just the thought of Day 7 and blended chili LOL!!! Honestly tho, I was miserable. I was soooo hungry. I would try to drink Water to settle the hunger pangs down, but it seemed to only make them worse. What day Post-op are you? Are drinking any shakes yet? That helped a little bit....
  22. Right after surgery, you have to follow a STRICT diet, from your surgeon. It's set up that way to insure proper healing of your band, also prepping you for how to eat in the future. You can't scarf food down anymore, can't chug down pop, alcohol, or even Water anymore. Everything is much slower. Lots of chewing, lots of smaller bites, lots of sips, and certainly no alcohol and sodas. The caffeine is a no-no for the first two weeks, according to my diet plan. The first 3 days were nothing but liquid, at 2-3 oz each meal, 6 meals a day, plus 24 oz of water. Days 4-6 were still 6 liquid meals, but every other one was a Protein drink, all still 2-3 oz each. Day 7-13 are what they call the blended stage. Portions upped to 3-4 oz, and now certain foods are added, such as yogurt, creamed Soups, cottage cheese, veggies, even chicken and turkey with brith added. Still drinking the Protein shakes, 3-4 oz in between each meal, still incorporating 24 oz of water. Mind you, this is how my des plan is, others may be different. So far, so good for me! (My diet plan goes up to 5 wks post-op. I can post more of it, if you'd like.) My husband was banded in 2010, and he still eats like crap, but his portions are very small. The band lets you know when enough is enough. I wish he would eat better. I'm hoping my better choices will rub off on him!!!
