I just have a question... My port has "moved" to some degree. Last time I was in for a fill the nurse told me it had "shifted" because I lost some weight (about 18 lbs.) and that my insides have changed causing the port to "tilt". She had a really hard time and poked and prodded until she got it. I guess I can deal with that, but now when I feel the port myself, it is like it is on it's side. I am just wondering how they will access it for another fill, which I need! My other concern is will it have to be fixed with surgey if they can't access it for a fill? I would love to know that now since I have met my deductible for the year and would love to have it done by the end of the year so it will be covered 100%. Just wondering if anyone out there had "tilted" port problem and how they were fixed. Thanks.

Okay... I am a slow loser also but I know a lot of it is my own fault. They say that you will lose most of the weight roughly in the first year to year and a half. My question... if I get my sh%t straight, will I still have the ability to lose the weight or am I just out of luck. What is the chance of being successful after a year and a half. May will be two years for me and I have lost 40-45 lbs. While i am not complaining, I just have about another 60 lbs or more that I would like to lose. Anybody out there that has had this and how successful was the weight lose after 2 years? Thanks in advance....

My son (3rd grade) has been involved in two altercations on the bus. 1st... another child was strangling him. Hands around his throat and all. A 4th grader was trying to pull this kid off of my son. I, of course, went to the principal. Ended up that this kids had been being picked on as well and he thought that my son hit him. He did not, but the kid took it out on my son anyway. He was confronted and he admitted what he did and did apologize to my son. He was moved to the front of the bus and we have had no instances since. I even suggested to my son that he should try to be nice to the boy since he feels like no one likes him. 2nd... a child on the bus told my son that he was going to "kick his a$$" and proceeded to kick my son in the back. Left marks on his back and all. IN DEFENSE, my son pushed the kid away from him and this other kids head hit the window and broke it. No one was hurt by the broken window. It was like when a rock hits your window. It did not shatter. Both boys got a bus report. I do not think it was fair but that is the policy. We have always told our kids that they (1) ask the person to stop, making eye contact. That person has ONE chance to stop. (2) If it continues, our kids are told to defend themselves and we will deal with the consequenses later (school consequenses). The reason we do this is because we feel that if they continually "walk away from the situation" they will in turn be picked on by more bully's because they know they will not defend themselves. We do stress that they may not start the fight. I don't agree with what the schools are doing today about getting both kids in trouble. That to me is not teaching a good lesson either. However, I will not have my child "assulted" by another child and not be able to defend himself. If he follows our "rules" then he will not be in trouble when he gets home!! Just my opionion!!

Before I got my band, my GP doctor gave me a name. I don't have it anymore but you might call your GP and see if he can refer you to someone.

I had a really good fill in December. My problem is now, for about the last month or so, whenever I eat just about anything, I end up "sliming". It can be the first bite of food, solid or soft. I did it yesterday on yogurt! So to me it does not have anything to do with the "chewing" part. It does not happen everytime but probably about 85% of the time. It could be the 1st meal or the last. What do you think this means? Am I filled to much? I do not PB just slime. I have been stuck at the same weight since about January and I think it is because I can not get in enough protien, etc. Some days I have no problem eating a meal. It just is so nerve racking not knowing what will happen. My friend took me out to lunch the other day for helping him with something and I ate about 3 bites and had to excuse myself from the table about 4 times. I just told him the food was to spicey and it was upsetting my stomach but I was getting rid of the slime. It is horrible not knowing what will happen when I put some food in my mouth!! What do you think?

Thanks ladies. I went to see the doctor today and we ended up doing a slight "deflate" as they put it!! I have to be on soft foods for the next two days, so we shall see. I was at 2.0 cc and now am back to 1.5 cc. I just hope it was not to much that they took out! Hopefully things will be much better. I did try the hot tea for a few days and it worked sometimes but not all the time. I also could not image having to do that before and during every meal. The nurse told me today that it should not take you that long to eat a meal. It was taking me 45 min. sometimes. She said, "when your family is done, then you should be done." So I will try these new things out and hopefully things will start moving again since I have been "in the slow losers club"!

I had to sign a release but we tried about 4 times with saline and it always disappeared. Most of the time... all of it. Since they put in the omniplaqu I have had not one problem with it disappearing.

I'm at 290 and Eldridge...

I don't know how to include a link on these but I was having all sorts of problems at the beginning with my saline just "disappearing". They ended up using omniplaque in my band and I have not had a problem since. Do a search for the threads "fill loss at every fill" and "band leakage" and this should give you some info. Good luck.

I think in the end it is not about the dancing... it is a popularity contest. They all danced really well but the standings do not reflect the scores.

That was happening to me in the beginning. Everytime I went back, my whole fill was almost gone. They tested for a leak and could not find one. Eventually they put in a thicker liquid instead of saline and it has stayed every time now. It took about 3 months to figure all of this out though. Kind of a bummer but at least it is fixed now. Good luck

I agree with Heathergurl... I don't care what the scale says as long as I am comfortable in a certain size. I did WW before this. It took me 1.5 years to lose 50 lbs. I went from a size 24 to a size 18. Other people may not have thought that I looked good but I FELT great. I was tucking in my shirts, wearing jeans that did not have elastic waist bands, etc. What is most important to me is that I feel good about myself... getting my self confidence back and my self esteem. What's more... Even if I do not meet the "goal weight" of all the books, I have still lost weight, added years to my life to spend with my husband and kids, and are healthier than I was before. Every pound lost is closer to a healthier and longer life. :gluck:

Thought I would share this with you incase you were having the same problems I was having. Most of the times when it was time to eat and I would be having some chicken or some other kind of meat, it would immediatly get stuck. Not sure if it was b/c I would not chew it enough or what. The other day I was having some chicken and I decided to take my food chopper (pampered chef - manual one) and chop up the food into little itty bitty pieces. When I started eating it, it went down SOOO much easier. It even helped my "picky" kids eat all the meat on their plates as well. An added bonus!! Just thought I would share with everyone! A third bonus... can release stress by pounding the chicken!! What a feeling!!

Thanks Anne for your input. I will do my best to "slow down and chew!!"

between a PB and "Sliming"? And what causes the sliming? I do not always have the pb but frequently have a "sliming" attack. Is it that I am eating to fast, not chewing good enough? I just had a fill last Thursday, so I may still be getting used to it, but I am really wondering what actually causes it? Anyone know?
-
Okay, so I have read a bunch of posts about how much people can/cannot eat since being banded. I know that everyone is different but if I can eat more than a cup full or a cup and a half, do you think that means that I am not at the right restriction level?
-
I can't stop eating... I think I am pmsing and just can't stop! Today I have had 1 1/2 eggs with a piece of toast for breakfast, a Lean Cuisine (Chicken with Lazagna) for lunch, some halloween candy, small snack size but enough to make about 2 candy bars, then had some pop corn. Then a few more pieces of candy. The scary thing is that I still have not felt that I have had enough! What is happening to me??!! I must regroup and pray that this is gone by tomorrow. It has been a slow process already, I would hate to gain some of the weight it took so long to lose!! Thanks for listening... just had to put it in writing so I would realize I need to stop!!
-
Thanks everyone. Tomorrow is a new day. I went to the store and bought some protein bars and some protein shakes. Hopefully that will help as well. I know most of us have these kind of days, but when you are "experiencing it" at the time, you just feel lost and ashamed. I will be back on the band wagon tomorrow!! Thanks again.

My doctor said that he would write a letter to the insurance company stating why it is needed for medical reasons. You might check with him/her on that as well. Good luck.
