I have always had very long hair down to my mid back and in April I had it cut down to shoulder length in a layer cut. This past Saturday when I went back I had a "oh what the hell moment" took a deep breath and asked my stylist to do a short angled bob. I have to say while my hair has never been this short before I love it. I have wavy hair naturally so I have to straighten it after washing. I just wanted to say don't be afraid to go short!

when did people start to notice your loss?
ivyrose325 replied to MarylandMommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started out with a BMI of 53 so it took a while for ppl to notice the difference I would say about 60 lbs -
I remember looking at my wedding photos right after we were married and wishing that my bouquet had been bigger so I would have been camouflaged by it . Even sadder as the weight piled on I remember looking at the same photo and thinking how thin I looked.

Although I am not at goal yet, I am down 120 lbs since being banded a bit more then 10 months ago and 155 lbs since being at my all time heaviest.I KNOW that I can get the last 50 pounds off even though it is getting harder to do. I have gone from being a tight size 30/32 to a loose size 14 << regular fat >>. There is a palpable difference in how people treat me. Yet still I don't feel "normal". In the past when I lost a lot of weight 135 lbs on my own it was so gradual that my head really had a chance to catch up with my body. What can I do to help my head catch up with my body ?

Sorry that you're in so much pain. Besides the Advil What about some Orajel ? I think topical pain relievers are great. good luck tomorrow -
I also delivered ds by c-section and started to seriously consider the lap band when he was 6 months old. My Surgeon also required a 1 year wait for all new moms ( even those who had delivered vaginally) I remember getting insurance approval as soon as they submitted but having to wait for ds' first birthday to pass. Good luck on your banding and congrats on your little one

lovenox shots
ivyrose325 replied to got2gethealthy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't need lovenox after being banded, but my OB did have me use it for 14 days after delivering my son via C-section. I was at my heaviest after giving birth and he was concerned about clots. -
I like a few spoonfuls of ricotta cheese mixed with splenda it kinda tastes like a cannoli

A newbie from Essex uk!

Hi Tracie, Congrats on your banding ! Any product that has the active ingredient Simethicone should help to ease your gas pain and a heating pad is also a great help. Simethicone - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I remember having a few raised contusions from where the IVs were placed, so that sounds normal to me. I don't have any tips for battling our cold, but I am sure that you won't do any damage to your band. good luck -
urination problems?
ivyrose325 replied to pinkdots410's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you been perspiring a lot? I noticed the other day when it was over 100 degrees with the heat index that even though I kept drinking bottles and bottles of water I didn't use the bathroom at all for 8 hours. Later I realized that it was because I was sweating like crazy. Since your surgery was less then a month ago a call to your dr. couldn't hurt. Take care -
When did you feel like a "normal" person ?
ivyrose325 replied to ivyrose325's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for the responses ! I'm glad to see that this isn't unusual. When I had lost a lot of weight before in my late teens I was just so happy to finally be at goal. Even though I still have a bit to go now I can't believe how well people are treating me, especially since I really don't see what they see. I am going to check out your blogs -
yes there are two "fill center usa" locations in NJ One is in Mount Laurel and one is opening in Millburn Fill Centers USA - Lap Band Fill - Lap Band Support - Lap Band Post Surgery - Weight Loss Surgery - Fill Center USA - LapBand Adjustments - Bariatric Surgery - LapBand Fill

Of all the areas that I would consider PS for including my breasts, tummy, thighs, arms and derrière my mons hasn't made the list. Maybe I'm in denial, but I feel like it's one body part that still looks decent. LOL

Before my wedding I went for a spa treatment and had my entire body waxed. The funny thing was the bikini wax didn't hurt that much but having my arm pits done hurt beyond belief!! Go figure. I haven't had it done in 3 years because I had put on too much weight and felt embarrassed now I might go all out and have a Brazilian done soon

You're not alone I have a lot of dark black hair all over that I constantly have to shave, tweeze, thread, and wax to get rid of. For large areas I usually shave but for any facial hair I prefer waxing.

Thank you teacherofk I had a lot of weight to lose, so that is part of the reason why it came off so fast. Still of course it has meant huge changes on my part. I drink about 10+ glasses of Water a day and follow the bandster rule of eating Protein first. I started out by walking 20 mins a day 2 days a week and have increased it . Besst of luck to you !

I had a fat patch and it's gone now In the past when I had also lost large amounts of weight it also disappeared. I get pain at the base of my neck quite a bit. I never associated the two I just figured that all the time I spend doing school work ( I droop my head when I read and write) had caused the discomfort. I find taking a hot shower is very helpful. Reading this thread made me take a look at my back in the mirror and I noticed that I am getting that "sexy" indentation going down my back from my shoulder blades to just above my tush . Now I remember why I got that butterfly tat on my lower back - it looks good there now

I have noticed a slight difference in my breasts since nursing DS. However, now with my weight loss they are both shrinking and the difference is even less noticeable

What would you like to do/acheive once you have reached goal??

You know you are a bandster when....
ivyrose325 replied to Tyler883's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Aubrie I am glad that you got a laugh out of my brownie sniffing comment !!! JST4Kel - My dog Zoe so gets that look before I PB !! You know you are a bandster when your monthly appointments with your surgeon have people thinking that you are pregnant and going to the OB-GYN (again maybe that's just me) -
Jennifer, Honey <<hugs>> it's ok, we all indulge every once in a while. I think the trick is to of course make it a once in a while thing and release yourself from the guilt of having something that you normally wouldn't. That is one thing I have noticed about my averaged sized friends I never hear them say "I shouldn't have eaten that" I think it's because they realize that one little thing isn't going to ruin them. With that said do you need a fill ? I know that things which normally wouldn't tempt me when I have proper restriction do when it is time for an adjustment. You are doing so well 3 months out and almost half way to goal. You can do it !!!

I have been very fortunate with every fill that I have had I have always felt *some* restriction for at least a few weeks. The last fill I had has lasted since March the longest time that I have gone between fills. Over the last 5 days I have felt my restriction reduce and today I felt like I could eat almost anything!!! Of course I have called my doctor but they don't think they can get me in until July !! AGHHH I haven't felt this way since awaiting my very first fill. thanks for letting me vent
