Ottawa / gatineau sleeve
DarbiMolly replied to bryanbistro's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi, I'm from Kingston (originally Ottawa) - I'd like to chat about it. -
**By not eating processed food/carbs my diet is not healthy and I can't sustain a weight loss** Oh ok, so when people used to farm and eat off the land that was a bad thing? So eating processed food/carbs is a good thing? This was coming from a personal trainer. **Just lose the weight on your own** Oh, ok, thanks for that advice, I couldn't figure that one out! I know so many people who just don't eat at all and then criticize heavy people. I'd rather be overweight than anorexic.

Getting Back on Track after having a baby...
DarbiMolly replied to TheChubbbyOne's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Do hormones play a big role in weight loss? Is my breastfeeding hindering losing pounds? **I would say that hormones do play a big role in weight loss. I don't know that much about breastfeeding, you may want to ask someone who has had that experience. Do you have any suggestions to help me get on track? I feel like my brain is still in pregnancy mode and that I'm still growing a baby... **start tracking your food. Find out how much you should be eating during breastfeeding. Would doing a week on the liquid diet help at all? **only if its healthy and doesn't affect breast feeding Is there a possibilty that I've stretched my pouch? Did I screw up royally by getting pregnant and ruin my chances of being skinnier again? **Having a baby is not a mistake, its a blessing. You can get on track again. After pregnancy it could take a long time for your body to readjust again. I would talk to your doctor and don't panic. -
I was a "super healthy" fat person until surgery changed my life. Was it worth it?

I loved the pics of you doing that mud run. Your face is hilarious! You are thoroughly enjoying yourself! -
Bad day yesterday!

One day at a time. Just remember how the food made you feel - not worth it! Get back up on that wagon! -

Huge Emergency Issue. Proti-Diet liquid protein is NOT vegetarian/kosher and my surgery is Monday!
DarbiMolly replied to JerseyCityGal's topic in Food and Nutrition
have you googled kosher/vegetarian? I found this .... http://www.nutribodyprotein.com/shop.php -
When I first started reading the posts on the forums I saw that a whole lot of people had 1 day, 2 day, 1 week, 2 week pre op liquid diets. This made me feel horrible and sorry for myself because I had to do a 4 week pre op. But ..... Given that my first 2 weeks is coming to an end and I am moving from my high Protein, low carb, low fat diet to week 1 of liquids, I am thankful for the slow integration into the change in eating habits. I am down 13.8 lbs in 14 days and I feel AWESOME! My head hunger is much less, I'm off caffeine and sugar, I'm not craving anything. I now "get" why my doctor has us do this. To get my eating habits in line, to detox my body, to be prepared for my new life. I sort of feel bad for people who have a very short pre op because I feel like they are being "thrown into the fire" so to speak. My advice ... start changing your eating habits NOW to prepare yourself, lose weight before surgery. Good luck to all! I have 2 weeks and 5 days to go!

3 Day Pre-op Liquid Diet - The Secret is Better than Bouillon!
DarbiMolly replied to cerenatee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 2 weeks clean eating, 2 weeks liquids. Liquids start Monday! Surgery in just over 2 weeks! Yay! -
I weened myself off coffee. I mostly drink tea but I have one decaf a day. After surgery I can't have any and I'm ok with that. Not craving caffeine really helps!
-
Could you speak to those people and explain to them how it makes you feel?

Looks like someone photoshopped someones else's body on my legs...
DarbiMolly replied to marfar7's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Everyone's body is different. I have wider hips and I'm short waisted with longer legs. Someone else may have broader shoulders. You look great and you are healthy! I learned to dress for my body type! Do some investigating - not everyone can wear the same old stuff. Congrats!!!! -

I agree. You should check with your nutritionist about the ratio of protein/carbs/fat/calories. -
Wake Up Call?
DarbiMolly replied to HalloweenBaby24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First of all, beautiful pic of you and your dad. Mine was when I went to the pharmacy with my son and while we were waiting I tried out the blood pressure machine and my bp was high. I have never ever had high bp. That was it for me. -
4 wks post surgery, gaining weight and panicking
DarbiMolly replied to Happygoomom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can stall - according to what my facilitator said. It's normal. You should see what you are eating. Maybe too many carbs? I can't have more than 30g of carbs, 15g of fat and 800 cals/day. -
It's funny because on days when I think I should cut back, if I eat protein the next day I almost always lose.

Feeling like my "partner" doesnt get it
DarbiMolly replied to RKPG2angels's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Whoever does the groceries .... STOP BUYING JUNK! LOL. If he wants it, he can go get it. Make a nice lean chicken meal with salad - let's see if he eats it. -
Feeling like my "partner" doesnt get it
DarbiMolly replied to RKPG2angels's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is really sad. My hubby told me (I didn't even ask) that we were getting rid of all the junk food, no more treats in the house - if he wants something he will eat it when I'm not there or he's out. Plus, he eats what I do. Example, if I make frittata, I'll put cheese on his, but not mine but we both eat the same thing. He eats salad and veggies. I make him rice and it doesn't bother me not to eat it, but if it did, he said he won't have it either. He's 500% supportive! If the people who love you the most won't support you, who will? -

Day 2 pre op. I am the biggest b***h alive?
DarbiMolly replied to Jersrose43's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No not kidneys - definitely back pain and lots of it When I was pregnant I would get sciatica pain as my weight changed and it almost feels like that. My leg is getting tingles and shooting pains down it from my back. Before my pre op I started to drink lots of water. One morning I had kidney pain so bad. My hubby asked me how much water I had. I drank a lot and he said my kidneys were probably overloaded. I stopped drinking for an hour and the pain subsided. I'm trying not to do anything DRASTIC now to my body.
