  1. Well, I turned 52 the day before my surgery but I recovered very easily. It was my third abdominal surgery and I recovered easiest from this (lap left kidney removal for donation and left ovary with giant cyst open were the other two). I had no trouble walking a mile on day 4. Day 4 of kidney removal I was still clutching my gut for every move! I walked a much before that surgery as before this one (and I weighed a lot less). Of course with the left kidney and ovary gone, I guess there was more room on that side :-) I go back to work tomorrow. I think it's just dumb luck this time but I'm thankful for it. I was prepared for it to be much worse.

    Sept 3 sleevers?

Going back to work on Wednesday. I am a bit worried about water and energy level. I am still struggling a bit with fluids and work will be busy.

    Sept 3 sleevers?

Post op today. Feeling great about my loss (4 lbs) since I did 2 weeks of liquids, 2 days of Clear Liquids, and a colon cleanse before surgery :-) I get to do pureed foods now including meats. Tuna "salad" (tuna, greek yogurt, and spices) for dinner.

SEPTEMBER 2014 POST-OP SLEEVERS CHECKING IN!

8 days post op (9/3/14). Doing well. The staples came out today and I am now allowed to have pureed food--woo hoo! Returning to work next Wednesday.

    Sept 3 sleevers?

I've had major abdominal surgery 3 times now (donated my kidney to my brother, removal of left ovary and giant cyst, and now sleeve). The ovary removal was a open but the kidney was an lap surgery, too. Both the others were horrible. I remember not being able to move in the mornings after the kidney surgery (I flew cross county at 3 weeks and that was horrible). Not sure why I lucked out this time--I think I was better prepared, did my breathing exercises, and, frankly, just lucked out. I feel a little guilty about the lack of pain (I would describe it as discomfort and it's not all the time). I was moving much earlier in the hospital, too. But, this time I did get constipation (thank you Philips Milk of Magnesia for my relief today).

Anthem Blue Cross PPO through employer

Same wording as mine (CalPers PersChoice administrated by Anthem Blue Cross). My primary wrote a letter about what I had done, I wrote a short (2 page) history of my dieting with approximate weights, dates, and diets, and gave those to the surgeon who talked to me about it. Not sure what he sent but I didn't have to do any more diets (they don't require it) and was approved the first go round (and sleeved last week!)

    Sept 3 sleevers?

I went off nausea meds yesterday. I only took pain meds last night. I am going to skip them tonight.

    Sept 3 sleevers?

Pepcid really helped me. My biggest problem with liquids is that I can't drink cold water without pain.

    Sept 3 sleevers?

Yes but it's going down. I also found it is better if the fluid is not cold.

    Wanted: September Sleevers!

I ended up using a gas med. I am behind on fluids because I had some nausea this morning.

    Sept 3 sleevers?

So decaf coffee made me sick. At least I won't be tempted to have a regular one soon.

    Sept 3 sleevers?

I am having slight to moderate nausea with the pain meds. At least I slept better last night.

I am home, too. The one hour drive killed me but a quick lay down helped.

    September Sleevers!

Don't worry. I have heart issues but my cardiologist gave clearance with a couple of tests. I had my surgery yesterday.

@@BlessedOne83, my surgeon said I could take as little as a week off since I have a desk job. I'm taking 2 weeks off.

    Wanted: September Sleevers!

Surgery is supposed to be September 3. I had a shock when I went for my pre-op on Friday and discovered that the office staff had the day off (which is strange because I was told to come in by noon that day.) Living in limbo now but still doing pre-op diet. Tomorrow I go to clear liquids. I will get this all straightened out on Tuesday.
