Anyone else striving to loss 100 lbs by your Bandiversary?
valstar replied to NanaRenan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ceradad and Alaverde congratulations on 100lbs! Wow!:hurray: Nana, look at your ticker moving! I'm not changing my ticker until I see the dr. on Monday. My appointment was moved from the 4th to the 10th. I went to an annual function yesterday and wore a size 18 form fitting suit! I received so many compliments it began to be embarrassing! :blush2:I hope the scale supports the inches gone! Congrats all on the great progress! -
Hi Mary, Your numbers are wonderful! I've lost about 32 in so far. I got discouraged recently because I hit a plataeu. I realized that I was exercising, cardio, strength training and Pilates. I am developing muscles that I didn't even know I had and my butt is so much tighter. I want to know how you measure % lean body mass and body fat. This may be a simple questions but I have never had it done. Val

Hey all, I wanted to share an experience. A dental hygienist told me she was having WLS (RNY) and I told her I had had LB. This came up during a dental appt. It was our first meeting. A month later I went back to the dentist and thought I was talking to the same person. When i comment on her weight loss she thanked me and I asked her how the surgery went. The person I was talking to responded very smugly, "Oh, your thinking of my coworker. I just lost 60 lbs over the past year but I did it the good old fashioned way." I responded by saying,"Congratulations but you know, it the good old days they removed bullets without anesthesia (sp?). WLS is a tool that has proven very effective for some people." She looked shocked at me response and sheepishly walked away. people can be very judgemental. I don't usually care. I tell those that ask because they are looking for a way to lose themselves and some I just say I'm working hard at it. I agree with ceredad but it is a personal choice. I don't know if I would want to deal with attitudes like this women's everyday. Val

Hey Nana and Fastpitch great to hear from you guys! Hey Frangi and the the other crazy ates!, My 6 month appointment is not until Monday. I weighed myself at the gym today, fully dressed and holding 2 towels and still was lighter than my last ticker update! I'm still not changing it until I se the Dr. but I may not be as far behind my 6 month mini goal as I thought. Keep up the good work all! By the way, when I was feeling a little down recently, someone suggested I get a pet. Well with all the other living things in my house, I didn't think I needed one. Well, my husband just rescued a big puppy who I have been walking at least once a day as well as my regular workout! I must admit, the love and appreciation from that big puppy is amazing! Val -

Anyone else striving to loss 100 lbs by your Bandiversary?
valstar replied to NanaRenan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello All, I've been out of the loop for what seems like a couple of weeks. I have been traveling for work and working on papers. Yesterday was my 6 month anniversary. Don't know what I weigh but I know I'm at least 54lbs down. Wish it were 60 for my original goal of 10 a month but I am happy. I don't think I'm going to make 100 by my anniversary but I am still striving for that. My weight loss has slowed tremendously as I have lost some momentum. I'm still working out regularly and I haven't stalled its just soooo slooow, but I'm not complaining. I'm still moving in the right direction. I have my 6 month follow-up tomorrow. I will change my ticker then for weight loss, exercise challenge and inches. Glad to see all the progress that people have made! Congrats all! Val -
Please post the recipe before i convince myself that ice cream is just frozen milk!

OOOH, I like this thread! I just found it today but I'm sure it is going to be a favorite of mine. I am staying on plan today because I want to reach 55 lbs before my 6 month check up! -
Another 2 cents. I agree with the post that said 8 yr old can understand privacy. So I would start there. If it still slips out and you get a call just say nothing serious and change the subject quickly and if she brings it back up say, "Oh, that's my other line. I need to take this call. Enjoy the kids!" Good luck to you! Personally I have told people because I can't keep a secret to save my life! Shame on your sister ut she sounds like me!:smile2: Val

You know, I hadn't thought about journaling. That has worked for me in the past. I think I'll give it a try. Thanks! Val -
Congrats Mary!:smile2: I am in twoderville for the first time in 7 years! I can't wait to get below 250! About 17 hard lbs to go! Doesn't success feel grand?! Congrats to those who have upcoming dates and those starting the process. This site has really helped me to stay focused! val

