If it helps..I just had a wonderful Protein smoothie...I used unjury Choc, 8 oz milk, 3 frozen strawberries, 1/4 cup pineapple, 3 ice cubes...mix in my magic bullet and yummy.... Again good luck...

Hey Ladies...Congrats Angie....we just got home from the beach it was hot and rainy/ cloudy. Not a good combo for a long weekend, but it was relaxing. I will be getting off work Friday the 8th @ 11:00. I might be a few minutes late as I have to go and pick up Curtis. So I might be cutting it a little close, but I will be there. As for Cammie, I actually ride a van pool to uptown with her. I have told her we have planned on the 8th but it might change. I think she is going to try to come and if she can't make it this time, I am sure she will the next one. She use to go to the one @ Dr. V's office. Hope everyone is having a great 4th...I have to go an unpack and do laundry..wash clothes...you know all the normal stuff we have to do. :-) -

It took Dr. V about a week or so to have his report written. My insurance approved it with in 3 days of getting the paperwork. When Bobbi called to make my appt she had something two weeks from when she called. My boss made me wait until June for it. Hey at least I have it now. So once you get the approval things move pretty quick. She called the first couple of days in May and I was banded June 13th. I had all my test done before my first meeting...I was so ready to get this done I couldn't wait. :-) I remember having those same feelings....scared, exciting, nervous, happy all at one time. We are leaving for the beach tomorrow so everyone have a great 4Th, if I don't talk to you all again..... -

Hey Ladies...I will probably have my 2 year old little boy...and he is all boy and in the terrible twos. :-) Hope Angie is doing well...lets hope she stayed overnight to get some rest. It's rough right afterwards. Dianne Dr. Werth did mine also. He is very nice. It's short and sweet, I remember laying there telling them my name was spelled wrong and the next thing I know if my husband was standing there by my side. I think that was the easiest of all to do. Can't wait to meet everyone... -
Is the band all that you expected? Better or worse?

I was also just banded in June, but so far I love I have lost 17 pounds just since being banded. It has helped already in making food choices I know it's there so I know I can't over do it. I love it..very glad I went with it. I researched for about year going back and forth and finally knew which one to go with for sure. I feel this was the best option for me. Good Luck in your research!! -

Hey Angie, Just wanted to wish you luck tomorrow. I live in concord and my sister actually works @ Northeast. It's a good hospital from what she tells me. Does Dr. Bauman keep you overnight or do you go home? Dr. V requires a 1 - 2 night stay. (I made mine 1 night) Good Luck Tomorrow and can't wait to hear how you are doing!!!! -
Hello Dianne, Welcome!! I was banded on the 13th by Dr V. It's very exciting I am so happpy to finally have this journey behind me and on the road to a new me. Being banded I think was the best thing for me. I didn't like the risk that came along with the by-pass. I saw Dr V on monday also and he said everything was going great. The weight loss made me feel pretty good also. We are talking on meeting in July somewhere...keep reading in the NC thread. I know that Angela from Dr. V's office will start the Lap-Band meetings back up if we can get enough people it would be at the center or at presby. I know a couple of people who would probably join us. Again Welcome...we are here together!

I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers....I believe things happen for a reason. Everything will be fine!!!

We are going to N Mrytle Beach, we have a house down there. It really comes in handy for quick get aways. This is my first "holiday" being banded, I have no fill yet but I don't want to do anything wrong. Luckly they (my family) all know about it and the first question is can Kim eat that? They are wonderful...Although I tried Watermelon this past weekend and it didn't do good with me. So I will not be taking in that part. Hope everyone has a nice and safe 4th!!!!

Hey Angie I am just over 2 weeks post op and I feel great...I know everyone is different so if the 8th don't work we can change it. I did forget you saying that you have a liquid diet afterwards so if want to do it when you are soft food that is just fine. The 8th was just a date I through out there since I knew I was already taking some time off. We can meet mid week if that is better...I will just ask for the day off. So keep us posted on how you are doing and I way lets take it from there..Melissa's consult with the doctor is July 14 so we could even wait until after if you want. The week of the 18th looks good for me also.. Kathy, there is place called Jeepers in Concord Mills (I think they only have pizza to eat) There is a nascar place that Curtis, my 2 yr old son like to go and hit the buttons on the games. Melissa do you know of something else in there? -

I work durning the day but I would be willing to take a day off to meet fellow lap banders...if we keep it days, I will have to miss a few though. :-( That is alright becasue I will catch up at the next one. :-) I am pretty open the month of July....the best time for me take off would be the week after the 4th, (we have someone leaving so we will be short staffed.) How about Friday the 8th? My son has a dr's appt @ 2:30 in S Charlotte I was going to take 1/2 day off anyway so I can make a whole day. Thoughts? Angie - yes Dr. V makes you do 2 weeks of liquids before the surgery. After you are home from the hospital you can have mushies/ pureed food...I am on my last week. YEAH!!!!! -
Ok here it is...291 I would like to loss 15 pounds. Here is the picture...(at least I think I am doing it correct.)

