Well in our pre-op nutrition classes we were given the diet schedule that the nutritionist said was what the average doctor did. It was liquids for about 4 days, mushies for about a week (the calendar showed adding a new type of food every other day), and then onto solids. I guess because we were the first he did, he wanted to be extra caution. I think i compensate for six weeks of liquids by always talking about food and watching The Food Network on TV at least 5 hours a day. I now know how to make all these delicious meals that i should be able to eat soon - God Willing!

I was banded on June 8th and am still on full liquids! I have not had a fill yet. I go for my next appt with the doctor in two days and will be estatic to go to mushies. I have to admit I have snuck in a baked potato twice and scrambled eggs twice. I think I am a little unusual because I do feel a little restriction - I just know when it is time to stop. Maybe it is because of this that as of today I am down 24 pounds. Of course I was eating like a PIG prior to surgery trying to get in everything that I couldn't have for a while. I didn't realize before surgery that I would be on liquids for 6 weeks - the doctor sprung this on us the day of discharge. He did three of us that day and we were his first three! Surprise!!!

It's funny but the coordinator of the bariatric program where I had my surgery called just yesterday to ask me how I was doing. Two of the questions she asked was "how much can you eat" & "are you feeling full?" I was banded on June 8th and have been on full liquids this whole time. I have not had a fill. So basically she was saying the opposite of what you all are saying. The issue here is that I was the second person they banded, the first person they did an hour before me. I figured it was ok to be done on their first day because a rep from the company that makes the band would be in the Operating Room. Now I am slowly but surely finding out that there are many reasons that you shouldn't be first.

My neice won't eat any condiments either. She is 20. She won't even eat a salad because of the dressing.

You know, ladies, think about this. We were addicted to food and then they ask us to be without food for 6 weeks in my case. There is just so many times I can have potato soup. Like many overweight people, I am a very picky eater so my choices are limited while on the full liquid diet. I think about food often and I am afraid that I will go crazy once I am allowed to eat. I don't mean that I will eat alot because I do know better than that, but that I will eat all the wrong things that I have been CRAVING!!!

I am about 4 weeks post surgery but unlike you, I was burping from like day 2 - it is quite embarrasing. Bowel movements took awhile, still aren't back to normal

Oh gosh, I have been going to the water park since week 3. I never asked the doctor, i hope it was ok. Well, too late now

Nothing like this has happened to me yet but I know it will! I am worried about the lunch meetings I have at work. We all bring our own lunch but I am worried that something like this will happen at work. My other problem is that I always burp after i eat anything or drink water. I can't let that happen at the meetings!

I have eaten peanut butter and dill pickles sandwiches since childhood! I love potato chips in ice cream and fritos dipped into vanilla ice cream is even better. I put ketchup on almost anything.

I had a similar problem this weekend. I went to visit my sister and her family at her summer house. We arrived at 11am and she was just sitting down to breakfast! I had eaten at 8am. I knew I was in for trouble. She said we would have a later lunch. Well at 3pm i asked her if we could have lunch because I was hungry. She asked if I could wait a bit. I told her that I could have a protein shake but then i wouldn't be hungry for the special soup she made me (I am still on full liquids). Long story short, I ended up eating alone which I really didn't want to do. Personally I think she sabotagued me because she was really against the surgery. I can't wait until I can eat with others (I live alone).

Oh no Jayme, is that what I have to look forward to? I am in my 4th week of liquids! Laura
-
Good morning Robyn - how are you doing today? I also have carnation instant breakfast as my protein drink. I add a tablespoon of dry milk for the extra protein. I too have just started exercising - I seem to always have an excuse not to do it just like before the surgery.

I was wondering if I was starting to lose mine too because whenever I go to the waterpark the top of my scalp gets sunburned and it never did before!
-
Funny you mention this because i was just wondering about my port incision site this morning. I was banded about three weeks ago and I still had the littlest bit of a scab there but all my other scabs are long gone. I also had a section of skin about two inches below the incision site which is very sensitive to touch - not pain as much as a wierd tingling going on.

I am a recreation therapist in a physical rehab hospital. I am still out on disability though

I haven't had a fill yet. Does the surgeon do the fill or does the radiologist?

Hang in there, it will get better!. I was banded on June 8th and am almost back to normal except for feeling the side of effects of being on a full liquid diet. I totally agree with you about drinking an awful lot prior to surgery. You don't want to go into surgery dehydrated. I also had trouble urinating after surgery and they almost had to cath me -Yuck!

I was banded on 6/8/05. The doctor is very conservative and had me on clear liquids for 10 days and now I am in my first week of full liquids. I have three more weeks to go on full liquids. I am definately going through withdrawl. I an anxious, jittery, can't concentrate, and am mean! The only good thing is that I live by myself so I can't make too many people mad at me. I know that I can't eat things so I won't but all those hidden reasons that I overate are coming back to haunt me now. I need to chew! To make matters worse I have PMS!!!! I am sorry that I am rambling but i need some suggestions before I tear my hair out!

Oh my God, I am so sorry. I was crying as I read your post. I had to put my first dog to sleep and you always wonder if it was the right thing to do, if it was the right time. I have three dogs and the oldest one is so feisty I know she won't be here much longer. My hope is that she dies in her sleep as I think we all do for our dogs. I am fairly new to this site and don't know much about your precious baby, please tell me more

I was on clear liquids for 10 days and was losing weight like crazy. Now i am on full liquids and have gained some back. It's confusing to me because I know that I am not taking in that many calories. I think we all are very aware of our intake from all those years of dieting. I am taking in less than 1000 calories a day. I guess I better get my butt moving! -
Wow - it happens that much? One of the first foods I ate was scrambled eggs with a little cheese in it. I had no problem but I feel like I have been on liquids for so long that I will soon float away! It has only been two weeks.

Thank you for telling me what PB means

I live in NJ and am so lucky. You can get every kind of pizza imaginable here - very very think to very thin crust. I used to love thick crust before surgery but now I will have to learn to enjoy the very thin crust. Laura

Please someone tell me what PB means. I get the idea but what the actual initials stand for. Laura

I was getting hunger pains about 5 days out of surgery. It probably had to do with the fact that all I did from morning to night was watch cooking shows! Glad to hear that you are doing better. Laura