August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far
valstar replied to MissNilsa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have a cat, two kids, a grandchild and a husband in the house. It is not external. I have to resolve some things in me. I am work full time, in classes and working on a dissertation. I need to make sure I get proper rest and slow down. Sometimes at night, I am so revved up. Food slows me down. My mom was my best friend, my biggest cheerleader, my trusted confidant and my wisest advisor. She helped to ground me. I need to figure out how to ground myself. Thanks for listening and offering suggestions. Val -
August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far

Night time eating has been an issue for me especially since my mother passed. I always get hungry around the time I would have been talking to her on the phone. For the past few days, I have been going to bed to get far from the kitchen. I have to find something else to fill the void. The scale is moving, slowly but it is moving. Not changing my ticker until I am at my 6 month goal (even if it takes 7 months!). Stayed home from work today because I didn't want to go out in the cold and snow! Thanks for the encouragement. Val -
Hello All, still plugging at a way at my challenge but I don't think I will make it. We finally got some snow here and I think I am staying in today. I have a walking away the pounds DVD so I will do that today. Take care!

August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far
valstar replied to MissNilsa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So O.K., I need a kick in the butt too! I have been doing so well, workingout 5 times a week and eating right all day and then at 9:30 at night, I start to feel like I need to snack! I graze on this and that and I jknow it destroys all the work I have done all day! This is the hard part for me because everyone is talking about how good I look and how much weight I have lost and I begin to feel like I can ease up for just a moment. I deserve it. That is the behavior that had nme gain weight year after year! I'm with you Pizz and Bad I am putting a moratorium on everything not on the list. I am 5 lbs from my revised, revised 6 month goal and I am 9 days out. I go in for my 6 month post op on Mar 4 so that gives me a few extra days to knock off these 5 lbs. Well, I had to get that out! I'm going to bed to save myself from food! Val -

Hey Pammy, Good to hear from you again. Congrats on twoderville and halfway there!! That's wonderful! Pizzi, I don't need an unfill it's behavioral. I still can't beleive that I can't eat certain foods and I sometimes wait too long to eat and then I eat too fast. I am working on slowing down. No PB's yesterday. I ate slowly and more frequent small meals. I have to get better with taking my vitamins and meds everyday! I can't wait until that part is over! Valerie -
Alright Salsa! Only got in 20 mins on the eliptical (but I like whosya's spelling better "eliptokill"!:biggrin2:) this morning. I'll try to do a tape to make up for it. Talk to you later!

Oh, Pizzicato congratulations!!! Kick Butt in LA LA Land! I hope it works out for you! I'm just checking in. the scale has been moving but I haven't updated my ticker. I have very good restriction still from my mid January fill. I have been PBing for the first time since surgery. I am finding with propoer retriction there are some things I just can't eat anymore and every time I try I get sick. So, I give up on bread! Also having trouble with chicken. That's probably a good thing. Take care all! -
Happy Birthday Sun and Steph! Luv2laugh, I am a year older than you pretty close to the same BMI and have also lost 50lbs in 5 months! Here's to the next 50! When I started this, I wanted to lose 75lbs. After the first 30 I said well, maybe 100lbs. Now I want to lose 119! I also said If I lose 50lbs in the first year I will be happy. Now I want to lose 100 lbs in the first year! But I guess looking back, I can be happy whereever I end up from here as long as it is down! I am feeling so much more confident and better about myself. I get frustrated on the weeks when I don't lose but then I recover and keep doing what I know will work. The weight will come off and the inches will go down! Keep up the good work all!:wink2: Val

Bandster, keep your chin up! Everyone loses at different rates. I had to up my water intake and cut out sodium because the water weight was a drag. The scale showed a 5 lb weight gain just last week. But as soon as I made those changes, the scaled moved in the right direction. Make sure you are following the band recommended foods, drink plenty of water and get into an exercise routine that you can stick with. Start slow if you have to and increase it when you can. Just make sure it is something you can live with. Talk to your Dr. about your restriction level. Good luck!
