Stopping smoking is very important. Please use all resources available to quit. I used a website called quitnet.com to help me along with dr reccomendations. Quitnet sends you an email every morning telling you how many days, how much $ you have saved an how many days you have added to your life. It has been vital in my quitting smoking.

I went to a new support group at Johns creek just for us Lap Band Folks. What a nice bunch of people. I found out about it on obesity help.com and was tickled to talk to others who have had "My" procedure....and My issues...in person.... Meets 4th Tuesday of the month @ 7 at johns creek hospital. They are planning a tag sale of plus size clothes and other events... Sounds like fun!!! Wish aka Chrissi

Yes, we still meet. I'm looking forward to it. We did not meet in December because it was 2 days before Christmas but the new year will get us all back on track. See ya there! Chrissi

Redsmom, I plan on handling my family (who hasn't seen me for 80 lbs now) by being the hostess and social director, giving them tips on nutrition and exercise (if they ask) and generally allowing them to oooh and aaaah over me..... they will inevitably notice your not eating much but jeez, ya just lost some weight, ya'd think they'd know that's how ya did it by cutting down... if ya want 'em to know ya had help with the band tell 'em if not...don't it's your gig...play it like ya want to! ya can always hang out and play with the kids... I work at a dentist office and its been 6-7 months since i've seen a lot of my regular patients and they are all flipping OUT!!!! I started making a list of all the funny things they say to me... Theres the standard "Where did you go!" and a couple of "Do you have to run around the shower now just to get wet?" and a very unique "Keep losing and your honey will have to shake the sheets to find you" so far my favorite is "Don't fall through your pants leg and hang your self!" oh yea...I guess you can tell we live in the south!!! I just blush and say thanks for noticeing....:biggrin:

ok, an embarrassing NSV but one never the less. I was playing softball, running to 2nd base and my pants fell DOWN!!!!!!! not sure if any one noticed cuz my panties were the same color as my pants but OMG...MY PANTS FELL DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Time for new pants!!!!!

I'm happy with my procedure. Dr Macik has an interesting personality...a bit dry. but I trust his skill completely. His staff members are great. I had my actual surgery at north fulton hospital but found the support group there geared more toward bypass. The staff at north fulton was nice as well. I paid my $200 copay at my pre-op visit and about 200 or 250 (i forget) at the first visit @ dr m's office as an administrative fee for paperwork for insurance stuff. Well worth it considering my insurance only allowed and gave him $1300 for my actual procedure. The hospital got the bulk of the money from insurance. Not easy but not terribly painful. Well worth the 30 pounds in 12 weeks and loosing!!!!

Myn, Dr Macik is perfectly fine, Tiffany and Honore` (his staff) are even better! I've met several of his patients and the worse thing I've heard is he has no sense of humor, yet I've made him smile a time or two..Competent, efficient and on the insurance...my requirements also. He did great...my incisions are little dots except for my port one is about an inch long and almost healed at 4 weeks... Let me know if you decide to go with him.
