When did your hair loss start?
lollienc replied to EllieMae's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I did not start losing hair until 5 months. It was a shock because I thought I was out of the woods -

There was no restriction about spicy food from our surgeon. It is a matter of what you can tolerate. I ate spicy food.

I skipped ahead. I was a couple short on the liquid, did a day or two on purée, then a few soft. I was very hungry and tolerating everything so I moved to regular pretty quickly. No ill effects that I am aware of.

My experience was that after I lost 20 pounds on the liquid diet, I began to feel relief in my knees. I also was motivated to do the surgery by my knees.

Why do I have to wait to drink?
lollienc replied to mnkj719416's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Our surgeon group says that drinking during meals will push the food through your stomach to quickly to achieve fullness and that it will result in faster hunger. -

That certainly sounds way too long to me. I have never seen a protocol for longer than 2 weeks and I have done a lot of research. Double check. Two weeks is hard enough.

I am with you all. I am a June 2 sleeve and have really not lost for a week. I have looked over my calories which are around 700 and I am walking 2.5 to 3 miles per day. Very frustrating.

Vacation after Gastric Sleeve Surgery
lollienc replied to NavyMom6's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery June 2 and by mid week last week, my energy was basically back to normal. You may need to pass on some activities if you are still experiencing the after-surgery fatigue. Go no where without a well-chilled protein shake in a cooler and lots of water. You don't ever know what will be available and that should keep you comfortable. Have fun! -
I would agree that you are not ready for the surgery. Until you feel that you are saving your life with this surgery, you should not go forward with it.

This is way cool and surprisingly close to real for me. Thanks for sharing! -
I can understand why you might have fears, but obviously the complications are rare exceptions and not the rule. There is no way that doctors would put themselves at such huge risk if these complications were common. I had a great experience. I had surgery June 2. I was up and walking within hours of surgery and discharged the next morning. By the end of day 4, there was no pain. I thought I would never be able to drink so much water, but that finally got bettr by about the 6th day. Today, I am walking 50 minutes and doing water exercises. Last week I thought I would never get my energy back and this week, I am much better. I have to remind myself that I had surgery just 2.5 weeks ago. If you follow the doctor's orders exactly - walk as frequently as possible after surgery (even I f it is only a very short way and strive to stay hydrated) you will most likely do really well. Complications can be serious, but they are rare. This is life changing surgery. Be excited.