I was told I can start my Water classes again...lets hope I can keep up now that I have been in about a month. 26.6 pounds gone forever..... -
I will post weight and pictures this evening...I am new and have never posted pictures so I will see what I can do.

Hello, I was told I needed to come out and introduce myself. I am a 31 year old mother of 1 (2 yr old boy) and very loving and supporting husband. We live in Concord, (right outside of Charlotte, NC) I started over a year and half ago looking into the band. I knew gastric was not for me and I wanted and needed help. So a friend told me about the lap band. From then I started looking into it with my husband by my side. He has been a wonderful support along with my mom. I have been reading this board for a while now and was encourged even more to get out and look at it from my Dr's office. this site has been very helpful and informative. Thanks to who ever started it. I feel with this support my new life is just around the corner. Unlike alot of people out there, my insurance approved me within 3 days of receiving the paperwork. So I am very happy with them. Thanks UHC... So that where I am in a nut shell 4 days post op and ready to start my new life...well if I just get rid of the gas pressure and pain. Which I know will go away with time. I look forward to learning a lot more and meeting alot of new friends... Thanks First weigh in 316 Day of surgery 301.8 Goal...I am not sure just but I want to start with at least 100 pounds at a time.

I am up for it...it will be a great jump start for me. I'm excited.

My surgery was monday June 13th @ 7:30 am...I had nothing but ice chips monday through about 1:00 tuesday. Then tuesday they brought me ck broth, Jello, unsweet tea, & apple juice. I didn't eat much but got some down. They brought me the same thing for dinner @ 6:00 ate a little just so I could go home. Tuesday night I was home...Wed I had one small thing of SF pudding and @ 1/2 cup of veggie Soup broth. That was all I could eat, all day. I know I haven't found any one who could eat mushies when they were sent home so I called my dietician (sp) & Dr about it, because they are the ones who told me about the site. They said that mushie/ pureed food were fine. As long as it could almost slide down without chewing they said it was fine or if I could chew it so fine that would be ok. Now I am keeping it at 1/3 of a cup at each meal and I need Protein first then a fruit or veggie. I always eat off a saucer so that I can think I have a alot of food...which it does. (I have lost @ 12 pounds since my surgery, 26 total since the first Dr's appt) I am really sorry not to be able to offer you more help...hang there there are some any people who have been on liquids for 2 - 4 weeks after the surgery and they are doing great. You are much better then me....I didn't fix my husband & son dinner any night. My mom would cook for them, or my husband would fix them something. He did tell me he was ready for me to start cooking again, because he has been doing since memorial day weekend, since I had to do the liquid diet 2 weeks before surgery. So I think I will fix something today for them. Well please feel free to email me if you have any questions. The pain does get better..I promise. Today I final feel like I could be normal again. I still get tired but they say that will come with time. Good Luck!!!!

Welcome ladies...I was banded on June 13th..and I finally feeling good. I went back to work part time this week and the first part of the week was rough but toward Wed & Thurs it was alot better. The best thing I was told is to walk, walk, walk & walk..that helps get the gas out. Now I will tell you it was just around the house when I come home but now I am up to almost 30 mins each time. That has really helped. I to had the gas pains and I thought at was worse then the surgery itself. For food, I was aloud to come home from the hospital eating soft mushie food. Like cottage cheese, yoguart, sf pudding, sf Jello, mashed potatoes, grits (for those who like them), oatmeal. That type of stuff, basicly if I could swallow it with out chewing I can have it. Egg salad is good & I can chop the chicken VERY small and make chicken salad that was yummy this week.. Good luck to both of you....

Mine actually started falling off Tues of this week. (9 days post-op). Since then they have been coming off a few a day. I think I have about 5 or 6 left. When my first one come off, it wasn't completly sealed so I was told to cover it with a band-aid. It's doing better now. I didn't start feeling better actaully yesterday was a very good day for me. I started back to work part time on Tues. My doctor requires a 2 week post op appt. So I go this coming monday...then once a month. I was the same as you eating when not being hungry but around Wed I found that I don't get as full with what I eat. So I am really trying to concentrate on the Protein right now. I see the dietician today so I am hoping she will help me out. Good Luck...seems like we were banded @ the same time. June 13th for me. :-) Down 25 pounds so far (from first visit with the Dr.)

unjury is my favorite so far..I will mix the unflavored in my yoguart. The choclate, I mix in 8 oz milk and it's like a Wendy's frosty. Yummy!! I tried the nectar (Fuzzy Navel flavor) and it left a metal taste in my mouth. If anyone has a good fruit flavored one that they like can you please share...I really need some new flavors...
