Wow I have never had a dr tell me to eat below 1000 calories. Actually when I had fill that was too tight and was only eating 600 - 800 calories a day I wasn't lossing a thing...I actually gained a little. Now that I have had some taken out and I am eating 1000 - 1200 calories I am loosing anywhere from 2 - 4 pounds each week. I really can not believe that you have 3 doctors telling you to eat so little that just is simply not healthy. Good luck on what ever you deceide to do.

Experiencing a Hang up in Weight Loss
gordonfamily3 replied to j_war06's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hang in there Jodi..I just tell myself I didn't become overweight in one night and it's not coming off in one night. Your weight loss is great so far....I think the average weight weight loss is 1-2 pounds a week and it seems you are hitting that. Stay strong...check in here for support and just remember to always eat your portien first at every meal... You are doing great and keep up the good work.. -
Girl you vent away....luckly I had my mom come over to help because I know how the hubby is. Mom's are great...she came over and helped me out everyday for a week. Would bring dinner or fix it. Hubby did at least change our sons diaper in the morning but took him to the nanny's house in his PJ's. Gotta love that. Men gotta love them. Look I haven't even been laid up with surgery and our house isn't very clean....I guess I know what I will be doing this weekend. Anyone want to come and join? Hey we could do Melissa's house first and then make our rounds. haha...

That is great Melissa....girl you are going to do so well with this. I am so glad it is finally behind you and you are bandster now. I am not sure what the diet is for you but I came from the hospital on softs and didn't have a problem...I didn't puree anything. That just sounds nasty. Can't wait to see you in a few weeks.

I just have to say that whey I need a little pick me up this is a great place to be. I don't really know where I want my weight to be but I know I have over 100 pounds to loss since I started @ 316.8. I have set my first goal at 180 don't know why just that it was a reachable number and under 200. So far in just over 4 months I have lost 60 pounds and this is the less I have weighed in years! I love that my clothes don't fit me anymore. I hate the idea of buying new thought. (Thats the give and take I guess) My wedding bands and mothers ring are almost too big for me. I flew for the first time in Sept since surgery and I didn't need a seat belt extender. I love thinking of NSV and this is the first time I have written them down somewhere. I guess there could be others but these are the ones that stick out in my mind. Hope everyone is doing great and hang in there Brenda you will be losing again before you know it. Plus when you figure out what you need to do you can post it here and when we get stuck we can look at your advice. Here is what helps me now.... I write down EVERYTHING that goes in my mouth along with the calories. This keep me @ 1000 - 1200 calories a day plus it lets me know when I can reward myself for going so good. I don't exercise like I should I do walk everyday 20 - 30 mins at a time everyday though..I figure that is better then nothing. If someone can tell me how to get going I have a Y membership that isn't used but they offer great classes I just always make excuses. Anyway the other thing I do is I drink ALL my Water. the whole 64 oz....if I don't I can tell it really slows me down. I can't wait to read more about everyone...lets keep this 100+ thread going!!!

Paula so glad to hear you are ok. Hope the house wasn't too bad. Keep us posted when you get a chance.

How did you determine your goal weight?
gordonfamily3 replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been asked this several times...and I still don't know. My first goal is to get below 200. From there we will see...I would like to wear a size 12 so what ever my weight is then that might be goal. Boy is that sad or what....but that is how I am looking at it right now. -
That's great....Congrats!!!
-
Alright Jennifer....I for one am very happy for you. I think you will be very happy with your choice. UHC doesn't take long at all....although I don't know about the BMI thing...mine was way over. But it's getting closer to that 40 each day.

Hey Court and welcome....This is a great place we are so glad you came out of hiding.... I was one that was starving with just my band. I didn't gain anything but the weight loss was @ 2 pounds a week which is normal for the band. So I didn't complain. Got filled to 2 and still not much so when I went to 2.5 OMG it was way to much....you can go for your first fill @ 6 weeks post op. Well that is what most docs say. Hang in there it does take time. I live in Concord also....I am 31 have a 2 year old. If you have been lurking on the board you have noticed that here in NC we have our own little support group thanks to the LBT. We try to meet once a month and the next one is coming up Nov 5th @ Ruby Tuesdays @ 77 and Arrowood. Then next month we should be meeting up in the university. So we flip flop....We have I think 2 new people coming this month so if you could join us it would be great. There is about 6-8 of us that meet on a normal basis....try to fit us in on Nov 5th @ 11:30 it's a lot of fun you want be sorry you joined us!!!!!
-
Alrightm Sherri we can't wait to meet you. Now we just need to get Jennifer there....Jennifer please try to join us.
-
Jennifer...I for one am very happy you are rethinking your options. I am 31 (32 in Dec) and that was the biggest reason I went with the band. My husband and I sat and talked several times about this...The 2 most important things in my life are my husband and my son and thinking that something could happen to me either in surgery or after was not a risk I was willing to take. I have lost just over 60 pounds in 4 months with my band and the good thing about it is 4 months from now I will still be loosing. With the RNY you do loose most of your weight in the first 6 months and then just like us banders if they want to keep it off they have to work at it. I know because my aunt had the RNY several years ago and every time I talk to her she tells me she wishes she would have had the lap band. She had gained some of her weight back...I am not saying banders want gain weight but we have a life long tool to help us if we take care of it. I will say it over and over again...my band is my Best Friend!!!! Please join us for lunch...Kathy is right you will see what bandsters are like...all stages.
-
Sherri... We would love for you to join us. Kathy is right our monthly meetings are always on a saturday @ 11:30 because it does take a us a couple of hours to get through a lunch. She is so right...it's like a high school reunion only better. We are real people that get along great and all have the same thing in common. We do flip flop meetings from the Arrowood Exit to the University Area (which is just a couple of exits down from Concord Mills.) We love meeting new people and once you meet us you will come back for more of us. haha So far we are averaging a new person each month....which is wonderful we love that our group is growing. Hey if you do come we can make a day of it. I only like @ 10 mins from Concord Mills after lunch we could go walking the mall. Hope to see on Nov 5th....

Any word on Melissa (Dragonwilo)?
gordonfamily3 replied to Mrs Sabre's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Melissa, it is so good to hear you are doing so good. You will be in your bed soon... I tell you everyone talking about having staples now I am so glad I didn't have them. I was glued shut and there were sticthes inside. Not as gross looking I think....64 oz of Water at this point is too much I think. Now that my fill level is great I still some days have trouble getting in 64 oz but I try my hardest. Well keep us posted on how you are doing...I think from the sounds of it you are doing wonderful!!! -

Ok I had a fill on 9/19/05 since then I haven't been able to eat real food...mushies and very soft foods are ok and of course liquids. The first week I lost like 7 pounds and last week 1.6 this week so far I have gained 4 oz. I get sick with almost ever meal..well slime for 30 mins or so and then sometimes PB well ok most of the time. If I drink enough liquid each day I don't eat much because there is no room...if I eat then I don't drink alot. I think I have acid reflux starting because when I get up in the morning my throat is so sore and the other night I wake up with a burning sensation. So my question is...why I am gaining and not lossing like crazy? Also could I be to tight? I hear just as much as .2cc can make a huge difference. I don't go back to the doctor until the 27th but I am wondering if I should try to go sooner?
-
HI all...well I had .3 removed today...I am on liquids for 2 days and then mushies. Let's hope this time I can get off mushies. Thanks for your help...it made me call the Dr and actually get checked.
