Hey Karen, Welcome....I went to 2 different seminars and meet several doctors. I choose Dr. V because for me he was caring and didn't push you into any other desicions. I will say he is very busy but for me again it was worth the wait. The wait wasn't long at all for my surgery. Others have had different experiences with waits so I guess it just depends. I have never heard of Dr. Kuwada - sorry I can't offer any information on him. But it's good to know that there is someone else in the area that is doing the lap band. I think the more the word gets out there the more people will want this procedure to help them. You are the only one that will be able to choose the one for you. Whatever your choice is we are all here for you if you want us to be. We have a great little support group going and plan to keep it going. It was formed from us meeting here, when we first met there was 4 of us...this last one there was 7 of us including Angela from Dr. V's office (She handles the support group from the center and we were looking for some guidance. We are all going to try to attend her meeting this month since EVREYONE is welcome, not just Dr. V's patients.) I wish you the best of luck with your search and as you begin this journey. It is truly the best thing I have ever done for me. FYI - we are meeting Sept 24 @ 11:30 I think at Fridays in the university for our informal get together and the one at Presbyterian is Sept 17th I think thats the date. We would love for you to join us. Ok now that I have written a book....if there is any other questions we can answer please feel free..I think everyone will be very helpful and just want you are looking for.

I can't wait to go through the journey with you. We will all be here for you. Anyone having any luck with the picture? Melissa how is yours or Dianne did your daughter having any luck? I live in Concord, I just wanted to say hello and welcome. If you are ever down towards the Charlotte area we have a small group that meets once a month and most of us have different Drs so the experenice is different for everyone and we all at different stages. So jump in any of the threads and ask any questions we will be here for support. Welcome!!!!

Welcome to the board Jennifer....I am so glad you joined us. Melissa is right, Bondgirl (Angie) went with Dr. Bauman. I did talk to one of his patients and he does make you pay for things up front and then file with the insurance. I have United Healthcare also, and they have been great.....I went with Dr. V and I haven't one once of problems with the insurance. I think Dr. B wants you to see his nutritionist so I am not sure of the rate. The one that I saw through the center was 150.00. I did file it with UHC and got a little back not much. But it has been well worth it. Angie will be able to answer all your questions about Dr. B and the rest of us will be happy to answer lap band questions in general. Again welcome and we would love for you to join us in Sept when we meet either one would be great....check out the thread "I had fun" here under NC and it will give the details and I know as the date gets closer we will post a new thread so anyone that wants to join us can.

That is great...keep up the great work. I am with you on just shopping at a "normal" size place. That's my goal, then I will set the weight I want to be at.

I filed short term, Not alot of paperwork actually it's all for the doctors. I was out 8 full days and 4 half days. It was giving to me so I took it. Heavens I pay enough to get some extra time off. I was paid 100% while out, they only way you wouldn't have your job when you went back is if you took over the aloted time. I say take it if you can and recover. Everyone is so differnt so what happens to one may not be able to happen to another. So just becareful when it comes to you!!! That is what is important.

Hey Keri, Thanks for the nice words... I very so much from day to day on what I eat. I normally will have and egg or yogurt or some slice deli meat w/ cheese for Breakfast. lunch is normally chicken or tuna salad (made with dill relish and ff mayo) or deli meat w/ cheese, or 1/2 grilled chicken salad and a fruit of some sorts. I normally have LF string cheese for snack or the protien chips from Kay Natural or carrot sticks. dinner well that just all depends, I have been eating ALOT of grilled or baked fish, chicken, pork loin and a veggie. I try to drink all my Water every day plus some and I think that helps alot. I do have a SF York Peppermint Patty every eveing. It's small and it taste great. I journal everything, I count my caloires and I focus on protien first and then a fruit or a veggie. I eat until I am satified and I eat off a saucer. I stay away from big plates...the bigger the plate the more food goes on. Hope this is somewhat helpful....maybe we could all journal our food on a thread under food...I know that really helps me because if it goes in my mouth it goes on the paper. Everyone is doing great keep up the good work!!!!

Alright I was 269.6 this morning. That is 3 pounds this week...I think the fill if finally kicking in. YEAH!!!!!
-
Congrats to you all....I started @ 316 and I was 270 this morning..so that's about 46 pounds. My true weekly weigh in is on monday so we will see where I am then. I have had one fill I am at 2cc's, I don't get hunger but I have had some female problems which I tend to munch more...I think that is stalling me a little. I just try to aim for 2 pounds a week....and snacking now consit of carrots, low fat string cheese..you know. For the Vitamins - well they were opened but I should be on another bottle now. I was going to Y until I had got lazy again and the female things going on...So we are going to start back up AGAIN. Everyone is doing great...isn't a great feeling to be such a great LOSSER. haha....

Rica you and I are done the same day....you are doing amazing. Tell us your secert???? -
You might want to check with your company because you can take a loan against your 401k, the interest is VERY low, no credit checks or anything. I know with my company you just call type in how much you want if it's available tell them when you want to pay it back and it comes out of your paycheck each month. I had enough to buy a car, I have the title and the payment comes right out of my pay check. It's worth checking into....
