Anyone else use pasteurized eggs whites as an incredible source of protein? I have and I am loving it. Looking for MORE recipes or what you put it in during the day. Thanks for sharing!

Cool - trying some right now

I have used it mostly in shakes with low-fat Greek yogurt, so even more protein. I've also made eggs with cheese and spinach and salsa. I just added to an iced coffee and it's great!

I am so grateful for this surgery and how it has changed my life! Can't wait for more - for the skin to shrink back more - to be able to be more aggressive in my training too. Loving this lifestyle change!

I have several questions - seeking input/opinions & answers. I guessed I missed the "why" during pre-op classes...! #1: why no straws? And does this ever change? #2: sugar - why can't we have sugar? And what about things like BBQ sauce, etc. that has sugar - so will I never be able to have frosting or cake or ice cream? #3: my doctor puts his patients on a medicine for three months to help with acid reflux. I've missed it once or twice. The days I take it I feel like I have the problem and days I didn't take it, it felt better. Is that all mental? Would you call your doc about it? #4: I am half way through week five of eating and I have been trying more things, just mashing it up and such. I haven't had any problems. Yet I fear I am overdoing it. Am I crazy? My body would reject it if I was doing harm, right? I've been focused on high Protein only so I am eating healthy and I ca eat about 1/4 cup of food. #5: I have finally hit the wall with my Protein shakes. Can I mix my protein in with fruit and make a smoothie that way? I think I can but I can't help but think I am doing something wrong...! #6: Snacks - I have a busy schedule and travel some and my snacks have been cheese and hard boiled eggs. What do you do? Protein Bars? Thanks for your input!

Thank you everyone with your responses. It has given me much to think about & talk about with my doctor & nutritionist. Your answers confirmed a lot things for me too - so I appreciate your time and help!

Looking to connect with those in northern Nevada who had surgery this year. Open of coarse to connection with this who are post-op from before that. Looking to have a place more locally for support & encouragement.

Salt Lake huh? Wow! What took you there?

What foods have you been able to handle since your surgery? For example, a lot of people tell me that can't do any bread type things, but other have been able to. So what has been your experience with different foods? Also, what places have you found you can eat out at safely that offer good Protein that works well for you? Any other suggestions for figuring out what you can or can't eat?

What were some of your goals post-op? Ride all the rides at an amusement park? Sky dive? Skinny clothes? What are your goals and dreams for loosing weight? Also, what has happened for you that has been successful? What has changed now for you that has brought you happiness & success?

1 week post op back to work
nemery replied to cari73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you! Keep it up. I've used a silly little timer to help me sip & sip again. And don't worry about your co-workers right now. Let them know when they ask that you've changed your diet and tell them what it is - and that's not a lie! But just remember, if you tell one person all the details then you should tell them all. Some will be supportive and others won't. Those who won't are the ones who have already been critical and we can let them bother us. Yet have supporters at work will help long-haul for accountability ans encouragement! Keep it up! -
Thanks for sharing everyone. Five weeks pre-op I weighted 435 and now I weigh 395. It has been a good experience for me. Found a few things that are harder to swallow, like normal tap water - warm water is better. Weird stuff. I am to still swallow pills and such and haven't used pain meds very often. Just tired and sore - but still very grateful. Again, thanks for sharing - it's good to hear others stories!

Hey Everyone, I just had my gastric sleeve surgery one week ago & I have found this resource. I'd love to hear your story how your first few weeks went. What did you learn the hard way the first few weeks? Things like that...! Things have gone well for me, just trying to manage my pain still. Frustrated by that pain level and not being able to lift and do like normal.

Thank you both for your thoughts & insight!
