    Six Days Post Op

I am to have surgery in two days and was told the same thing - clear liquids for one week, then full liquids week 2, then pureed for weeks 3 and 4.

    Wearing cpap after surgery?

I am set to have surgery on Thursday and was told to bring my CPAP machine as well, but mine is outpatient, in at 6am and out by 5pm, so wondering when I'm going to use it? as I'm recovering? I thought we were supposed to be blowing air into that respiration thingy to keep our lungs clear every 10 min instead of sleeping the day away with my CPAP

    Same Day Surgery?

I am scheduled for this Thursday and mine is out patient too -- in by 6am and out by 5pm. I will go back the next day to have the drain removed though.
  4. star21nd - My yearly out of pocket expense for the family is $8000, so I'd have another $5K to go. I don't know why I have to pay for the entire family's deductible...maybe because I am the only one using any of the benefits! lol Like you said, I'm going to use every benefit available the rest of this year since my out of pocket fees will have been met.
  5. star21nd - I was thinking I was the only one who has had to pay quite a bit with insurance - I have a $1500 deduct. but since I have a family, I had to meet the entire family deduct. of $3000 first. The office said I'll probably have to pay a total of $2000 more, which will be the 20% of hospital and dr. fees. ugh!
  6. I went to my first appt Jan 22, did my 3 month diet while doing all my tests, finished everything May 8, approved within a week by Cigna and surgery is next week. I've had to pay my deductible of $3K so far

June 9th Sleeve - Looking for friends!

I'm on day 4 of a 10 day pre-op and I'm not having any bathroom issues - in fact, the opposite, rather than going daily, it's every other or third day. Considering starting the benefiber a bit early.

    Protein Shakes

For me, I'm willing to do all pre-made, as the powder shakes make me ill

    Protein Shakes

I am doing my pre-op diet and found some shakes that I love, I just hope and pray that I'll still like them after surgery. Muscle Milk Pro Series 40g protein for 14 oz and I love the Chocolate Mint Oh Yeah! 32 g protein for 14 oz, banana creme is the best!! These aren't cheap, like almost $3 a bottle, but you can order them from Amazon.com in a case of 12. I liked the Premier Protein, but then I got a case that had to be returned, as it got real thick and chunky... turned me off to that brand.
  10. I am scheduled for my surgery next Thursday, I too have a hiatal hernia to be repaired, I have insurance and it is still going to be out patient. In by 6am and out before 5pm. My doctor reassured me that if anything does go unexpected, he is also a physician at the local hospital and can treat me there if needed.

Cigna OAP require 3 or 6 month for approval

When I got home today, I found my letter in the mailbox! I am approved and Cigna only took a week from the date the dr. turned in the paperwork. Date is set for next week, June 5

    It only took one week!

I can't believe it, but my dr. office sent the paperwork to Cigna on May 14th, and I have a letter dated March 21 with the approval!! I just found out about it today, as I've been out of state since the 15th. Although my BMI went down to 37.4, I have severe sleep apnea so I have a feeling that helped in the decision. Surgery is next Thursday, June 5th!

    Cigna and BMI

I started at 39.7 and by the time my 90 days was up ( I made sure of my dates and had my last weigh in at day 94 just to be sure no one counted wrong!!) , I was down to 37.4 but considering I have severe sleep apnea and have had a CPAP for the last 18 months, it didn't seem to matter. I was approved by Cigna in one week's time.

June 9th Sleeve - Looking for friends!

My dr.s rules for my 10 day pre-op diet is as many protein shakes as I want, I like the muscle milk pro series 40g protein, and I can have plain chicken or turkey as well as sugar fee Popsicles and jello as well as clear broth --- so what did I do today, on my first day, had some chips and a cookie. Tsk Tsk. I was visiting my husband's uncle and aunt and they are in their 90s and it was easier to eat what they offered than explain the surgery. I'm not happy about it but I'm not ready to tell many people about the surgery, mostly in fear of feeling that I need to justify my actions for it to be accepted, when I don't feel like I have to. Tomorrow is another day and I'll do better!!!

    Two week liquid diet

I start my liquid diet tomorrow, mine is for 10 days. I found two drinks that I love, Oh Yeah! It has 32 g of protein and muscle milk pro series has 40g. My dr also said I can eat plain chicken breasts and turkey. It no fruits or veggies. I think I will start the liquid only and only eat the food if absolutely necessary

Cigna OAP require 3 or 6 month for approval

My dr. Office turned in the paperwork to Cigna on May 14 and I had my ore-op appt at that time as well. Surgery is set for June 5th. I haven't heard from anyone since my last appt but have been out of state too. Will Cigna send me an approval letter first or do you think my dr will know first? The office said that Cigna has been good at approving within a week or two. I can't wait til tuesday to call and see if anyone knows more.

Cigna OAP require 3 or 6 month for approval

Gosh - I haven't even had my paperwork sent in yet - I'm getting real concerned and wondering how long it will take... the doctors office feels it will get approved in a week or two and have me scheduled for surgery at the end of May but I guess I better not get my hopes up too much by the sounds of everyone else's issues. I'm praying for quick approvals for everyone here!!

Cigna OAP require 3 or 6 month for approval

I've got Cigna OAP and when I called them directly, they told me 90 days diet. I go to my last weigh in on day 96 just in case they don't know how to count correctly. I am getting all of my clearances this week and I've done all of my tests and labs already. I'm curious how long Cigna will take to approve or deny? My surgeons office thinks that it will be approved quickly and have already made my pre-op appt. I hope and pray it works out that way!
