    Pain after sleeve surgery?

I have had many surgeries but I am also worried. This is because I am very physically active and go to the gym 4-5 times a week. Yes, there is a lot of fat on my stomach but also hard muscle underneath and I fear the puncturing portion of those muscles painful. My most painful have been Ortho surgeries though.
  2. I'm leaving Monday for San Diego. I'm very cheap and searched and searched. I even picked Midway airport over O'hare or Indy. I would have gone to Cincinnati too! Whichever was the best price. I booked thru southwest and paid 300 bucks. I even had to change dates due to dr conflict and didn't cost any money to change. Plus no baggage fees!

Need a buddy near Noblesville, IN

I know where Morocco is! I don't have to have a passport because The medical center is a certain distance from the border. I didn't believe it but I looked it up on federal website and it's legit. They know what they're doing. I only have to be on a three day diet, liquid , and a small protein at night! I bought all kinds of protein drinks. I'm going alone. Now that you have your passports, you can travel the world!

    Looking for July Sleevers!

I'm July 8th in Mexico. My doctor bases your preop diet on your starting BMI, so I only have to do a 3 day preop. I'm really lucky in that regard. I'm so thankful for this group and this new FB group. I want to use my sleeve to its best ability and group support is part of this journey. Praying and applauding everyone. The fact that we are taking action is amazing!
  6. I have been really nervous because I have read so many FB posts from people who were not successful with the sleeve. With my previous failures,,, it is stressing me!!!

    Afraid of failure

Doesn't sound harsh. I'm a researcher so have gone over the professional studies. For 1-3 years there is about 70% body fat loss but between year 3-6 it goes down to 50-57%. Don't get me wrong... I will take that! So, it seems that people go back to old habits. However these rates are MUCH better than no surgery. I guess I will have to really focus after year three. Numbers never lie. I think it is normal to fear failure. I see so many posters that stop posting far out from surgery too... So there is that. I am committed and get the idea of it being a tool,, I think of it like using swim fins:) I have kept up previous weight loss up to 8 years,,, but here I am. Thanks for listening to my craziness. ????????????????

    Any july surgery dates?

I have been eating like it is the last supper! I am eating very bad like I am saying a long goodbye to food. I have done so much research and one study says that results are not related to food addiction.. Very promising. People don't think I'm 'fat enough' for surgery,, lol! Just pudgy I suppose. They don't get the hypertension and sleep apnea that I was able to stop with previous weight loss. I work out all the time and people tell me that is more important than being smaller. I am taking this journey for ME. I have a desk job and have gained over 50 lbs over the last 10 years. Ok,, vent over! Therapeutic!

Is the sleeve safe long term?

My husband had most of his stomach removed in 2004 due to cancer. He is very thin but never big to begin with. He is anemic and needs vitamins. His surgeon told us then that people can live without any stomach,, the intestines will do the work. The doctor has never worried about his weight.
  12. We never know what a surgeon does when lights out. I don't think it is telling a surgeon their job if you express your concerns. I expressed my concerns about having bottled water due to sanitation. Go to gastricsleeve.com and there are forums for nurses who have had the surgery and they can give you more info. I wish you nothing but the best on your journey.
  13. The thing with medical tourism is that they will go out of their way for you. They want you to have a grade A experience so they will have your business and friends business. It is a popular choice for a reason. There is no such thing as a complete sterile environment. Tell the surgeon your concerns, tell the coordinator your concerns. When I was researching testimonials on YouTube, the interesting thing was the patients with complications had their surgery done in the states! I was suprised.

I'm 38 years old. My current weight is 208 ( but have been up to 217) and I'm 5'4. My goal,, wow! I want to feel better and not disgusted by myself. I'd like to weigh under 150 or less. Food is controlling me.
