Thinking making sure and PRAYING!!! I think I'm more nervous about not being around my child. I know my husband will do fine with her...but we all know moms always do best...This will be the FIRST TIME NOT PUTTINE HER TO BED ....It's my separation anxiety. I know all will be great...I keep telling myself this is for a better life with my husband, my daughter, and for me. August 11, 2014... We are Ready! Well.... as ready as can be!!!

Hi All!!! People can be evil!!! even Love ones!!!! I have type 2 diabetes, kidney issues, liver issues, and I'm 33. I want to LIVE LONGER for my husband and child. I will do this surgery no matter what!! But why do folks feel the need to say " Oh you taking the EASY WAY OUT" ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!! That strikes a nerve in the worst way!!!! Is it really the easy way...because last I checked being overweight since I was 5 has been difficult! Having any surgery is not a walk at the park....especially recuperating... Having this disease is NOT AT ALL EASY!!!! if LOSING WEIGHT AND EATING HABITS would disappear than fine that would be easy but it's NOT! This time around I'm hesitant to tell folks what I'm doing because of the STUPID comments...... Your thoughts please!!!

Yahoooo... I finally got a date for my surgery!!!! August 11th!!! I had to change my original Dr. from BIDMC-Boston- they were being jerks and not getting back to me..they were telling me I had to lose weight...DUH!!! I mean they wanted to me to lose weight but not give me any guidance or anything. They weren't allowing me to schedule appt....THEY BOTCHED my first surgery attempt I should of known better....therefore I went elsewhere....and it was truly the BEST decision ever...... My new Dr. ( Dr. Julie Kim - Mount Auburn -Cambridge- has been AMAZING!!!! plus her staff have been phenomenal. 2 more weeks!!! I pray this 2nd VSG attempt goes perfect!!!

I have 2 more weeks...what shall I be doing as of now??? Any diet plans for anyone...your thoughts?
-
Some people are required to start their protein shake liquid diet at this point. Our plans very on this. Mine was ten days out and for some people it's a couple of days. Since the purpose is to shrink you liver so that your stomach is easier to get to, I would suggest that you should ask your doctor if you need to start right now. The more prepared you are for surgery, the easier it will be for the doctor to do his work.

Hello All I am new to this Forum... I had the gastric sleeve ATTEMPT in 2012. It was aborted due to an "enlarge liver". I was beyond upset when this happen...not to mention the 2 weeks it took to recuperate with NO PAIN MEDS!!!! It's something that is a constant reminder ...especially looking at my scars... 2014 and I want to retry to get the Gastric Sleeve... I currently weigh 220 / I'm 5'3 and my liver functions are : ALT- 68 (range 2-40) * slightly high AST-54 (range 2-35) * slightly high ALK- 108 (range 20-125) The same hospital that I had the surgery is looking over my info to see if it's possible. Did anyone have an enlarge liver and slightly elevated liver function and have the same issue? I truly feel that this shouldn't stop me from having the surgery. My size isn't morbid, but since I have type 2 diabetes I want to have this surgery to have a better life! I really want this surgery but the " enlarge liver" is preventing me....they said losing weight will help...but in order for me to do so the program needs to accept me first...if I lose weight before I wont qualify.... Does Anyone have a similar story that would like to share!!! Yours truly!!!!

So true people don't understand other people story or struggles!!! Thanks for responding!!! love positive feed back!! C'mon......it's just the idea of people not understanding the whole story that is really bugging us about that "Easy" crack. In truth, losing the weight is easier than any efforts I made before......not to mention I'm actually changing my lifestyle and eating healthy this time. OK, OK..... I know there is the whole "life risking" surgery thing and recovery pain and mini meals and no gulping and tenny bites and chewing endlessly and loss of taste and and and. Plus there is still that reality that I have to change my eating habits to eat less......and healthy and exercise and take Vitamins and pretty much everything that any other weight loss would entail........So where is the easy part. Who cares what anybody says or thinks. You not going to change their minds or way of thinking. All I care about is reaching my goal and regaining my health and my life. Convincing others of how I got there is of no consequence. When someone comments to me about the Easy way out.....I just say....."Yep, I shoulda done it years ago"

omg!!! THAT'S AWESOME!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

Don't they ask where you were, or why you look smaller? I work for the disability dept at my work place and when I return to work the forms I enter from disability will come through there the office...I work in a place where everything is "confidential" and let me tell you...nothing is confidential...so I figure they will know anyways...granted they cant ask me but they know. My family and I are tight.. Wait didn't people wonder why you were smaller? or why you were out of work for that long? I work for the Disability Dept at my work place...and everything there is "confidential", but nothing is confidential ..if you get what I mean....they will know about my medical procedure but not allowed to ask...but I figure I'd tell them...they don't matter to me...I think the more I answer sleevers response the stronger and thicker is my skin!!! thanks so much for sharing!!!!

Thanks so much for replying!!!! I know you are right!! It all depends on the experience Surgeon....I'm trying 2 location and which ever agrees..than I will go to that center but next time I wont let a younger surgeon operate....lesson learned!!! I had the exact same problem. I was in Virginia when I had my first surgery. They took me to the operating room and unfortunately they couldn't do it since my liver was enlarged. When I went to sacramento to see dr. Eslami in sacramento Slimlifesolutions.com he operated on me three months later and I got my sleeve. I think it all depends in surgeons experience. The only thing is I had to pay cash since my insurance didn't cover here in ca. I'm so happy with the surgery and so thankful to dr. Eslami. I was informed that having enlarge liver is common and happens in over weight patients. I would recommend dr. Eslami he's a great bariatric surgeon. I don't know where you live but you should check out their website. Mary, Love my new life
